some reasons
you also didn't write anything in your giveaway description, so people that like to say something of value, have nothing to comment about. đ¤ˇ
anyway, between entitled leeches and autojoiners, giveaway comments are pretty rare. if you really care about comments, whitelist people that you find interesting and focus there.

Lol, you crack me up.
I was just saying that you being silly with your "Thank You" probably had the unintentional reaction from others to automatically blacklist you. The comment about you not really doing giveaways anymore "oh look, that guy's only done three giveaways in the last year" was just the compounding excuse for why they would blacklist you (I used to blacklist people for petty reasons like this, and still do to some extent).

I couldn't care less about copy-and-paste comments such as "thanks" which is why I encourage people who enter my giveaways to comment something specific like a joke or whatever. When I do win something myself I either leave a comment on the creator's Steam profile or add them as a friend and thank them directly.

Who need 5000 non serious "thanks" ... is pretty ok if winner say thank you and will enjoy his game (or not, depend on him)
i did not won anything for over a year (yes year of entering and nothing while here are users who winning game every 3 days...) so cant say how its nowadays :D

I always say thanks except when I can't because some gifters blacklist you right after you win, so you can't post in the giveaway you just won. I also add anyone I win from to my whitelist.

I joined recently and at first I thanked everyone. The FAQ/guidelines mention it specifically and it just seemed polite. Then I saw a bunch of giveaway descriptions with threats of blacklisting if anyone but the winner said thank you so I mostly stopped. Sometimes I still leave a thank you if I have something more substantial to say (e.g. if the creator asks, I will usually check out their curator page/youtube video/etc. and I will comment on it). Otherwise, I only thank when I actually win.
Getting hundreds of notifications would probably be annoying, but most of my giveaways never received a thanks even from the winner which was also a bummer. Idk, I suppose the only solution is for giveaway creators to mention their thanks preference in the description.

I always thank for whitelist and most groups or for GA's of people who i've had a lot of interaction with at some point. Otherwise for public GA's I usually don't bother unless I win, I always thank for a win. We're lucky this platform even exists to give away some spare games on, might as well be nice while it lasts.
On the other hand some people go so far as to not ask for any thanks or comments and some ask for something completely different (eg favourite song) and I usually always follow what they ask for Unless it's "look at my youtube/twitch/website/etc" :)

Some folks definitely think of thank you messages as spam. I've actually seen users instructing people not to say thank you unless they've won. There are even some who will blacklist you if you do, though they're in the minority.
I personally really like getting comments. I've gotten good results from telling people that thank yous are welcome and giving them a quick question to answer/thing to do if they don't mind engaging more. (e.g. "What's the weirdest game you've played?," or asking for cute gifs on animal-themed giveaways.)

I usually don't say thanks unless I win and I generally never actually say the word thanks because that's boring meow
But I'd rather not have people thanking me for being able to enter. If they say other stuff like a funny joke or kawaii kat image, then it's a cool comment even if they don't win

As people have mentioned above, that a generic thanks for entering a giveaway is not wanted by the majority of users, you can say in your description if you would like them to cater to your own personal taste. People tend to ask for youtube video links or GIFS or memes nowadays rather than a generic thanks for their giveaways. Do what you want as its your giveaway. Just make it clear in your description and people will respond to it. Welcome back to SG and I hope you enjoy your time here!
Thanks for the gibs :)

i remember people blacklist other for say thanks :c

Plenty of others have said the same but after seeing so many giveaways with people saying "Don't say thanks" or "No thanks needed" or "Thanks = Blacklist!" I stopped doing it. Granted I still find a way to thank them if I win, even if they have one of those messages up. I also try to comply with requests in the description field like 'cat gifs are appreciated' or 'tell me your favorite movie' or similar.

Very long time have no reason 2 say. Last "win" was 6 months ago... For my giveaways - dont care.

I give thanks for winning a game or comment if there's something in description. I used to express my gratitude for every giveaway I entered but besides getting annoying after a while (then again I did it for years lol) people more and more started asking not to say it, complaining when I did and bunch blacklisted me sooo I stopped.

I always comment thanking the giveaway creator and telling everyone entering good luck unless the description specifically says not to
I don't want to do it if it annoys the giveaway creator but also it just feels kinda selfish not to at the same time you know?

Good for you. It's your choice. But author feel sad, that everyone doesn't choose this way.

I say thanks at the minimum when I win, and I try to say a little something about why the game interested me. If someone's posting the giveaway in a thread, I also say thanks, because it bumps the topic. Other than that, it's hit or miss; depends on my mood and anxiety level, I suppose.

So, you expect, that people will say "thank you" for nothing? Or you give games to get lot of "thank you"? Well, sorry, that we are not Yuriy from RA2 and can't see what you think and what you want.

I always thank if I win, and I expect the same from others. I mean I dont need 200+ "thank you" comments in my GAs, but I expect from the winner to say thx, even if its a small game... And whoever misses it lands on BL... So it wont happen again :D

That's most likely because of the level 0 giveaways. Try to aim higher next time

I've started here 8 years ago when on every giveaway was the usual "Thanks for Skyrim" comment... but haven't visited here for 6 years. Today I stumpled upon this site again and looked back in and it was a wave of nostalgia. So much so that I created a bunch of giveaways to celebrate it. But It really seems that the "community " isn't as engaging as it used to? For example right now there was a giveaway with 1000+ entries and only 1 comment saying thanks. Even on my giveaways, 300= entries and only 1 comment. When I look at my older giveaways I had at least 209 comments on a 1000+ giveaway or 125 comments on a 500 entry giveaway. I'm not saying this out of petty attention seeking, just something I found to be a little bit sad, but I guess that's how it always goes. Enjoy the giveaways I created :)
