I didn't know if I should get L.A. Noire or Borderlands 2 but my friends convinced me to buy LAN. I really loved it after 30+ hours of gameplay. I don't really know why, but I felt so immersed in the game world...

Too many games to list them here but since I rarely pay for full retail price, I would list XCOM: Declassified as my most regretted as I preordered it and I was greatly disappointed.

Is XCOM still worth getting on sale? As I've been trying to get my hands on it

State of Decay - Not really my type of game, found it was boring. Hitman: Absolution - To be fair, I didn't give this much of a chance, before I moved on to a new game, but it was recently bundled, and I bought it not too long before that. Space Hulk - This one was meh for me, though I didn't play much either. WAY too much luck involved I feel. Thankfully I didn't spend much on 'em xD

I rather enjoyed State Of Decay. Not a game I can play of hours on end though as it gets a bit repetitive. The new hitman game was meh. Blood Money was the best IMO

And preferably play it with someone else, so that you can focus on different things. Trying to do a jack of all trades build did not work all that well in that game, but being 3 persons who cooperate, all with different equipment, was actually quite fun.

Verdun due to it had a lot of issues for me AND it is a camp feast.
Age of wonders 1 due to it being good in my memory but i just couldn't stand it now.
Oblivion because i was going to buy the skyrim bundle but due to being tired i took the wrong one during a sale.. I guess i could mod the shit out of it some day but i guess that won't ever happen :P

I rarely regret games very much, because I'm quite frugal when it comes to my gaming budget. I usually aim for $20 or less for physical copies and under $10 for Steam games. You can forgive a lot for the right price.
My biggest gaming regret is purchasing Left4Dead at full price years ago. I bought the hype and thought it was going to be some amazing new game. Nope.
A more recent regret was getting Mafia II: Director's Cut for 360 for about $10. Its just a boring game in a lifeless city. Fortunately I didn't pay enough to regret it very long.

eh it is all right for now just playing creative as the dev seem to be adding more stuff the community wanted but they need to have a major overhaul for the survival aspect of the game
