Nvidia for sure and EVGA for the win because of new frame metering technology. The big problem with AMD cards is micro stuttering and all their cards are just pumping out as many fps as possible. Nvidia's Kepler cards already have hardware based frame metering to help ensure that frames are displayed smoothly. click here.

NVIDIA!!!!!!!! :)
My first gaming class GPU was a AMD and it worked great (for a while)... I've always had issues. Whether a bad transistor or the satuttering and tearing issues they have been notorious for imo. Anyway in my personal experience, I've always had issues with their Catalyst command programs and the equivalent. I finally switched to Nvidia when the 200 series came out and was pleased beyond my expectations. I call em as I see em and for me it comes down to personal experience. In that case Nvidia has always outperformed (even if more costly) for me than AMD. With that said, I am very impressed/pleased with AMD's latest tech vs cost vs performance ratios. So Nvidia, even though AMD has always showed promise Sorry not to technical, I'm tired lol ;)

From personal experience, it's quite the opposite. I've had two nVidia cards, one of which lasted about a year before dying, and the other a mere 2 months before shooting up to 70°C without actually doing anything.
Now I have two AMD cards, and I've gotta say, nothing but praise for them, I've never had the slightest problem with either of them.

AMD and Nvidia are both great. The only true difference between them is PhysX support. If I were you, I would go with the 7970 because it's faster.

Overclocked cards likely will not last as long, but if you can get it with a three to five year warranty that covers heat-related failure, go for it. Stock cards are meant to last 3-5 years at minimum, barring any RMAs.

nVidia. I've had previous experiences with an nVidia card, and it worked wonderfully. I have an AMD card, and it isn't as good as the previous nVidia card.

GTX 460 overheating really? I have had it for years and its incredibly cool, what brand? I have an EVGA.

Yeah...I heard from multiple people that Zotac is pretty bad cooler wise, thats probably it, the BSOD's were probably because of the overheating. I would not bash Nvidia on that sorta experience, sucks big time though.

Okay,I thought I was going to buy an AMD radeon 7970 GHz edition (the overclocked one) but then I read some stories about AMD's cards dying really fast. Is this true? Another option for me would be a GTX 670 SC, but its weaker than the 7970.
-UPDATE: Already bought and installed the Radeon 7970.
