And who would determine whether a game is "trash"? Point value won't help (there are lots of decent cheap games and absolutely trashy pricey ones out there), would we need someone to sort games manually? If so, what criteria should they use? While real trash does exist (like asset flip hentai puzzle nonsense), most of the stuff people call "trash" is entirely subjective (sorry for stating the obvious). While we are at it, an option to hide whole categories of games based on tags would hugely help, but by now I'm pretty sure it'll never be implemented.

Thankfully this is a hypothetical situation and im not CG so I dont need to take on the burden of solving this conundrum. But im fed up of having to manually sort through trash on a regular basis. I have found the evil way of blacklisting the source of such games most helpful.

I'd add log ins and giveaways from GoG, Epic, etc...
Epic has like twenty different different log in options and GoG has Galaxy, so it's definitely a doable thing.
It probably goes without saying, but a Taco bar would also be appreciated.

That would be great, especially GoG. The ecosystem isn't as attractive (to me) as Steam, but DRM-free games trump everything.
Only problem would be the lack of bundles, so 80% of the giveaways would be for older Daedalic Entertainment titles, but if I recall correctly, gifting is a choice.

Remove levels and no/reduced value feature. This is what's causing the biggest burden for moderators. Free them of this and they can spend time on problems that are actually hurting the site and overall experience.
Levels because it's the main cause of abuse and the influx of low-effort 50$ asset flips, which diminish the whole idea of leveling up.
And no/reduced value feature because lots of games will never be given away just because people are discouraged from creating a giveaway when they see a ** next to the game.

As far as I understand it, a game loses "limited" when it sells a certain amount of copies. I guess simply activating a key doesn't count as "sold". I'm not sure how this would work for small indies that are actually made from scratch and not by using pre-made assets. A lot of it is Steam's problem; it's discouraging when you see a cheap game that generates 5000 free keys, and gets exposeure and (mainly positive) reviews from bot accounts, while on the other side you have indies made by one guy that can't get 5 reviews.

The game copies must be bought on steam. All key activations don't count for the remove of the "limited/learning" status.
Nearly each """new""" game, or with the first look spotable as trash game, that are shady have between 10 and 20 reviews. All that are outside of this range are, most likely, a real game.
And yes, honest devs/publishers have it much more difficult to get reviews, in general and positive ones special, as the ones that buy 10-20 reviews, from bot accounts for $30-40, to have a "mostly positive" rating.

i dont know how much money cg makes with this website but i would make more official giveaways and create events and such to get more traffic and engagement from the community. also i would have zero tolerance policy and ban anyone making shady and scummy things.

I don't think cg is out to make money with this site, rather it's a somewhat philanthropic hobby (with a little help from his amazing friends, the volunteer mods). The ads and Patreon stuff are just ways to cover the increased costs of running the site once it really took off.
Given the professionalism of the site (which I believe only cg develops, as his time allows). I'd say it's a pretty good bet he has a pretty decent day job in the same or a related line of work. (This is mere speculation on my part, there are probably people here who know cg the person or follow his comments more closely, but it's up to cg how much he wants to disclose about his own life.)
I also get the impression he's pretty laid back and wants to assert as little control over the site as possible (without it developing into a complete cesspool).
Regardless, this site is an admirable example of community building! Thanks, cg!

1) i would be sure that if\when i stop exist there is someone that i could trusth that will continue this community in the good way him has do and that him will have all things needed for manage it (legal documents etc.)
this is very important and not need be understimate,it's happen to some my friends to have big important community then when they sadly passed away the community get offline\destroyed,this is a total shame,in their community they have hundreds of tutorials\guide for repair electronic things,or that explain how to do softwares etc. years and years of written tutorials and all this disappear from one day to another,

Again - what good would be to have our ticket queue flooded every few weeks with thousands of automatic false-positive reports. Currently there is no info added to ticket which game is reported. We would need to go through reports, open each single one, check why the report was made and manually close. But if you change your point to "overhaul mod section, so it's more modern" then I will give you thumbs up any time.

Because more and more creators harass winners into deletions, tell them it's the only option, or (my favorite recently) - tell winner SUPPORT TOLD THEM IT MUST BE DELETED. No we didn't. When we open GA and see creators are clearly cornering the winner into agreement - we can intervene and explain to the winner their options. The idea with automatic marks for "unactivated win" that the mods can/should look into would be a good thing too.
And yes, the mods should have a better ticket system and better tools. But if cg don't invest time for such stuff the mods should go on the barricades and DEMAND it or let cg do the work alone.
The idea with rerolls where a mod could deactivate a region when the key got reported as blocked is good.
Yes it would be more work as a deletion IF more as one reroll is needed but only than. If not it would be the same amount of work but more delivered GAs. And that the support needs to reroll dozens of times till "a fitting winner" gets picked is a fictive/unrealistic horror scenario. In the most cases 1-2 reroll will be enough because the most users are from a few countries (usa, russia, brazil, turkey etc.) and not from 200.

