Ah, public giveaways have been ridiculous lately. An okay-I-guess-but-it's-a-Humble-Monthly game ends up with about 3000+ entries just by beating out the competition. Which is crazy... right? But oh well, even if it's been hard to give and get good games, there are still a lot of great people in this community, I think. And I don't think that'll ever go away.

Actually, I've been around just for a couple of weeks and already meet some leechers (I guess it's normal on lower levels?), but also nice people, good cat-pun-makers, and entered few interesting groups.
So, not to bad, imo.
As a MA student, I don't have a good income (usually work just on summer), but I try always to give back to the community when I can.

I am using Chrome. It does nothing while loading and every minute I get a notification that says "Page unresponsive. You can wait for it to become responsive or exit the page". I just have to click wait on this message after each minute and then it shows up once everything is loaded.

Happy cake day! And well, since you've already got so many games and only so many "good games" are coming out every year, there'll obviously be less good giveaways to enter. Many GA end up being bundle leftovers too which you'll already have as well if you're a bundle buyer :/ Everyone likes bargains. You can always enter some groups to try for a higher chance of your games being enjoyed than a rude +1.

It was during one of his events in the SG discussions where he asks questions and gives away games, but that time he was giving copies of Win 7. I needed a copy considering I was still running XP and Win 10 was just released, so I tried my luck and managed to get one :)

I've been here for less than a year so I have have no idea what the old SG was like, but I'm still very grateful this place exists. Shovelware aside it's made me aware of many games and game deals that would have gone right by me, as I'm somewhat new to this whole steam and pc gaming territory haha.

So, today is my 5th cakeday. I registered on this site on August 15th, 2013. 5 years ago. Time flies.
At first, i was totally overwhelmed and it did take some time to figure out how this site works. I had way less money then, didn't know about bundles and it took really long to climb the ranks. Leveling up felt like an achievment.
Oh boy, how did that all change!
Now I am earning a decent wage, am an expert deal and bundle hunter, my library exploded and collecting games has become a habit. A kinda meta-game in itself.
Leveling up means nothing anymore because there are hardly any games left for me to enter.
My experience with SG in those years? Well.. Meh. The site changed. Shovelware or however you want to call it floods the site. It's logical, because in this SG is a mirror of the current state of PC gaming in general and Steam in particular.
Quality of SG users has also declined. There are still a lot of jewels around but it is harder to find them in the puddle of mudd. There, I said it. And this saddens me. Anyone still around who still remembers the OddLama and his giving sprees?
Well, here is an obligatory giveaway which is very likely to end up in the hands of a leecher with many not activated games who only does region locked giveaways, can't say Thank you and will insult me when I don't send the key within minutes after his win and who will resell the key and claim I never send it.
Public giveaways nowadays. Only for masochistic people.

Unfortunately I had to delete the giveaway :( I bought the key from Voidu and the store page didn't mention a region lock because I bought the key with a european IP-address. But if you visit the page from outside of the EU, you get a warning regarding region lock. Which I could not see. Duh. So my key is EU only and I only found out about this after the original and the re-rolled winner both could not activate the key :(
