wanted to make HL2 levels. Bought a physical Orange Box (this was like 2009/2010). Downloaded STEAM, redeemed my orange box, never made 1 single map.
1 year later i bought Super Monday Combat cause a friend played it. I played 80 minutes.
Then 2011 Xmas Sale came... and it got me

Thank you and congrats :D
Joined Steam around the time of Orange Box, lost interest after, regained it when my PS3 started to piss me off. (Looking at you, CoD)
That was around the time Skyrim got released. Since then, i kinda fell in love with the service <3 :D

I was able to nab Portal for free on the second to last day of the event. Didn't use it for a while, cause I lacked a dedicated graphics card, but now that I do have one, Steam has become my gaming center.

My father made this account, but I got it a short while after he made it, because he was inactive. It only had Half-Life 2 and CS:S on it at that time. I only started to buy games after 2010, when I got a new PC that could actually run games that was made after 2004.

I made it back when I got the Half Life 2 GOTY edition that included HL2, CS:S, HL1, plus the deathmatches. After playing those I was inactive for a couple of years until I heard somewhere that they were giving Portal 1 away for free for a period. I picked that up and played it, which I enjoyed, but then I saw that the original F.E.A.R. plus its expansions were only ten dollars, so I bought that too. And I've stuck with Steam ever since. Six years of service, here.

It's my 9th Steam Anniversary today. I can hardly believe it's been nine years already since I first reluctantly signed up for a Steam account. All because I just wanted to play some Counter-Strike, but this Steam thingy was suddenly a non-optional nuisance that had to be dealt with first. Why would I want to keep my games on some kind of server? To... download? What? It didn't make any sense at all. Fast forward nine years and, well, I don't need to tell you...
Anyway, this calls for a celebration. And that means some giveaways are in order, and I think nine giveaways sounds about right.
I'm far too lazy (and stupid) to make some kind of elaborate puzzle or whatever, so what I'll do is (are you ready for this, you might want to take a seat and write this down...) link to the giveaways right here:
Here's number one
Here's number two
Here's number three
Here's number four
Here's number five
EDIT: Here's number six
EDIT: Number seven was hidden in the source for a while. Here it is
EDIT: Number eight is in this thread. Look for it :)
EDIT: Here's number nine)
Yep, nothing too exciting I'm afraid, and these last ones aren't super shiny fancy titles, but they aren't bundle games either, so you might want to come back and check later :p
Also, feel free to share the reason you first made a Steam account. I'd like to hear your stories :)

UPDATE:
Thanks to everyone who replied. I enjoyed reading your comments, even if I didn't reply to each single one. People have asked me why I asked entrants to comment on the giveaways. The answer is simple: I wanted to see if people would read and follow a simple request. You can see for yourself how that went.
ALL WINNERS HAVE BEEN ADDED ON STEAM. GIFTS WILL BE DELIVERED VIA STEAM CHAT/TRADE, SO PLEASE ACCEPT MY FRIEND REQUEST.
