So, I created a particular Steam group for players of a particular game who are speakers of a particular language, to try and establish a small community to meet and play online etc.

Then a guy added me, asked to join, and as I was checking his profile I noticed he only owned 7 games and I thought he must be new and I'd give him a game from my trading list (on this very website) as a welcome present. I linked him the url to my steamtrades thread so he could pick the one he wanted, and he basically accused me of being "one of those guys" who was trying to steal his account, and unfriended me.

Me being the fool that I am, wanted to defend my honor, told him that he was wrong, and it took some long explaining + 2 free games to convince him that I wasn't a thief. He kind of apologized later, but said apology was somewhat offset by a remark along the lines of "well, those games aren't very good after all, are they?".

I'm not even mad at him. And I don't give the slightest f*ck about the games. I just feel sad.

I'm really sorry to hear about that. The fact that the person was skeptical about getting free stuff can be understandable due to the user being new on Steam... However, saying that a game is crappy after being given to for absolutely nothing, that's a fucking huge jackass move. I'm just glad that you aren't letting it get to you too much...

I once was messaged by a user about how they had invited a bunch of their friends to my group and that he was wondering if I would give him a free game for his "work". Obviously, I told him that I didn't usually do that, but that I would make an exception.
I showed him a list of games I could give him from TremorGames.
Almost immediately, he said "could you give me a TF2 key?"
I said that no, I wouldn't give him a TF2 key.
"Okay, then CS:GO"
No.
"Gmod?"
...Do you think he understands the meaning of "no"? Better get a translator to help us communicate Beggar -> English. Finally, he picks a game, so I tell him to message me some other day to claim the game (I had to wait until tremorGames sent it)... at this point, any and all motivation I had had left me, and I didn't really care to give the game to the person... However, I wasn't about to break my "promise". When I say something, I usually intend to honor it.

Luckily, the days passed and the person never messaged me again. Either they forgot, or they didn't care enough to claim the game.
I ended up creating a giveaway for the game here on Steamgifts. Good ending unlocked, +1000 XP.

Hey, I am really sorry to hear what happened :-( I hope you'll be ok with "Hey, I lived up to my own personal standards of offering friendship but it wasn't well-received. Their loss not mine."

Seriously, not everyone in this world is gonna be best buds with us - we can only attempt to bridge a "virtual" gap... some will cross it and become strong bonds. Others? Not so much... it's just life as we know it, right?

Lastly, have some virtual Momo hugs {{{hugs}}] wonders what fresh new hell/formatting issues those parens will cause!

Sorry to hear that. His lack of understanding and compounded with the fear of getting hijacked resulted in this incident, as far as I can see.

Yeah, I can get the point where people are wary of free stuff. Especially on the internet.
But complaining after you get something for free is ... always kind of weird, unless it's clearly meant as a joke.

Still respect for not just giving up!

It's unfortunate that he jumped the gun but I can understand his concern about attempting to steal his account. I get those almost daily. Complaining about the games though? That was pretty asinine of him. Sorry that you had to go through that.

You don't need the anime name right?
I mean it's the usual passerby question.. "What anime?" xD

I used Google's Reverse Image Search right away to find the name of the anime. I'm watching it right now actually and I like it so far, quite interesting. I hope it wont disappoint on the romance part.

Yeah people should use google image search more

I should tell you this
It's not the anime-related but it's manga-related
Expect unfinished story
Because the author died before the story finished, the ending fells forced a lot :(

Ow man, that's sad.

I only watch anime though, I don't like manga because they're black and white and I find reading from right to left kinda awkward.

I'll have to get over that one day though since there are some anime that wont be getting new seasons and I really want to see how the story progresses.

you cant blame yourself for that. some people really have no idea how to differentiate a phishing link from a legit link and they go paranoid that they'll lose their account.
the action was also fishy for him, since youre a random guy that added him to give him a free game.

"well, those games aren't very good after all, are they?"

that's funny. its that type of guy who doesnt buy any games, dislikes indie games, and plays only AAA 60 euros games. shouldn't have given him anything.

Given the huge number of steam scammers who love sending phishing links I "kinda" don't blame him for the behavior.

Edit: But after receiving the games, no matter how "shitty" they are, they are still games and he shouldn't have acted that way after finally getting them.
