Why bother with Steam trading cards?

I bought my way to level 10 from 8, just for the showcase.

By the way if I have no card drops remaining and I got to level 10, do I earn another card drop to earn the foil cards?
Also is foil card hard to get?

I crafted a badge for Portal 2, and then just sold the rest of my cards to buy giveaway games. I've got a Universe Sandbox giveaway open right now that only cost me 12 cents!

If you are not bothered about a badge, which is a tiny cosmetic feature, why don't you just sell all your cards, and buy a background and emoticon cheap on the market?
Aren't background and emoticons «tiny cosmetic feature» as well?

Yo gotta pay money to level up so it sucks donkey balls.

Why bother? I had about $3 or less in my Steam wallet before this came out, I now have almost $17 and I'm not level 10 never touched a foil.

Basically what I've figured I'd do is sell every card I can get, even trade a few humble bundle games for cards if people want them, keep building up. If I feel like hitting level 10, then wait for the cards to come out of beta when the TF2 card prices will drop the most since everyone has access (it already has gone down 10 cents since I got in), then buy enough to hit level 10. Play another game if I still have one eligible for cards and hope I get a foil, if not, I minimized my losses and at least I have steam wallet for stuff I really want.

Sell them on market and buy TF2 keys for games.

I traded all my cards for TF2 cards just to get 10 for the showcase. I don't even play TF2, lol.

you need to get to level 10 before you can use the background features etc so the best way of going up levels is collectin card groups

because... cards! and levels and shit!!

Because they give me FREE money.

I bother with Steam trading cards because they're free, tradeable, and people are paying for them.

I find it funny ONLY people who sell cards are actually happy about this thing...

you can sell them to get other stuff or you can craft them to get cool backgrounds and emoticons.

i buy them and im also happy to spend Poeple a little bit money. Its the same way im and other guys spend here any games for any guys. Its simple in a beta and im sure later in this process, it is a go good investement :)
And im really dont understand why so many poeple are angry about a fact they becommes free money for they games
