That's awesome! That would've felt really great when all those games finally disappeared

I've got about one third of my games "hidden" however I don't find that much useful, first of all after fresh OS install I found out the "hidden" tag is not saved online so I had to hide them all again and second of all I don't like using steam client much, I prefer being on steam website via browser and then you have to deal with all the crappy games because they're all displayed, I'd really love the option to permanently remove games from you library, since "hiding" option is not all that helpful

Yeah, it would be a lot better if I had the option to remove it myself. Much less hassle, tbh
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. I guess some people don't get that some prefer quality over quantity.

How to be a troll in two easy steps!

I guess we are in the minority here at steamgifts. Not that I'd mind anyway haha

I've done it before where I asked them to remove some games and they did it, not too long ago asked again with like 10+ games to be removed and the reply was "the hidden" option. -_-

Oh really? I guess I just got lucky that I got a good CS guy. With that, I would just reopen the same thread if I want more games removed so I can be sure it's the same person taking care of it.

Ah I should have done that, reopening the same thread. ><

You need to write some "legal stuff" in your ticket, like "I understand that I will not get any refund, blah blah...". You can find some guides (that's what I did) on the Internet. Hope this helps! :)

Ah yeah, he's right. I put something along those lines and got a relatively quick response.

I wouldn't remove games even if I wanted to, it's free experience. Gotta get level 40 somehow.

I had Dota 2/Dota 2 Beta and Dead Island Epidemic removed. I fkin hate mobas...

I am glad that steam did eventually introduce the option to remove F2P games manually, but it's a shame you can't remove the games you've had prior to that

That's nice to see that we're not the only ones caring about their library's quality! But there are still so many people who just prefer a "+1" over a new game...
Anyway, I've contacted the support 6 times now - planning to do another "removing batch" soonish. They're very nice and respond relatively quickly - either people expect them to answer back in the next hour or so or they send just a rant with no explanation whatsoever.
Here's my support page. Most of the games are games I bought when they were on sale, not many are from bundles (in italic). This the list:
Now comes the "fun" (read: silly) part:
I know this was pretty dumb of me - but hey - I like to keep my library clean. :P

Man, I do envy you for having the original Deus Ex HR with all the DLCs, but I wouldn't mind having the director's cut anyway. I wish they'd update the game any time soon.
While I do hate EA, I do like their games that are still on Steam and I'd even activate the keys on Origin for the hell of it. The only Origin-only games that I still kinda like are Crysis 3 and Mass Effect 3, but I feel people on Steam really won't miss out on the likes of Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 3, and the Sims 4.

Well, you can find plenty of relatively cheap offers considering it's a removed game, like between 2 and 3 keys, on the TF2 Outpost.
I'm sorry if this post is considered like trading or whatever, let me know!
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh that's a pretty good price! I'll look into it then haha

Why not just shove them into a garbage category? Weird to remove them and can be a mistake like with Deus Ex.
I don't see the advantage I guess...
Comment has been collapsed.
OK, let's tackle this problem from a different angle...
Let's say I killed 42 people over the past year. I could hide the corpses in a secret area but eventually someone will find out about them and I'll be screwed.
Now, imagine I can rewind the past and travel to where I was just before I killed the first victim. This time I'm not gonna do it, instead it'll be like it never happened in the first place.
See where this is going? ;)
P.S.: I've never killed anyone, but I thought it would describe exactly my reasoning.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just uninstall them! The games will stay in your library but won't take up space on your computer.

Unfortunately I do my gaming (for now) on a laptop with a 500gb hdd, so I only have about a few games installed :D

Another case you may want a game to be removed is about Deluxe versions or such...
If anyway you've got yourself a Standard version of the game previously,
Some games provide Deluxe+ DLCs you can add later, which is good
Some games provide nothing and prevent you buying the Deluxe version since you own the Standard one
For the latter case you have no option other than asking for removal prior to buying the Deluxe version
Just my bits ;)

Fortunately, I'm weird enough to still want both the non-deluxe version and deluxe version of some games I really like. I'm still looking to get a non-DC version of Deus Ex HR, since I hear that was still a better version. Among others

