If it has been suggested dozens of times before (I suppose I really should have searched first)
Then it is probably a good idea to try, even on a trial basis.

because of suggested by more than dozens times by more than dozens ppl and still not implemented yet.
There must be something...
IMO, i don't want giveaway page spammed by 0cv free games, even though it doesn't cost any points/cv.
Unless it will be different section apart from giveaway, ppl need to hide them one by one.
Take a look at indiegala giveaway, ppl spam free games there.

well i have some doubts about it. it still counts towards your ratio.
not sure if theres even something out there like those mysterious ninja bots. theres alot of ppl just lurking around claiming those keys and i have no big problem with that. i mean thats why you post them in the thread, somebody has to get them.
if you dont want the keys go towards them just post them inside a special steamgroup of yours or send the key directly to the guy you want to give it to.
anyways just my perspective :°)

People who don't understand why certain games can't be given away would still not be able to understand that they don't get cv for those giveaways. Support will still have to deal with support tickets from those that'll ask: "WHY NO POINTS !?!?!?!!? WTF!! SCAM!!!!" - it's easier to just delete fake giveaways or disable a game from the giveaway-function.
Allowing free games to be given away just clutters up the site and in most cases the users on this site don't care about those free games anyway. a lot of people already don't care about "bundled trash"
If you are only worried that bots may take the keys, that you drop in the forums, then giving them away in public giveaways won't help you much either actually.

If a game was given away for free, and you can't create giveaways for it, why put unnecessary strain on the servers just because an RNG gives equal chances for winning?
I don't know how much strain can SteamGifts servers take, but I wouldn't program a useless feature like that. You can drop your key on the forums, create a puzzle for it, and hell even you can do an RNG GA. The possibilities are endless and they don't take as much resources as creating a separate GA.
Now that it's been answered, I wonder who will create the next "If you have won a game, why doesn't the system automatically remove your other entries?" thread.

Autojoining bots will still have the same chance as everyone else, instead of just grabbing them automatically.

You know how in the drop down box you have that massive list of games?
Well, certain games can't be given away because at some point they were given away for free.
What I suggest is to have a catch all "GAME" (obviously a fake one, titled 0 CV or Free Giveaway)
that allows us to still give away those games but earning 0 CV.
This will make it easier if you have a lot of keys and want to get rid of them without worrying
about bots getting them (or just want to make it fair), or if you want to hold a massive
giveaway event by simply storing up all those extra keys and using them at a later date.
I'd really like to hear other's opinions on this though.
