So, I created a particular Steam group for players of a particular game who are speakers of a particular language, to try and establish a small community to meet and play online etc.

Then a guy added me, asked to join, and as I was checking his profile I noticed he only owned 7 games and I thought he must be new and I'd give him a game from my trading list (on this very website) as a welcome present. I linked him the url to my steamtrades thread so he could pick the one he wanted, and he basically accused me of being "one of those guys" who was trying to steal his account, and unfriended me.

Me being the fool that I am, wanted to defend my honor, told him that he was wrong, and it took some long explaining + 2 free games to convince him that I wasn't a thief. He kind of apologized later, but said apology was somewhat offset by a remark along the lines of "well, those games aren't very good after all, are they?".

I'm not even mad at him. And I don't give the slightest f*ck about the games. I just feel sad.

Well, nowadays it's strange that a stranger offers you a free game, and since he was a new user he was very cautious. Maybe he overreacted, but it's clear he didn't know this site and it is better being cautious. Now well, his last remark was totally inappropiate :/

Man that really sucks, some people just don't appreciate offers from kind people like yourself. Try to not take it to heart, some people either have bad experiences or just aren't worth gifting a game. Keep doing you though! Whitelisted :D

I can see his impression but if he looked at your profile he should not have come to that conclusion since most are level 0's and promise to give you half life 3. Which is funny and made it clear that particular profile was a theif.

this is a simple misinterpretation of your kindness others givers have run into real douches who take the gift and then click not received and then run the same giveaway as their own. so you are lucky

To be fair, it's usually the safest route to assume someone is a scammer/hacker...and people, aren't usually known for their generosity. So, I don't and can't really blame him for thinking you might be up to no good...however, once he was convinced that you are just a really good person, the remarks about the games not being good was kinda BS......Especially since he wound up taking two....

It's people like that, that make me not like people..

I don't blame him for actin'spicious™. I was kind of sad because of the fact that an insignificant $0.2 gesture of generosity is accepted to be an eyebrow raiser. It speaks volumes about the gaming community, people on the internet and the current state of affairs in general. And not in a good way.

Not that I'm going to fall on depression over this or anything. Don't you think I'm overreacting, Just made me think about it, And still, pretty duchy attitude of him in general, left me scratching my head.
