It's summer time and the pools are finally open but can we go...no. Despite the whole family being vaccinated (please no debates) we managed to get whooping cough. I had a coughing fit or combo of fits that were so bad that the doc says I separated two ribs on my left side. This is painful but more so when you have two kids who don't understand not to crawl on you, jump on you, or even hug you two hard lol. So my week has been spent taking and giving steroids, antibiotics, and breathing treatments. Did you know when you test positive for whooping cough the CDC personally calls you to get a list of public places you have been in the last two weeks? I was thrown off but after they explained they take it seriously because it stills kills many children who are too young to be vaccinated and the elderly who can't fight it off. Apparently there is an outbreak in the northern part of my state right now so we probably just picked it up on a shopping cart unfortunately. Luckily my kids are out of school and do not go to daycare or any camps so they didn't have to rush to notify alot of parents.

Anyway I know you are only here for the TRAIN.

Dang. that's super scary. I'm dependent on herd immunity for medical reasons and don't need more reasons to worry ><

Hope you all feel better soon!

Ouch! That sounds miserable, with the ribs. I didn't even know that was possible. I hope you have a swift recovery, Irdra.

Yeah, sure, it's totally summer. It was snowing 3 days ago here in Moscow, and 5 hours ago I saw frozen puddles near my house (nope, it's not exactly normal for these parts). Anyway, I hope summer is actually summer where you live, and you'll get well enough soon to enjoy it.

Thank you for the train, Irdra.:)

Sorry to hear that you are all sick. I'm glad to hear that you have caught it in time so that you can get proper treatment! Hopefully you'll all be able to get to go swimming soon (I'm not sure how long whooping cough lasts)!

Does that mean you and your family have to be quarantined in your house until the contagious stage ends?

ETA: Dang. I'm only at 0.74! How long does the train last, Irda? That way I can see if I can get my ratio up in time!

They cannot make us stay home from things like grocery store etc but we can't go to places like swimming pool, camps, daycare (they don't go anyway), other public places that might have young children. They can't stop us from going those places either but if people got sick and they traced it back to us...well I'm sure if there if there is a penalty for that or not but we aren't going to risk infecting anyone and have a death on my conscience. We are only contagious for 5 days once antibiotics are started versus 3 weeks if you never see doc. As for the symptoms...it is also called the 100 day cough because it can take some people that long to be rid of the cough even after being treated and no longer contagious.

The train will run till Saturday at 6pm CST. Hopefully one or two quick gibs can get you there!
