I was planning on waiting until October to create some spooky horror trains, but then i realised that the end of my summer vacation is more frightening than anything to do with Halloween. all 5 trains are posted, 10 horror or horror-adjacent games within each one. No level restrictions. Each train is locked behind a jigsaw puzzle with art from some of my favorite recent-ish horror movies. I would love to hear suggestions for more horror movies both old and new to watch if anyone has any. I read them all even if I can't respond to everyone. Good luck!!

Bump for solved! Thanks for the train Johamburger!

Not a huge movie watcher myself but the existential horror of Annihilation (2018) left a great impression on me.

Not a horror fan in visual media (can read horror, just not watch it) so did not enter. The Blair Witch Project scared me stupid. Felt it was really well done because the horror is implied, really do not see anything nasty.

Gosh, I haven't thought about those in quite some time. I really liked the original one.

The japanese original Ringu (The Ring) from 1998. Watch it alone in the dark. Expect a slow moving, lo-fi movie and enjoy the creepy horror it instills.

+1
I feel ringu's story is a lot deeper than the Ring's version. A lot more build up. The same goes for Dark water, also from director Hideo Nakata.
Another great horror movie is A tale of two sisters, by South Korean director Jee-woon Kim. A lot of mystery in that one.

I found this beyond scary. Had a tough time having a TV in my room for a while. And then there was a real world incident which was less than fun, involving a woman with long dark touselled hair walking into our house and appearing in my bedroom doorway. Good times.

Thanks for the train.

I'd recommend It Follows, the best horror movie from the recent years I could actually enjoy.

It Follows is awesome, but also check out Smile, it's kinda similar but way scarier.

Yes, it is.

I did watch Smile, but it was a huge disappointment as it was a complete rip-off of Truth or Dare (and that movie wasn't good at all).

+1, I thought of the same movie. Though one shouldn't watch it with too high expectations, I have a hard time figuring out why I like it more than other horror movies.

True, as I sat down with low (or mediocre) expectations myself.

Its strength in my opinion lies in the good camerawork and the killers' identity: the faceless individuals slowly, but surely walking towards their victims.

It Follows was great and did well at scaring me, despite the fact that it features about the most manageable death curse you could imagine.

Very hard to recommend horror movies as 'horror' thing vary. I don't consider 'we put jumpscares throughout the movie, enjoy' movies as 'horror' and instead prefer those that rely on uneasy atmosphere and overall suspense tone instead.
Just a few I can remember: Insidious (1st), Silent Hill (1st), Sinister (credits track is sick as hell), Pan’s Labyrinth, 1408, The Mist (movie, not series), Jacob's Ladder, Dagon.

Trick r Treat is good.

The Cabin in the Woods is fun.

Inside (French horror) is uncomfortably good.

The Collector: a good "cat and mouse" sort of flick.

If you are a fan of the Alien films I suggest Life (2017) with Ryan Reynolds. It came out about the same time as Alien Covenant but was a far better movie, more like the original Alien.

I have recommendations for you:
-Triangle (2009) but avoid spoilers, the less you know the better the movie is.
-Kamisama no iu tΓ΄ri (As the Gods Will) again, avoid all spoilers, it's incredible.
-You're Next, slasher movie where the girl fights back
-The Platform, very unique and interesting horror movie
-anything Ringu/The Ring and Ju-On/The Grudge, ALL OF THEM! I love them.
I can go on forever listing horror movies but this should be enough to begin with, have fun!

Kamisama no Iutoori (manga for me) is amazing. If the movie is half as good, great things await (although the best part is Kamisama no Iutoori Ni, but who knows what got adapted).
To be fair, I'd say the manga is less horror and more psychological death game, but still very very good.

Have not read the manga but I loved the movie, watched it on my birthday last year and it was so good. It's a hillarious horror movie in the best way possible, might be one of my favorite movies of all time. Just pure enjoyment.

Ok, so i can recommend few movies, between three "categories".
When it comes to horrors that I like and are kinda well know: Hereditary, Midsommar, Blair Witch Project, Get Out, Babadook, The VVitch: A New-England Folktale
Less known movies, that are also good: Sissy, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Pontypool, The Invitation,
Speak No Evil (last two are more thriller than horror movies)
And last, but not least, so bad it's good/weird horror movies: Mad God, Deadstream, Ice Cream Man, Jack Frost (from 1997), Glorious, Cutting Class (this one is actually with Brad Pitt), Beyond the 7th Door

"Beau is Afraid" for me was masterpiece, although horror there is just a facade. From recent ones i enjoyed "Bodies, Bodies, Bodies" and "Barbarian" very much.

Barbarian was going to be my suggestion (and one to go into without researching it beforehand).
Bodies Bodies Bodies I found a chore, but the clever overall concept kinda elevates it.
