ur not really contributing to steamgifts when you only give away in a private group of very few people. your just using steam gifts as a tool.

That's ur personal opinion, and tbh i really think u should keep it to urself.

sorry but it is my opinion and i can share if i want so i did. maybe you should post on a private forum if its that much of a concern

Well your opinion sucks and that's my opinion so I can share it if I want ;) I love the group function of SG, it lets groups of friends - especially forum goers - give gifts to each other without picking and choosing. It's better than Randomize.org and it has a nice community aspect to it too.
I do find it pretty hilarious that you complain about people using private groups when you, yourself, won something from a private giveaway. Pot calling kettle, come in kettle :P

Yes and its beautifull that u can share isnt it.
im not complaining about someone using private groups. Im saying that the term "contributing to steamgifts" doesnt really apply when the person does all their giveaways in a private group. cause the only contribution there is to the private group not the steamgifts community. so please dont put words in my mouth, and think about what people say more before you form an opinion.

i never said anyone was obligated to anything..... it just looks very self centered to contribute to a very small minority and then make a thread boasting about how much they have given to the community as a whole. makes me wonder why people do giveaways? is it to do something for others or for themselves....

It's a bit of both, but why are you so hung up on that? I've gifted lots because yes, it makes me feel good about myself, that's hardly a crime. I gift and it makes people happy and in turn that makes me happy -- the converse is the same when I win; I feel grateful and happy. I don't complain that it's not fair for people to only gift to groups because, and to be brutally honest, neither I nor anyone else has that right. Their money, their gifts, their choice who gets the chance to win :)

again im not complaining about the concept og groups, im just sayings this thead is ironic for the OP to have made and consider a small group to be a contribution to the "steamgifts community" when the steamgifts community is far greater than 30 or sp people.

Also this site /COmmunity" has a horrible tendancy to lookdown on others that havent given anything away or have given less than someone else. its very poor taste and someone people that come here do so cause they dont have the resources / financial means to buy as many games as they want much less give away their hard earned money. I think its great and awesome that so many people are so generous to give away as much as they do, but sometimes it seems those same people are very snobby and look down on others that arent on the same "level" as them. it makes it look like they only do giveaways so they can have a sense of self centeredness and make themselves feel better than others in away. which is just wrong. Im not directing this at anyone whatsoever, its just a vibe i have gotten from the general feel of this site. internet snobbs that want to make themselves feel better than others and then rub it in their face and call them leeches

I agree snobbish behaviour is ugly, but then... so is begging/leeching, something that is equally prevalent on here, which is yet another reason why so many people prefer group giveaways. That way people don't feel like they're just throwing out free stuff to ungrateful beggars. When we use groups, we know the people we're gifting to and it feels better for all involved -- the gifters get satisfaction of knowing their gifts are appreciated, and the recipients enjoy higher chances of winning. It's win/win :)

yes i understand the concept and i think its a good idea. and begging is bad yes, i just hate that some people use that as an excuse to label anyone that doesnt/cant give a leecher even if they havent done any begging. but oh well thats just how it is sometimes.

Well I must admit that I don't have the highest of regards for people that just take and don't give back, it depends on circumstances usually. There are members here that have been here for six+++ months, won plenty of times yet and never giving anything back - either to groups, privately or publicly. I have little regards for people like that and, yes, I would probably brand said person a leecher. With the amount of sales Amazon/Steam/etc have, there's little to no reason why you can't snag a cheap bargain for gifting.

I think it was Borderlands 2 which I paid the most for or the Crysis collection which had the highest points value
