I just started trading on steam and I wanted to be the best and honest trader. But recently I refused a trade with this scammer after I saw his steam gift reps and his steamrep accounts, but lo and behold, he decided to -rep me on steam gifts! I hate how my perfect trading elo can be easily tainted by such a douche.

My reps! oh my reps
Im sad T.T

I cri evry night wondering what i did wrong... evry nite~

Edit: Thanks guys for the suggestion. Links removed.

Calling out is against the rules here.
It leads to a lot of unnecessary drama and witch-hunting, even when the person being called out is innocent.

Well, imagine if someone copied your steam profile, did some bad trades, and the person who got scammed came to post negatively about you ... you'd be blacklisted by half of SG before you could even plead your case :X

I got proof of innocence though. I always take screenshots when making steam trades.
Also, I welcome scrutiny, I've got nothing to hide. :P

I wont worry about importers yet lol. But if one does pop up, accusers can plead their case with facts, screenshots and steam ids. Eventually it will be sorted out and its good because then i know that there is an imposter. SteamReps is excellent for that.
Hmm, can i post screenshots of the chats we had to prove that he is indeed a scammer?
Also, a steamreps link shouldnt be harmful is it? He has 4 cases against him. I think its pretty obvious....

I'm not scrutinizing you ... I don't even trade .....
I'm just giving you information that will save you a suspension.

yee thxs m8.
But i really hate how the rules don't help that much with scammer awareness. Sure steamreps exists but google finds steamgifts better.
I suggest an added option in discussions for scammer alert (including proofs ofc).

Hey bro, you should delete the mentions to his profiles and nicknames.

That is calling out and its a rule that can be punished with suspension. :>

EDIT: That sucks. :/

Submit a support ticket and they will remove it. Might take a while, but they'll get to it eventually.

Yep. The rep system is for marking scammers and such, not for name calling and -repping out of spite.

Just explain what happened in detail and provide screenshots of the chatlogs if you have them.

How did you even end up interacting with that person? One look at their profile and I would have simply ignored them. Did you say anything to them at all?

You're not at fault and support can remove the neg as others have stated, but I just want to emphasize that when you see people like that, don't even engage them in any way. Just ignore their posts or attempts to contact you. Don't say "I don't want to trade with you" or whatever, say nothing at all.

Submit a support ticket with evidence. Do not call out users in public.
