So, I do have some moments in my life where I think: Damn, I could use all that time gaming to do something productive instead.
I quit gaming from time to time but not permanently, I eventually roll back into the mud and start playing again. What I hate the most is the sleep I lose due to it. If I play single-player games, I do seem to control myself nicely though.
What are your thoughts and experiences on this?

Here is a small GA for you: http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/GKe1E/the-waste-land -GA CLOSED-

EDIT: Oh my god I forgot to put potato in there!

No, because I don't see it something that is a bad habit to get rid of. I game because I enjoy it and think it's a great time to spend my free time. But then again I'm not really addicted and don't spend my entire waking time playing.

The problem with this thread is...
IF YOU QUIT, then there wouldn't be any reason for you to be on this site. Lol :D

Well I quit but I'm still on this site because I make good money selling games. School's getting competitive, if I don't average 90s then I won't get into the University I want to get into.

I just transferred all my games to an external hard drive so that once I get accepted, I can start playing again :)

I don't see why someone would ever quit something they enjoy and makes them happy.
Gaming doesn't need to ever be "quit" just have limits like everything else.

Like would probably be bad to spend every single second doing it. lol (Even though that would be super fun. :P)

The answer isn't to "quit" like it's a drug or something. It's all about your attitude.

If you aren't willing to do anything productive, then the time you don't spend gaming will be spent watching anime, surfing crappy humor websites or just scratching your intimate parts. But we like to blame something else for our lack of discipline.

And if you have the will and discipline to do something productive with your life, you will have the self control to keep gaming as a hobby which takes a handful, but not 12-14, hours of your day.

Answer to the poll: Nope. My Steam profile reads: 52.2 hours in the last two weeks. That's ~3.7 hours a day, I think I'm still in a healthy spot.
