"decrease the amount bundle giveaways faked as normal game"
Not very much. Like Lina said people would do it anyways and I'm sure a lot of people would say "Oh I didn't see that11!!" or something like that.

Me too, I just hope it won't affect people who gave away games that appeared in bundles but were not copies from bundles, because this would mean that no matter what, in the end honest and good willing contributors (ok, those just trying to get rid of games they don't like too, haha) are somehow screwed.

Good news, but I used to call bundlers Humble Bundle, Indie Royale, Bemine and the others. What d oi call the mnow ?

I only ask (community feel free to shoot me down if I'm out of line) that you somehow preserve the original gifting value on a vanity capacity if that will be effected by this change. So if joe-shmoe gives away $1000, and gets reduced to $500 (if that's how it will work, if not, disregard) that somewhere on his profile there is a vanity gifting value that still reads $1000, even if he can only enter contributor giveaways valued at $500 or less. Hope that makes sense and sounds reasonable XD

Does this count for people who giveaway steam gifts of Indie Games or Only Key Givers like form Indie Gala , Indie Royale etc ?

Proposal: Stop restricting them? Why is the policy even there?
Absolute worst-case, why not ask in the giveaway-creation dialog if it's a key. If it is, then it still costs points to enter, but generates none and doesn't count toward contributor value.

Proposal: Learn to fucking read. They've already decided on and are instituting a policy. They're not looking for suggestions. Also, your opinion is pretty worthless since you're so poorly informed you don't even know why the policy exists or why it's a problem. Are you in the habit of just throwing your dumbassed uninformed opinion out on whatever topic you come across, even though you don't have a clue what's going on? Why would you even do that? Just because it's a popular topic and you want to be like everyone else? Pretty pathetic.

Chill. He was simply suggesting an option, not demanding it. So maybe he doesn't know why Steamgifts doesn't allow indie bundles to be submitted. How about instead of going into defensive mode, you could of possibly told him/her why Steamgifts doesn't allow indie bundles to be submitted. Your outburst was just not needed.

Well everyone keeps saying the same thing so it's obvious he didn't bother reading/skimming the thread.

Wow. Now that's unnecessarily inflammatory to a whole new order of magnitude, right from the opener. No, I don't know why the policy exists or why it's a problem. That would be the purpose behind asking such a question--to find these things out. Which you have been completely unhelpful on, might I add. Perhaps you might care to prove the worth of your own opinion by your own measure, and tell me, hm?
Point two: Scroll up from this point, ignore all replies. That's what this thread looked like when I posted the above.
Point three? I'll make that simple. Your logical fallacy is: Ad-Hominem

Suggested solution: Making the said bundle games on a special separate dropdownlist called "Bundle Games". (Genius!)
Examples: Commands: Behind the lines, Bastion, Razor II, Making History, World of Goo, Fortix 2 etc.
If an user manages somehow to get non bundle copies of those (examples 1 2) , he won't be able to submit them unless he has given away a certain value of non-exploited games, he'll then have to submit a special ticket to the support section with a description on why his bundled games aren't from bundles, and that can be either approved or rejected by the moderators. If users don't provide coherent proofs, they'll be busted and get suspended. :)

Yeah, I agree with you, but I have a slight different idea: When a game become available on a bundle [ex: "Tiny Bang Story", on upcoming BuildABundle2], the mod shoud add an extra game entry on giveaways game list [ex: "Tiny Bang Story (bundle key)", with $1 value], but just remove the original game from game list [remove the "Tiny Bang Story" with normal $10 value], keeping the old entry just for history. So, after this moment, we can only make giveaways of the "new" Tiny Bang Story [with $1 value], discouraging the bundle key exploit. If someone wants to make a genuine giveaway of the "real" Tiny Bang Story ($10 value), I think they'll do it, even if they'll get a lower contributor value. [sorry for my brazilian self-taught english]. What the people here thinks about this idea?

