The number is decreasing too slowly. Is the sample spread too thin?
If all 85K+ categs are up for marking at every moment, chance are pretty slim that a desired number of users will see them all. And by the rate in which the number of uncategorized threads are droppings, it looks like this is indeed the case. Can you shrink the pool of threads that come up in the categorization tool (for example to the ones that were marked at least by 1 user)? Then refill it later on, when certain % of them gets categorized.

I'm pretty sure that not all threads are in the current pool. After over 1,300 I've not yet seen a thread from 2 years ago or more, so I'm thinking that the later threads are either not in the pool, are weighted to appear less, or probability is just being weird for me again. But yeah, the algorithm could probably be changed if we want more rapid resolution of individual threads.

Especially since I seemed to have missed this thread entirely. I created a thread when V2.0 launched that got people to move about 1200 threads, but that still left a couple dozen active threads Uncategorized as well as thousands of closed ones.

There should really be a category for people that just want to give crap away, i.e. key drops, celebratory giveaways. Probably one for discussing specific games/genres as well. Otherwise, Off-topic is going to be a massive collection of most threads.

I find it hard to categorize a thread based non descriptive titles.
So the problem being that after opening the post and reading it to see how best to categorize it, I cannot go back to the vote page for that particular post.
Maybe you should somehow let us at least read the post before being able to vote, as most titles are pretty vague, and at times too vague to be certain of how to vote accurately.

Good point actually, I normally have too many tabs open but one more wont be a problem : )

I'm doing it and will keep doing it gladly. Always a pleasure to help the community :)
I just have a suggestion: I'd need also a "Trash" category (for those posts which would be better to erase, like closed ones that sometimes only have a title, for example)

I have a question... What should I do with a thread which is breaking the rules?
For example, a begging or trading thread. Mark as unknown, or off-topic?

Got the same issue when I tried it out. Sorry for necroing. :D

It'd be really nice if people would go through all of their past threads and made sure they all had categories Dx Oh well, it's giving me something to do since I don't have any urge to do anything else right now -.-

I made a bookmarked folder with a bunch of cat gifs in it. I think I'm good. Will just you let me pretend that I am helping SG? ;~;

Aweh, not even a full body shot? Damn. I'd really love to pikachu.
On a side note, I've been categorizing for an hour and have categorized 300 threads so far today.
45 minutes after posting this comment: I have 'categorized' a total of 700 discussions. 500 just today.
Final edit: I spent 2 and a half hours categorizing, and I now have helped categorize 1,000 discussions.

Yeah, I literally just finished 5 minutes ago. I categorized over 800 discussions today.

Am I the only one who still does this from time to time?

Got my first vote wrong. Didn't pay attention, will do with the rest.

We have nearly 90,000 uncategorized discussions, and fewer than 90,000 support users, so we're looking for a little help. The below page pulls a random discussion that's uncategorized, and a list of available categories. By clicking on a category, you're voting to move that discussion to the category you selected. After you vote, another random discussion will appear to repeat the process. Once we have a large enough sample size, we'll move the uncategorized discussions to the categories where they received the highest number of votes. Thanks for helping us out!
If you have any questions about categories, or if you feel we're missing a category that might be useful, let us know.

Edit: To clarify a bit, the General category should be used for SteamGifts and Steam related discussions (How do I get points?, Fortix Giveaway, Should I Buy Portal?, Is Steam Down?, etc) and Off-Topic for everything unrelated.
