Why get an xbox 360. It's right that the xbox is cheaper then a ps3. but when it comes to online gaming, then you have to pay for xbox live gold. so in the long run. is it not better to buy a ps3?

The 360 seems to just have better online. And honestly, they runs sales on live gold all the time, so you can get it pretty cheap. I've got a 360 because my friends play on it and for the exclusives. It all comes down to preference though. Do your friends play the PS3 or the 360? Which exclusives would you rather get?

If you already use the pc as a gaming platform and you don't want to play their exclusives, than don't get the 360. Tha same is about PS3.

If you think the PS3 exclusives worth buying, you should take it, if not, the xbox is way cheaper and doesn't have some of the problems with the third parties. Like Bethesda that said they don't know how to program in PS3, so the DLC take longer to be launched on it.
If this doesn't help, just follow your heart and be happy =]

Get what your friends have. If most of your friends have an xbox; get an xbox and vice versa. Games are better with friends.

If you would like to play X360 exclusives, get it. If you'd prefer PS3 exclusives, choose PS3. Easy. It's good to have at least one of them for console exclusives. Plus Nintendo console, if their exclusives interest you too.

I'd never choose X360, since it has almost no exclusive games that'd interest me, but it's only my choice.

I got an xbox 360 star wars limited edition 320gb hard drive with first white kinect device. I wish I spent the money on a graphics card. The consoles are 5 years old now, the games don't even look close to pc quality despite claiming 1080p on the boxes. The lobby is filled with so much advertising it's hard to find what you went there for.

The kinect is also pretty laggy and requires a massive space to operate in.

The only benefit is all games you buy for it will work.

The xbox live service was shocking at times, trying to play black ops with your mates and people constantly disconnect and map changes etc. Can happen to any service but with xbox happened alot.

Don't buy any console until next generation, even then you would still be sensible to just use a PC and a game pad.

Uncharted/Heavy Rain / upcoming games such as the last of us etc etc... good luck choosing what you think best :)

You pay for a service that actually works, ask any gamer that plays on consoles, watch any review on youtube, any option you choose, they will tell you the same thing, xbox360 live service is way ahead of psn.

And also have far less flexibility. Seems to me one would be better off saving for a few more months and get a PC in the first place

I have a PC only, and to be completely honest, the only exclusive titles i'd like to get are from the PS3, i'm willing to skip the graphical part, since i've seen it already and it made me wanna vomit all the coffee i've ever had in my life (this goes for all consoles so far), the rigidness of the controls (who the fuck manages to play an FPS with an analog stick?), the "one use only" consoles have; i don't intend to watch movies over it, nor play online (less with 12yr olds), that's why i have my PC.

I have a PS3, PC (went from console gamer to PC) and i've used an XBOX360 (don't own it, no way am i paying 60$ a year for something i get free on PS3 and PC) quite a lot of times.

I have to say i like the XBOX 360 Design of its UI over the PS3.

But when it comes down to bang for my buck i much prefer the PS3, I get a blue Ray player and a gaming system in one, yeah it's more expensive but i prefer the PS3.

Gold is like $50 per year, so it depends on how long you intend to use it. Xbox also has a lot of streaming apps and stuff. Not sure what PSN offers, but honestly I would not get either at this point. Big Picture Mode and gamepads make a desktop fulfill the living room job

I bought a 360 a little over a year ago, and honestly, have not used it in about 9 months. Sure its pretty to look at, but it has not grabbed me like my Dreamcast did back in the day. I have no friends on xbox, and therefore no gold membership - seemed pointless.

I imagine the PS3 network is better being as its free to use. I think Xbox live is too restrictive for free users.

No point at this point in time. Later this year, or next year, new generation of consoles will come out. So either save the money for now, upgrade your PC, or spend it on games.

Actually there's a point.
Cheaper and improved console hardware (newer revision)* & games VS currently unreleased and expensive new gen hardware (possibly with flaws) & games.

I have an asterisk there because that's not valid for PS3. The older revisions were better...

Look at what you want. Games? Features? Friends?

We can't tell you what exclusive games you like.
We can't figure out which features you need.
We don't know which console your friends mostly play on.

This is your decision.

I enjoyed playing my 360s online for years, but recently they both died within a week or so. Both units had already red-ringed and had been repaired. So, 2 360s that died twice apiece. I am kinda pissed about that. Plus I can't play my new 360 edition Far Cry 3 now (won't run on any of my computers).

I would still recommend the 360 but I've had more trouble with that console than with any other and I've owned most systems since my first - a Magnovox Odyssey 2.

If you do it legit(i mean no flash or anything) then PS3 wins in every way: free online, more exclusive games, also better graphics.
If you want to flash it then xbox360. Also usually if a game is on X360 then its on PC or PS3 too. Except some games like Halo or GoW(honestly i dont have any interest in those).
I have a PC and had X360. I sold my x360 after the third RROD, but kept the wired gamepad, its best :D

I think you meant to say: worse online service, less exclusive games, worse graphics (the Xbox 360 GPU is more powerful).

Generally the multi-platform games are better on the 360 and the PC gets crappy ports. Except 2 games (Uncharted and God of War but I don't have any interest in those). I have a PC and a Xbox 360 but I owned both consoles. I sold my PS3 after the third YLOD, it was a dust collector. I haven't kept the DS3, the Xbox 360 is much better

Wait for new version of Xbox, could be called Xbox 720 and also Playstation 4, because others consoles are really old, and games run better in PC.

It depends on what you intend to do. X360 has a much more livelier (if not slightly worse (inb4 everyone screams 13year old kids etc etc)) community, and a slightly more competitive community. It has a handful of decent exclusives, but ever since I sold my own X360, the only thing i've missed game wise were not exclusives, it was all platform games (think stuff like guitar hero, rock band, etc.)

Exclusives wise, as a previous X360 owner, i'd really suggest the PS3 for the insane amount of great exclusives they've got. Also cheaper long-term, if you think about it.
