When you're having these kinds of problems, I think it would be best to write/report on the GOG Connect thread in the GOG forum. I've seen problems fixed after people posted there and the last few posts (as of now) are about exactly the issue you're having and some users discuss about providing GOG support with a screenshot of your Steam game page listing any DLCs you own as proof. Give it a read and decide, whether it might be worth a try.

I posted a comment in that thread and a few minutes later I was able to add the games that it wouldn't find. So either support is reading it or it's just a matter of retrying several times.

Well either they are working on a fix or what is more likely they are trying to wait it out till the connect promotion is over. And afterwards they will probably decide if they will manually add it for those few people who sent a support ticket with proof or not.

They fixed my previous GOG-Connect issue 4 weeks after I sent my support ticket, explaining they had to work out the kinks in the system related to my issue before they could address it properly for me. I'd lost expectation of receiving the reply, and being a non-regular e-mail-checker, it was about 2 months before I replied back. They still sorted things out for me.
In other words, don't stress out over a delayed response, unless you think they may not have gotten the e-mail at all [ie, you didn't receive a confirmation e-mail]. I've yet to have an issue where GOG or Humble won't sort things out, if they're given enough time. :)

I haven't ever had any reason for complaints in regards to Humble or GOG support, so it always.. surprises me, when someone tries to compare them evenly to other bundle/distributor support systems. I mean, Humble has its lack of clarity in mentioning region-locking/combined tier on bundles at times, but they always offer refunds in such instances. GOG might take a bit of time to get to you, or to try and test out alternatives with you first, but I've yet to hear of them failing to come through in the end.
Both definitely tend to go beyond expectations, and are entirely incomparable to the customer-disdaining support services of companies like IndieGala, GMG, Ubisoft, or Valve.
That said-
Glad it worked out for ya. Congrats on your game version upgrade. ~.^
After basically switching from being a regular GOG user to a regular bundle/trading/SG (and thus Steam) user, it's been nice seeing my GOG library expand again post-GOG-Connect. Given GOG's 'set completion' approach, it's been hard to justify entirely rebuying games (that I already own on Steam) just for a game or DLC I'm missing. I'm hoping eventually I'll build up enough there to start being able to justify buying from them again- I definitely prefer GOG.

11 games for my GOG Acc. I really love the system. This should be works vice versa. :D

Only 3 for me this time, but still cool. Some are repeats again, like Broken Sword 1 and Witcher 1 + 2(?)

I hear that there are quite a few re-released games from years ago, Steam butchers the re-release, but GOG often preserves the original integrity of the game. Does this mean that I would be able to launch the GOG version, rather than the Steam version of my "activated" Steam game?
Comment has been collapsed.
It depends on the game. Unless you can point to a specific game, there's nothing anyone can tell you.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by launch. You get a fully-functional copy of the game on GOG (as if you bought it there) and as such, if it has more functionality than the Steam release of the same game, it's up to you to decide which one you want to play. If you mean, can you run the GOG version from inside Steam, the answer is yes, but you are the one who has to add it as a non-Steam game manually.

This answers my question: yes. I can run the GOG version instead of the Steam version
Unfortunately, this program frustrates the main purpose of virtual ownership: by requiring drive space (or CD burns) dedicated eternally to each game:
"The available games (on GOG Connect) will come and go"
So, unless I lurk and hunt for games that "come" and download the DRM-free version before it "go" disappears, this program will just aggravate me.

Hmm. That sounds much better. Still, I have aggravation issues for "dangling carrot" programs: "Sorry, you did not click on something that could have activated automatically. You missed your chance! Too bad and bye!"
It is related to the greed and corruption that eventually destroyed the music industry: "Oh, you bought a cassette of our music, and now you want a CD? Press the BUY IT NOW button !!" "Oh, you want to rip an mp3 off of your CD? You know that is illegal, right?"

It's really not like that. Chances are the some game's availability will be repeated, there were already repeats also this time(broken sword 1). They really don't have to do it, it's not like you're getting an upgrade of something you already have, you basically get the same game you already own on steam, just without to have the steam client run the same time. You missed a connect opportunity? Well shit happens, but you're still not forced to "buy it again" on gog, why would you? If you miss a freebe steam key, you're not forced buying the game on steam either . Just saying...
Personally I find this gog connect thing awesone, you cannot expect them let you sync your complete steam library every time you want. this would only make people but stuff on steam and use gog for their backups. But gog is a company too, and they need to make money with what they offer.

Certainly, this is an added plus, rather than nothing. Still, if GOG were beating Steam on price, it would not matter how extensive GOG Connect worked. Perhaps I should have simply used the word incomplete, rather than my exaggerations.

If it were about greed then they wouldn't have run such a promotion at all, period. They didn't have to throw you, me, or anyone else a bone at all. You simply can't run such a promotion for a game permanently or make it automatic because then it would hurt GOG sales and their business. And there is nothing wrong with a business trying to do business responsibly.

Apparently, if you do add them to your GOG library during the availability window, you can keep them on GOG permanently.

Yes, and by "permanently" it means as long as GOG or its successors keep their download servers running.
However, unlike Steam and many other services, you have the option to download and keep the game installers "forever" (as long as you or your descendants live and you can maintain or obtain compatible computer parts), without having to rely on some silly client continuing to work (e.g. the Steam client can and does break due to forced updates, locking you out of most of your Steam games on the affected computer).
Games tied to an external service are worth far less to me than those I have complete control over.

The promotional period itself is understandably limited though.
Yep. Without it, we wouldn't get anything.

Just opened the Discussion section to look for this thread to say Limbo was added :D

They just added LIMBO and INSIDE to their store today. I guess it's to celebrate that.

Seriously? They only added LIMBO today? It's been DRM-free on Humble Bundle for ages.
I thought it's been on GOG for a while too.
Anyway, thanks to the headsup. Now I have the ultimate choice for LIMBO:
Got it free on Steam, drm-free from Humblebundle, drm-free from GOG and I still have
an unused Steam key in case one of my friends needs it. :-))

Just to be sure, you did click the 'Refresh' icon in the top right, near where it shows your account linking? That acts as an account sync function, so if it's not registering your ownership, that's a good first step. If it still persists as an issue, just make sure to contact GOG support while the offer is still active, and they'll sort you out.

how can one get tropico 3 detected?
EDIT: I figured it out, thanks

This is huge news:
Introducing GOG Connect
GOG Connect
Important: You can connect only one Steam account with your GOG.com library. This process is permanent – choose wisely!
Important 2: If you own some of the games and Connect doesn't recognize them, press the Refresh button and wait a while (can be a few minutes, hours or even a day). The reason for this is that GOG is using the Steam API to scan your Steam library and the API has a limit on the number of calls it can make for a given period of time. If you're still having problems, refresh your GOG account (simply clicking the link is enough; this is different that the Refresh button on the GOG Connect page!).
Important 3: In case you are still getting the message "Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience." after waiting a while and trying the account refresh link above, then it would be a good idea to contact GOG support. Many users have reported that their problem was fixed quickly after that.
I really hope more games are made available, because this could raise GOG's popularity significantly!
Edit on 29-April-2020:
Thanks to BrianFarnet: The GOG Connect Steam group is a useful way to get notified about future batches in your activity feed.
