Do you think time travel is possible?
I think that it is, and ufo and aliens are just evolved future humans coming back in time to observe modern day us (And cows for some reason.)

AFAIK it is totally possible.

We do not have the resources to travel any significant amount of time, although astronauts could travel a few seconds after years in the space.

Interesting topic, a few of my own opinions with a few additional "theories" added.
Do I believe time travel is possible? No.
Will it ever be possible? No.
Why do I think this? Simply put, where are they? If time travel exists, why is there no credited provable account of it ever happening. We have around 2,500+ years of recorded history and possible millions of future years to come, in that entire time not one person has been able to travel to any point in the past. In my opinion this leads to one conclusion, time travel never gets invented in the entire history of the human race.
However, a few theories have been posited that can refute my belief, I'd be remiss to not mention them. One being that time travel is only possible to and from the point in which it gets invented. So for example, if time travel gets invented tomorrow, forever people will be able to travel freely from that point onwards however never before. So if it does get invented tomorrow, no one will ever be able to visit "today" as the means of a point to travel to never existed.
Then there is the ever present "Grandfather Paradox", time travel can not exist due to the paradoxical nature of effecting points in time. If you travelled back in time and killed your grandfather, he could never have your father, who would never have you, meaning you could never go back in time to kill your grandfather. Arguments against this state that no matter what you did, time would prevent you from killing him. Say you went back to kill him, you held a gun to his head and pulled the trigger, the gun would jam. Say you poisoned him, he would accidentally be sick and throw up the poison and so on.
Additional to that is the alternate dimension/string theory hypothesis. Where time travel does exist but every time you "leap" as it where to another time frame you cross into an alternate dimension. So say you went back in time and killed your Grandfather, you would kill your Grandfather, meaning your father never got born, meaning that THIS dimensions version of you was never born, however your version of you from an alternate timeline would still exist as your Grandfather was never killed by a visiting time traveller.
The tenth level of String Theory is an infinite number or infinite possibilities in an infinite number of worlds in an infinite number of universes. So if you are a subscriber to string theory I suppose in some ways time travel HAS to exist in some way shape or form, just like there is a universe called Rand McNally where people where shoes on their head and Hamburgers eat people.
TL;DR: I'm a nerd and made an obscure Simpsons reference during a discussion about time travel.

However, that's assuming that by time traveling, you mean restoring the world to a previous time and retaining your memories of the future you. If we are speaking of time traveling as in "teleporting" your body (and mind) through time, that's an entirely different matter. It would mean that:
In both cases, altering the world in any way may have some pretty massive consequences, some of which could even lead the "past you" changing his or her behavior resulting in the "future you" to never time travel in the first place... therefore probably halting your existence (as some kind of a future clone - the past you will still live on).
This leads us to the realization that in either case, if time traveling is possible, we probably don't exist in one world but rather multiple very similar parallel worlds. Among other science-fiction movies and novels, the anime Steins;Gate covers that pretty well - every single small decision makes our "world line" split into more lines. Time traveling is simply jumping from on line to another. The further you go horizontally from your "origin" world line, the greater the world is changed unless a small decision causes massive changes to the entire world, or a great part of it (such as a war suddenly breaking out).
The amount of theories about time traveling is huge. The possibilities of what can or can't, will or won't, should or shouldn't; are endless. Time traveling isn't likely to be possible in my opinion, and the fact that every theory can be turned down easily due to things which don't add up doesn't really increase the credibility of time traveling.

Indeed, and you put it into words better than me. :)

I am among those who don't believe time travel to ever be attainable or exist, and that the mere two reasons for power or historical purposes are very poor reasons for any such form of fantasy travel to exist.

Maybe he witnessed that, in the future, getting the lady's phone number would lead to severe heartbreak. Or maybe he wants her for himself ;_;

Since the dawn of time, humans have been curious about the possibilities of going backwards in time, or forwards. To date, there has never been evidence that proves it possible, but, depending on how one looks at it, it's never been disproven either. So, I decided that I'm going to personally prove (or disprove) it, and you're all going to be a part of it! I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out ;)
I made a fun little game: Here's a giveaway for Back to the Future: The Game. The giveaway ended roughly 20 minutes ago. So far, nobody entered. If it still receives no entries by the time I wake up, then I'll have disproved time travel, and I'll redo the giveaway and post the link the discussions. So look out for the results! :D
Edit: The new giveaway has been created. Check it out in this thread right here!
