Pretty much the question explains itself. I mean, I've seen a lot of outrage on the internet about horse meat on things, and I kinda thing that it's a pretty good meat.

I mean, I do like some horse burgers and stuff, it's tasty. So I was wondering where the problem is.

Also as a follow up question, what do you think about eating rabbit?

Nah, you can't buy horse meat here in South Africa. At least not labelled as such ;) But we can eat another riding animal: Ostrich!

I'm not cool with eating rabbit because I had rabbits as pets.

I don't eat horse but have a horse

I wouldn't mind eating horse but isn't the meat stringier than cow?
I mean, I look at my horse and he's more muscle than fat, I wouldn't like eating that

Somewhat, I've actually only eaten it grounded to be honest, and that way is not stringy. I don't know how a steak would turn out.

I've had both horse and rabbit.

I don't like horse as much as I find the meat a little coarse, (It would have probably needed to be prepared differently.) I do love rabbit meat though.

Yeah, grounded or like heavily cooked in a stew or something should be the way to go imo, it's too coarse maybe for like a grilled steak or something.

It's basically like game, I guess.

The reason for the horse meat drama a while back comes from countries that don't eat it not having proper safety stuff surrounding its consumption, some of the horse meat that entered the food chain was toxic.

Not that I'd eat it anyway, killing sentient things is just poor manners.

About rabbits it's perfectly normal to eat them, even though it's not my favourite kind of meat so I avoid it

I have had horse steak and burger before, didn't like it better or worse than the cow version, just was different. Regarding eating strictly "pet" animals, those bitches would eat you if you died and they had nothing to eat, so it would be illogical to treat them any differently if you were starving (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ KITTY BURGERS FOR EVERYONE!

cultural reasons. also to prevent the peasantry from stealing racing horses just to slaughter them (horse breeding is pretty important in the countryside).

anyway, i wouldn't eat horse.

Permalink

Allow me to laugh, but the concept of peasants stealing horses to eat sounds pretty medieval to me.

Nothing wrong with not eating it tho, to each their own.

Permalink

i know, it's a situation to both laugh and cry. people are so stupid that they would slaughter a horse worth millions of dollars just to get meat valued at less than $3000... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