I like this. How would the length of time the games remain as 'bundle keys' be decided though?
Comment has been collapsed.
Forever. Explaining this idea better: once a game appears in a bundle some admin need to create another entry for the same game, but with the [bundle] on description ($1 value as an example), an keep the "old" entry for this game ($10 value). This last one will only remain for history, but needs to be disabled for future giveaways. So we'll have the "old" giveaways ($10 value, now disabled for the eternity) and "new" giveaways ($1 value, available for future giveaways). So, once a game appears in a bundle, it'll remain as "low" value forever. And a "real" gifter wouldn't mind if (s)he gets a low contributor value in a freshly-created giveaway. Understand now? What do you think?

If you devalue the games that have been featured in bundles, I will not make giveaways from me leftover Serious Sam 2 keys that I bought during an Amazon promotion o.O
Other than that, I am curious how the new system will work ;)

I don't understand. What's wrong with people wanting to give things away for free? Why is the stupid policy even there? I'm just happy all these people are wanting to give away their games without getting anything in return. Now you're going to punish them for giving something away?!
Comment has been collapsed.
The problem is that people are only debundling these games to get added contributor value.

What the fuck did you just infect the internet with? That wasn't any known language.

I am now trying to decide if I should make ANY more contributions to this site. I have 5-7 games that I bought in bundles that I had doubles of. Besides the asinine nature of banning any giveaway, if you buy something on sale or in a bundle does that make it valueless? If I bought a case of toilet paper on clearance for $1 when it usually sells for 8 dollars, when I give it away to someone that has to pay 8 dollars for toilet paper is it somehow devalued to $1 because I got it on sale? It's still worth $8 to the person I gave it to. It's sick how greed and ego seems to run the world. One day it won't and the people that feed off of this stuff will be in dire circumstances. I guess there are 1%'ers in the gaming community too! SO maybe I should forget about giving any double games away or anything new away they'll just have to rot on the key pages and my gift inventory. The rules here make a lot of sense. NOT! I'm better than you because I give more away? A levelling is coming in the high places and low. Get ready for it. Rant Over!

It doesn't sound like you understand the actual rule in question. Perhaps reading the FAQ would help.

Or you could just post them on forums or give them to friends? Also seems a bit odd to make a comment about greed when charging $8 for toilet paper. But on a serious note, we don't even know what's happening with bundle games/keys yet. Wait and see.

You given one gift that you probably didn't even pay for. Not much of a threat.

I think this site should admit that the point system doesn't make sense anymore. A different system needs to be implemented.
Just a suggestion, how about reducing the winning chance of the winners by some small factor for every game, it could be reset after some period of time, that would alteast ensure that other peole win too. Or do it like playbink does, the winner of a giveaway canot enter another giveaway for the 3 days.

so what's happening loko? are you just removing those items that have once appeared in bundles from the giveaway list completely? i think i'm missing something
Comment has been collapsed.
can you guys maybe make a list of games in bundles, keep it updated... and add a script (or whatever) that calculates what % of games given are part of that list... and if that % is > 25% of the total giveaways then that person contribution value is lowered by 50% or something like that...
i know its not perfect, but it might work

Greetings community,
I want to discuss for a moment about bundle giveaways. You see, they've been a plague on SG. No one hates them more than Loko. I sometimes remove at least 50 a day for the last few weeks, but they just keep on submitting. People have been reporting them like crazy, which is great, but I usually end up with hundreds in my reported queue, which isn't so great. So, we fielded the community for what would be fair and thought about it long and hard. We've decided on a new way to handle bundles and I really hope majority of the community is satisfied with our response.
What we were worried about the most is hurting past "legitimate" giveaways, as we have no way of filtering if you submitted Bastion before the date it was thrown in a bundle. So, consider this a heads up and we apologize for the inconvenience in advance. Fortunately, Skyrim isn't in any of the bundles, so it should only affect the people that have massively submitted bundle titles. We also have been actively suspending bundle abusers (I call them bundlers) instead of seeking out and removing hundreds of giveaways.
The admin will update with something more official soon.
This has already been a really wicked summer and I hope everyone has been enjoying SteamGifts and the latest crazy deals.
-best regards
loko