I'm planning on getting a refund on Borderlands at one point, because fuck Borderlands.
Comment has been collapsed.
The first game? I hear it's transitioning to Steamworks from Gamespy so you should at least try playing co-op. lol. the game's much better that way :D
Comment has been collapsed.
No. I can hide games by either hiding them or putting them into the "other indie stuff" category which I keep minimized.
Comment has been collapsed.
right click on the game and choose "set categories". There should be a checkbox saying "Hide this game in my library". If you still can't see it, I think you should activate beta participation

Thanks to the author, I did not know that there is a possibility to remove games from account and have long wanted. In which the support section is necessary to send a request? http://clip2net.com/s/iTfvoC
Once I deleted installed game but never ran it before and I returned the money for it, I bought the same game again - the Deluxe Edition.

I just sent them a message saying that I wanted to have the games removed. Apparently, Steam support is always quick to act on these requests than other concerns.

Yup. One. Hitman Sniper Challenge. I got it from somewhere (forgot where form), activate it and played like 10 minutes and then the game closed saying it's region locked and cannot be played in my region :|
So I had to have it removed to be able to activate the key offered by Square-Enix.
Comment has been collapsed.
I do have it myself, but I remember it came with Hitman Absolution for free. I'm not too sure, though
Comment has been collapsed.
What, were you running out of room on your virtual shelf? Hiding the games isn't enough?
But yeh, I guess wasting Steam Support's time with this is 100% valid. Not like they take forever to get back to people with legitimate issues due to a huge backlog of tickets or anything. Thanks for giving them something to do!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, not too long ago, I was really into getting a higher game count so I took the chance. Now I just want to have a more focused game library only with games I'd only actually play
Comment has been collapsed.
Personally i find it stupid all you really do is clog up the already slow support.
Comment has been collapsed.
Have your removed games also disappeared from the "store transactions" page? I'm just asking because I recently added some stupid F2P games to gain additional XP (while it was working this want), but now I want to clear my purchase history.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, they're now gone from my purchase history as well. In the case of F2P games, there should be a remove link right next to them.

Well, there was one game I asked Steam Support to remove - A Valley Without Wind. Dunno who here remembers the mess with a couple keys for that game (which were or were not illegitimate), given/traded away by some users I don't remember.
Well, I asked the devs if the key I got in a trade was legit or not but they weren't too sure. They were, however, really generous in giving me a legit one as an excuse for the mess. So I asked Steam Support to remove it (explained the situation), they did and I could activate the 100% legit key. :)
€dit: Oh, I found one of the several threads from here about it over here

Nah. I'm a game collector/hoarder, and my list is too unruly to look at regardless. I pretty much just look for things by typing names at this point. To each their own though; I could understand liking a cleaner library I guess.
Also, I liked Woodle Tree. ;_;

As I found out that the number of games in my account have come closer to 500, I asked the help of our dear friends from Steam support to have a couple of games (that I will never play anyway) removed from my account.
The first few games that I asked to remove were the crappy indie games that were given away in some sites, i.e. Final Slam 2, Afterfall Insanity EE, Dino D-Day, Frozen Hearth, Gun Monkeys, Enclave, and Woodle Tree Adventures. Then I proceeded to crappy games that were included in bundles, which included The Ship (best part that the game count dropped 3 places) and Dream Pinball 3D.
And then finally, the most painful of them all, asking to remove some games/packages that I actually paid good money for (welp).
So far, 11 games have been removed, and my latest request will remove another 20+ games if successful. But do you want to know about the best part in all of this? It was the only time when Steam support actually responds within 24 hours! Amazing.
So yeah, have you guys had any games removed?
EDIT: I am aware of the new Steam feature to hide games, and as a matter of fact, I have about 100 items in there. I just feel that it isn't enough for me, so I had to remove some of those games.
EDIT 2: Got a reply from Steam support and got my latest request done. Game count is now down to 465. Yay
EDIT 3: Say what you want about me clogging up Steam support, but it's not my fault that they have priorities to what tasks they should do first. Besides, I only talk to one person anyway (or that's what I've been led to believe) by just reopening my previous tickets.
