Shouldn't we NOT be able to vote for Announcements?
Also, should threads like "I never win giveaways!!! D:" but are actually hidden puzzles, go to Puzzles?
Should threads like that but just directly give keys or private giveaway links without a puzzle go to General?
Edit: Wait, I see now. They would be very rare, but Announcements should be used to vote for cg's threads.

Greatt idea... can you add a GA section?
for drops or links etc. they are not puzzles, so i feel weird putting them there - i guess :ets play together could work...

If they're trading/begging for Steam games, General. If they're trading/begging for cats, Off-Topic.

What if it's off-topic with a giveaway? What's more important? Off-topic or giveaway?
What if the thread looks unrelated but it's actually a hidden giveaway? It will be categorized wrongly.
Those categories are so poorly chosen... They are based on what admins would like it to look like, not what the community actually needs.

Go with whatever seems like the primary purpose of the discussion. Is it an off-topic discussion, where they just included a link to a giveaway, or a discussion about their giveaway, with a mention to something off-topic?

We can't investigate every topic in a search for hidden puzzles, so I'd simply look at the discussion for a few seconds, and go with the category that comes to mind. If it's an off-topic description, and they squeezed a hidden giveaway into a hyperlinked period that you overlooked, I wouldn't wouldn't lose any sleep over it. However, if you can easily identify it as being a puzzle, then place it in that category.

Sorry man, it must be said... cg masochist.... Confirmed! Still, absolutely love what you've done with the place!!! That said, I'm a huge Strongbad (Deleted!!!) fan and Monty Python fan(SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM), even had kaitlyn close one of my threads. Had it been deleted altogether I would NOT have been offended. A small announcement about pending thread deletion and making a copy of any puzzles super deeply hidden would go a long way sanity and morale wise for you and your support crew.
just saying

No topics are being deleted, we're just moving topics from uncategorized to the appropriate category. If someone posted a top secret puzzle last year that's disguised as an off-topic discussion, it might be placed in off-topic, instead of puzzles, because we were unable to identify it as a puzzle. Also, if a user has any uncategorized topics, they can select the category themselves, instead of allowing the community to vote on the category they feel is most relevant.

After helping categorize 100 topics I noticed I was given the same topic twice, once. Was this on purpose to make sure we don't just random click on categories?
Neat idea by the way. Seeing so many uncategorized topics messes with my OCD. :P

I would suggest the following extra categories:
Right now everything falls under General or Off-topic and I feel those categories will become too broad.
Edit: PS what is the difference now between General and off-topic?

Nice way to kill time while you are waiting those 5 points to generate to enter another giveaway D:

We have nearly 90,000 uncategorized discussions, and fewer than 90,000 support users, so we're looking for a little help. The below page pulls a random discussion that's uncategorized, and a list of available categories. By clicking on a category, you're voting to move that discussion to the category you selected. After you vote, another random discussion will appear to repeat the process. Once we have a large enough sample size, we'll move the uncategorized discussions to the categories where they received the highest number of votes. Thanks for helping us out!
If you have any questions about categories, or if you feel we're missing a category that might be useful, let us know.

Edit: To clarify a bit, the General category should be used for SteamGifts and Steam related discussions (How do I get points?, Fortix Giveaway, Should I Buy Portal?, Is Steam Down?, etc) and Off-Topic for everything unrelated.
