If your first paid month was November 2021 then that year ends with the last paid month October 2022. That's 12 months. A calendar year also starts with January and ends with December, not January.

You need to at least have paused to get a chance at being offered a coupon. There is no guarantee though and no way of influencing if you get a coupon and how much of a discount it will offer.

Overall I have regular monthly subscription. I had the classic but I cancelled in order for it to change to EUR. As I was paying more with the bank doing conversions.

I just skip instantly for the most part.
I used to get $4 off when trying to skip previously. Instantly applied to the price and got that every second month. Haven't seen this offer since cancelled - but I haven't bought full priced monthly for some time so that might be the reason.
And if you don't get the discount or any other offer until the end of the month you could resume the subscription anyway for the full price if you decide to. I don't think there should be any problem with skipping and un-skipping yourself.
