Apparently this time we can only nominate a game once, I can't put Disco Elysium both in best game and best story categories (not to mention innovative gameplay).

I haven't touched WF in 2019, so went with PD2.. despite everything I'm glad it is back into action.

I still play it daily but this time they don't deserve it with all the shit and bugs they put all the time, bugs that never got fixed since fortuna, and even older.
The lich rng over rng over rng nonsense needs to be sanctionned.
It will be Titan Quest for labour of love nominee from me.

Never touched VR either and the only one that came to my mind was that Trover game. Never played it and probably never will but thats what I voted for. I did notice I could nominate non-VR games for the VR catagory but decided not to in case I got called out on it.

but decided not to in case I got called out on it.
By whom? It's Valve's fault their voting system sucks. Not yours :D

True. Maybe I'll change my nomination back hahaha ^__^

I usually put one or two games I'm actually passionate about into the categories that make sense and for stuff like VR games or categories that shouldn't exist I try to make my nominations as ridiculous as possible.
Best alternate History:
Wolfenstein: The New Order
Am I allowed to say that as an Austrian? xD

Any ideas what games to check out just for this?
I usually put Woodle Tree Adventures just to point out to them how broken their voting system is.
Although Timberman is probably a better choice since Woodle Tree might actually be well suited for VR if it supported it. (simplistic graphics, bright and colourful)
Edit: Guess that no longer works. Well at least they are trying.

Tbh this is the easiest category for me. Although I know it won't win as nobody ever talks about it or tried it.
Dance Collider is by far my favorite vr game and the best rhythm game (and I think I've tried them all).
Well they will at least get one vote :)

That's amazing you just lift their total score by 100%!
Btw get yourself a VR headset, you'll need it. By far the easiest way to get moving. I'm the laziest person on this planet but now I move. Wasn't expecting this to be possible as I never got myself of the couch for over 50 years. It's just sooooo much fun to do.

I tend to get motion sick too, even after over a year of vr. Except for rhythm games. Lucky me as they are my favorite. Never heard anyone getting motion sick from them. That's because you actually move. Motion sickness appears when your eyes say you are moving but a tiny part in your ear (forgot the name) says you are not.
I see you are from Germany which means you can order a vr headset online with the right to get your money back within 2 weeks. Just give it a try, I'm sure you'll love it. Today is a good day to do so as Oculus Rift S has a black Friday deal!

RE2 for goty
I dont play VR, so i added Beat Saber

It isn't easy when you're a patient gamer and the few games you might actually have bought on release ended up being Epic exclusive. Ace Attorney for best story, Beat Saber for best VR, will see what games sound appropiate for the rest.

Now that look at it I realise it all the games I play are pretty old or at least not new to this year.

I only had four games played that were released in 2019. One was a demo and another a freebie. I had to get a bit creative...
Outstanding visual style for Islanders, outstanding story for Mutant Year Zero, and then a whole bunch of B.S. based on stuff I wouldn't mind playing at some point down the road. :P

On that same note, Star Wars Battlefront Classic is technically a 2019 game on steam.

I'm in the same boat; I haven't played a thing from this year. I also agree that remasters should be ineligible for nomination, along with Early Access games. I got a notification from a demo I'd played months ago to nominate their Early Access game for the Steam Awards, and the kicker is that the thing hit the store in 2018...

Don't Starve Together as labour of love
Otherwise I'm quite uncertain. I have not played any new games outside of Treasure hunter simulator, which will be my pick for outstanding visuals/eye candy.

i just put some random stuff in for most of them because i hardly ever play games in the year they come out

They are asking for games you suck at not for games that just plainly suck.
Seriously... A game by a formerly big studio where enemies die with exactly the same animation regardless if you kill them with a headshot, a grenade, a melee attack, ultimate or a shot to the groin? I still can't really understand it considering Halo was once the genre primus when it comes to gunplay and intuitive controlls. Not even the hitboxes feel right in D2.
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess we could also add to your woes about D2 the fact that bullets got magnetism. xD
I assumed that was just a console problem with developers assuming people can't aim with analogue sticks. But that was exactly what I ment with the hitboxes don't feel right. When I miss an enemy by roughly a meter and he dies that makes it feel unsatisfying when I actually manage to pull of a headshot.
But yeah, you're right it wasn't all bad. It was mainly the unsatisfying gunplay that really pissed me off. (and the fact they made Expansion pass 1 free roughly 2 weeks after my buddies and I had bought it - but apparently I could have known because the same thing happened with D1)

Should've made it games within 3 years, with the labor of love being over that. Sure lots of games come out every year but that doesn't mean they're good enough to win an award.
Some better categories would be nice too, I only have true nominations for half of these.

"Games released this year that you've played and other possibilities: Yakuza Kiwami"... Well, I sure have a huge variety of choices here! [/s]
(And that one is a gift from a friend, so I haven't bought a single "new" game.)
Guess I'll just copy/paste other people's answers from this thread since I'm not even sure which games came out this year. XD
At least I can pick CrossCode for Labor of Love. ^_^
Edit: Quick tip for anyone else who's unsure of when stuff released- the games in our Wishlists have their Release Dates shown and you can easily tell which ones there came out this year since most of them only have a month and day listed, without a year.

Ah, CrossCode... never expected it to be that good honestly. The problem is I stopped playing near the end, and now it will be hard to get back to it. Those dungeon puzzles were top notch, how they manage to design them like that is beyond me, pure mastery. :)

most games you cant nominate and they hand pick and feed you all the games you can pick but The Labor of Love, that can be anything

Nah, I found the trick.

I don't really mind that, I kinda like that people used to vote whatever they felt like time and time again, it felt a lot less artificial. I don't think many people minded it not being very useful, it was a bit of fun while grinding the steam meta-game.
