Did you have a game you used to play in your childhood?
Video games: Pong (yes, the original!), Atari Football, Duck Hunt and Track & Field (early days).Used to come home for a weekend from college and my brother and I would spent 48 hours straight playing Nobunga's Ambition on the Super Nintendo.
Arcade games: It was all Ms Pac-man, Galaga and Pole Position

Great topic!
My first video game experience was the Atari 2600. I remember playing Asteroids for HOURS on that thing.
Then I got a Commodore 64. That was when I got into sports games: Super Bowl Sunday, MicroLeague Baseball, 4th & Inches, Racing Destruction Set, GBA Basketball, Superstar Ice Hockey, Superstar Soccer.
I think Nintendo was next, and I remember loving ExciteBike, Baseball Stars and RBI Baseball.
Then came Sega Genesis (which I still have) and the NHL series, which are still probably my all time favorite video games. I still play NHL 96 on occasion. Genesis was also good for Tecmo Super Bowl, Joe Montana Quarterback, and of course...the original NBA Jam.
When I was 19 I got my first "PC" -- pretty sure it was a 386 -- and I remember playing the hell out of a golf game called World Class Leaderboard. The sound effects, crowd noise (AWWWWWWWWWWWWW when you missed a putt by a few inches) and announcer comments ("Looks like he...hit the tree, Jim") were awesome.
The rest is history -- I've been playing PC games ever since (with some occasional PS3 or Genesis thrown in for good measure).

I got MDK in my teen years and was disappointed. My childhood favorites were for Colecovision: Venture, Gorf, and Space Panic. The graphics on Space Panic were incredible, and almost rivaled The Cabbage Patch Game and Smurfs. Smurfs was brutal though, think of it as the Dark Souls of it's time. Absolutely BRUTAL. That is the only game before or since in which I have been killed by blades of grass. Yes. Blades of grass,
EDIT: OMG I FORGOT ABOUT SPACE FURY. That's SEGA's Space Fury!!! Wonder if that company ever moved on to bigger things. The music alone was worth the price of admission.
Nintendo and Sega both got their starts in the home video game market because of Colecovision. My PC gaming back then was limited to my Vic20 and the cassette tape drive that I had at the time. I had a racecar game. That's all I can remember about the Vic20. My Gateway 2000 486Dx2-50MHz was when I joined the master race, so by that time it would be Doom, Doom 2 and Tie Fighter, and X-Com and anything Sierrra, and Syndicate, and Warcraft, and Dune II, and Myst, and everything Lucas Arts, and 7th Guest, and Allied, Panzer and Fantasy General. and DARK LEGIONS!!!. But those were my teen years and I wanted to talk childhood as the thread suggests.

The Settlers II
Age of Empires
Mortal Kombat
These were my first ones I can remember. I was 5 years old at the time so my memories are very faded and I can barely remember others which I played less frequently. Glimpses of Doom, GTA 1, Duke Nukem.
Later, my favorites were Imperium Galactica II, GTA Vice City, Need for Speed series. We played NFS III a lot back then, they couldn't do better until Underground 2.

Yes. It may sound bad parenting today but apparently, video games don't make you violent on their own. I remember I was learning karate and I always showed some moves to my preschool friends, we did training sessions, pretended to be characters from MK, etc. But we were always careful not to hurt each other.

Yoshi's Island!
Also, I still have my old SNES and copy of Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World. They were hand-me-downs from my older sister, but I've used them far more than she ever did.

So I was talking to my brothers yesterday, and we got on the subject of technology. We started to talk about games, and we talked about a game I have not seen in years... MDK! for those of you who don't know this game, it is probably one of the best 3rd person shooters, and a great classic! I remember playing this game when I was 3 or 4, and now I am 18 reliving my childhood! The game is on steam, but you have to get some stupid texture pack in order for it to work. gog.com has it working right off the bat and its $6 instead of $10. Basically, I want to ask you guys, what was your childhood game(s) or games you played that introduced you to the video game realm? Mine were MDK, nanosaur, and E.V Nova.
