That one was a smart question
Well not everyday because I'm always in lazy mode in home xD
Hmm the one I always cooked when there's no food.. It's always fried rice or maybe porridge + chicken's broth
Or just potato dish
Simple is always the best :P

if you can cook, you most of the time know what will work together, but having a taste from different homes is quite nice as well and for those i need a recipe ^^

I'm from the US so what dishes qualify for being American in origin is up for debate. I do a lot of cooking and came across this recipe recently. The author, Ming Tsai, is from the United States so maybe that qualifies. It's a wonderful meal on a colder night (like we are having currently) and is something of an Asian/British Isle fusion.
Beef and Shiitake stew
2 lbs. hanger or skirt steak (I looked for this cut of steak but didn't have any luck, any time of steak for stewing with will work), cut into 2" squares
Salt and pepper
2 T canola oil
2 Lg. Red onions, cut into 1/2" dice
2 lg. Carrots, peeled and cut into1/2" dice
2 celery stalks, 1/2 " dice
1 T. Black bean sauce
1T finely chopped ginger
Cloves from one to two heads garlic, peeled
1 lb. Shiitake mushrooms ( I used a combo of shiitake and regular white mushrooms since Shiitake $$$)(quartered)
I cup of dry sherry or other stout white wine
1/3 cup soy sauce
Mashed potatoes (prepare separately, use as served)
Season meat with salt and pepper. Heat heavy skillet with oil and brown meat all sides.
Remove meat, wipe out pan. Add oil. Add onions, carrots, celery, ginger, garlic. Saute@8-10 mins. Add mushrooms and season with salt and pepper. Add wine, bean sauce, cook and reduce 4-6 mins. Add soy sauce, return meat, cover with water and cook covered, @2 hrs.
Scoop mashed potatoes into bowl, serve stew over top!

I can cook some, though I don't do so much because for the effort I'd put in I'd want to eat all of it.

Hmm... It looks like I've been blacklisted for the first time. Yay, I must have done something really bad...

I think we're from the same country, so my recipes would probably be nothing new to you. We have some regional specialties here where I'm living like Saumagen or liver- and bloodsausage (Leber- und Blutwurst), but I don't know how to make Saumagen myself.
To enjoy your Leber- and Blutwurst dish to the max tho you might want to boil some potatoes along with it, stirr some quark with milk, salt, onions and fresh parsley to have it nice and creamy, and finally prepare a fresh and delicious green salad alongside. All goes together, I really like it :)

This is the first one i prepared, very simple but very good. :)
~Torta di Antonia
Ingredients
250 grams of "ricotta" (i don0t know the trad. for this)
250 grams of sugar
3 eggs
75 grams of cocoa
1 packet of baking powder
100 g butter
80 grams of flour
For the frosting :
100 grams of dark chocolate
preparation
Mix the ricotta with the sugar using electric beaters . Stir in eggs, cocoa , flour mixed with baking powder and finally the melted butter . Continue to beat until creamy mousse type. Now transfer the mixture into a baking pan lined with parchment paper and bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes.
For the icing melt the chocolate in a water bath, cut into pieces and spread with a spatula on the cake once it has cooled . At this point it can ' decorate with butterflies or roses sugar or colored tails~

Hi there ^^
I just realised that if we have a community from all over the world there must be people in here who can cook. As i really like to cook and try different recipes, i thought, maybe you can
a) tell me your favorite food (if possible from your country/region)
b) give me a recipe for it
That would be really awesome. Sure you can look on the net for some "original" recipes for this and that, but asking someone who lives where it comes from how he makes and what he uses as ingredients - that´s just soooo much better.
And now for the thing you really came here:
jip jip
Update:
startet today with cooking those recipes ^^
