Yet another reason to not get yourself hacked.

Edit: Despite word "permanently" it seems to be possible to restore (at least for limited time).

Will you use it?

Yes
No (Why?)

Ok, launching this without any kind of protection or some "hoops to jump" is a stupid idea.
I can imagine they will get a ton of "please give me my game back" complaints within days.

Protection of what? Getting hacked?

There's an undo feature. If you're concerned someone will wipe your games, you should use Steam Guard and common sense. That will more than enough to protect your games.

I just think that this is the kind of feature that should require some sort of email verification and a scrow time instead of trading. It's not like they need to do something new just apply the security measures they already have.
The process necessary to do this should be complicated enough so nobody can do it by accident, and trolls get discouraged.

I'd better hide the games in the dark corner of my library.
I like to keep some useless stuff =(

Heck, I even want Uriel's Chasm 2 just to be able to claim ownership of the worst pair of games ever created.

This is quite honestly the most ridiculous thing Valve's done to date.

Give people power, they abuse/misuse it ... it's human nature, because 99.9% of us aren't smart enough to use any power we're given responsibly.

There should most definitely be some kind of email verification before you can remove games from your library yourself. We're already given a "hide" feature, and I fail to see why anyone would need to remove games rather than hide them, except in very rare cases (in which case they can contact support). This is just going to lead to more support cases when hackings and mistakes occur -- hackers who delete your library out of spite, and people who accidentally delete the wrong game, or change their mind and want it back later to play with a friend or something.

Bad move, Valve, bad move.

I can think of at least one friend whose wife might do that, too. O.o

Like you said, though ... all this email/mobile protection for trades, but none for something quite a bit more costly like this. /facepalm

Yes. That particular subscription is a huge pain, so removing it is one of the few times I would use this.

I'm more interested in learning how to import games I already own into my steam account, not trying to remove ones I own from it.

i just find this option kinda stupid, so now if a hacker go succesfully, you lose your items + all the money that you spend on steam, without any confirmation.... and just because some people doesnt want to see games that they bought (seriously, you can make groups or organize your library to not to see them at all -.-) rito pls, i mean, gaben pls just rofl

I know what you mean and they really should add some kind of confirmation about removing games though I'm personally happy enough with Hide function.

On the other hand you never know when Valve will make another bad decision xD

If anything, why not do what iTunes has? Allow users to "remove" games (music, in the case if iTunes) from their library, but let them go into their user setting at anytime and restore what they removed. You still own the game you deleted, but it's just not a part of your library anymore, unless you want it to be later on someday.

I just found out the most frightening thing a hacker can do to you -- remove ALL games from your library. I am very scared. Using Steam Mobile Authenticator now.
