How was the transition for currencies before today's update? Did the publishers adjust their prices a few days later? With the lower prices now, I'm sitting on the fence on whether to buy a few games right now or wait for a sale.

Guess I'll go prepare my anus, no doubt we'll get ripped on here now like we do with everything else. Loved how long it took them to adjust prices when our dollar was at par with the US one, yet they reset everything within a week once it went back to the usual >.<

THANK YOU STEAM! I love this new conversion rate!

But most AAA games have "AllowCrossRegionTradingAndGifting - No" tag lately

Doesn't mean much. Beyond Earth doesn't have store warning but gifts have message:
"This is a restricted gift which can only be redeemed in these countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand"

Yeah, stuff are cheaper in the Malaysia store too. For example, Borderlands PreSequel is priced at RM105 ($32)

can someone from US region give me a price check on a mann co supply crate key in the marketplace please?
i don't remember them being that expensive :(

Assuming you're open to trading these higher prices could be beneficial to you, instead of purchasing keys from the market just look for them on ST and you should easily find a few high rep traders that are selling them at $1.85-$2.00 at any given moment, you would need paypal for that however.

Every couple of days, they dip down to $2.35 briefly. I've put in Buy orders at that and have never had to wait more than a couple of days. Even though the price doesn't seem to get that low, I think its something about currency variations that makes it match up.

I'm now at this point where i can only get fun from videogames by purchasing them, and price bugs only sweeten the deal. I honestly don't remember last time i was immersed into something ever since Fallout: New Vegas

question is, if they will retro-lock those games. ^^

Does this mean games are going to become more expensive for other countries? Or that other currencies are worth more in USD?

Dear Steam User,
Steam will soon be priced in Canadian Dollar!
If your Steam wallet has any money in it on October 7th, 2014 (Pacific Time), your U.S. Dollar balance will be converted to the Canadian Dollar, at a conversion rate dictated by market value at the time of conversion.
To view your account balance, simply log into your Steam client or the Steam website at http://www.steampowered.com. Once you have logged in, you will see your balance in the upper-right corner next to your account name.
Thanks,
The Steam Support Team

bump for the hype for the last batch of new currencies. the date is October 21st, 2014.
inessential note: i like how steam send the e-mail in turkish as well but didn't use turkish characters. let's hope it's the sign of future price errors.

Now this is potentially some big news.
Remember at the start of the year when Steam announced new curencies on Dev Day?.
Seems like it's finally coming on September 16 for some countries. Just got an email about it a few hours ago. FYI Steam is looking to support the Australian dollar, the Canadian dollar, the Indonesian rupiah, the Japanese yen, the Malaysian ringgit, the Mexican peso, the New Zealand dollar, the Norwegian krone, the Philippine peso, the Singapore dollar, the South Korean Won, the Turkish Lira, the Thai baht, and the Ukrainian hryvnia (in the future). Not all the countries will have their currencies changed on Sept 16, but many will.
Local currency conversion dates
So, lower prices or terrible conversion rate? Guess it depends on your country. The retailers in my country seems to price their products at roughly the same price as Steam, with disc versions 2 to 3 dollars more expensive.
Email I got
Edit: Wow some stuff are actually cheaper now for me. L4D2 and Deus Ex are ONLY $5 SGD ($4 USD) for me now!
Edit 2: Canadian Dollar and Norwegian Krone to be added on 8 Oct. Stay tuned for price changes!