I think, like most of life, the answer is "it depends..."
For example, I gave away a game which I did not realize had a region restriction, and I trusted the person who won and told me it was restricted. I felt comfortable making a new GA for the same key...
But it were a random person who just claimed "it didn't work"... yeah, I would not trust that key anymore.

I did ask for a reroll and was denied! Because of the region thing... So instead we deleted the GA and I created a new one with proper region restrictions, but the same key that was viewed by the first winner.
But I have had a few dozens/hundreds like you say, where it was a banned game, DLC, "steam is learning", and so on, where the winner said basically "oops, reroll". I agree once the eyeball icon shows, the key might be considered unclean... If I did a reroll and the next person said it was already used, I would sincerely apologize and maybe kill? blacklist the first person ;)

"Sorry, have it, pls re-roll" started to be issue after Steam added "Steam is learning about it". Then allowing all abusive devs on their platform and pressing nuke button to delist them from Store when it brought in too much stench. Like stlpaul said above.
You do get notification about revoked game, but about banned game? I'm not sure. But even if you get notification - how many people will automatically connect that on next SG sync this game will be removed from database, it will be visible on main page "and winner selected to not show owned games, so why they were still visible as able to enter??".
It would be ideal if everyone would keep track of it, but (sadly) a lot here did not walk past main GA page. No discussions, GA comments or FAQ read. I thought before that solution could be SG trying to automatically redeem keys, without user "seeing" the key (if that's even possible), but then you'd be log in to your grandma account in browser by mistake, and you break "win must be activated on steam account associated with SG account used for registration" rule.
It's not ideal to re-roll those, but we also don't have a way to exclude those from the view due to how SteamAPI reports games now. In the end, if key do turn out to be faulty after re-roll - we can revert re-roll and suspend "original" winner for using key and asking for re-roll.
There was also SALMA bug few years ago, that was showing "key was not activated, try again later". And then when you tried again "you already have game", which could prompt re-roll request. I would revert such re-roll and ask old winner to mark GA as Received as being honest mistake

Suspend the thousands of autojoiners and the reroll requests with "ops i own the game, reroll" will be much fewer.
CG should do his job server sided, he have the tools (and used them 3-4 years ago for 1[?] week).
And if he don't do it the mods should say him that they will not work anymore till he do it.
All other about the high amount of work is blablablabla .... only a few mods really work, the rest are completely demotivated (because of cgs acting [he don't care that mods and users spend their lifetime to handle stuff that would be tiny things for cg]) or are/were from the begin only decorative plants.
And the SALMA bug is still/again active since steam changed the UI. At least for me it happens sometimes (i think because "timeouts" with a very slow internet connection). But the licences and key activation page on steam show the correct infos.

They are entirely unrelated stats. You can be a level 10 user and be functionally weightless if you haven't done a single giveaway in years. Many people are just riding their past activity, sometimes from years ago. (I'm not entirely an exception either, havwn't been too active giveaway-wise in the past year or two?)

Oh, hi! You caught my attention again. Lets talk about your giveaways if you insist. Might be another example of how your words and deeds are going in two different directions.
I took a closer look on your level and your giveaways. It turned out, that you is one of those regional pricing abusers. You were creating giveaways for one of the cheapest regions from 2018 to 2021 (while being in more wealthy region by yourself).
Went through the most "beefy" giveaways you made for RU region:
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition; one copy, paid around 6 euro to get 50 CV
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition; again, but this time 4 copies for 3.5 eur each (14 eur total) to get another 200 CV.
- Tales of Zestiria; you paid 3.4 euro to get 50 CV (and you made it twice, 6.8 eur to get 100 CV)
- DRAGON BALL FighterZ - Ultimate Edition; you paid 6.6 eur for 110 CV. And you done it twice to get yourself 220 CV for 13.2 eur.
570 CV from regional pricing abuse. Around 37% from your total CV. Probably there are more regional pricing abuse took place since 89.5% of your sent CV is Region Restricted (while 89% of CV you won is Region Free by the way). But I'm not interested to do deeper research - it already explains how you managed to get to 7.50 with that low amount of giveaways and why there can be no special reasons for pride here. cy
PS: By the way, can you elaborate a little bit more your sick logic behind the idea of "my 7.50 CV lvl over 5 years is better than yours 7.37 CV lvl over a year - you should feel bad about it"? I think there could be something else interesting and funny that will entertain me.

Drastically reduce the maximum amount of points one can have and the rate at which points are earned, so that people don't have the chance to enter everything they can find, and instead focus on the games they want most. This way your chances of winning something you really want are way higher.

CV for public giveaways only, which would include publicly posted invite only. There's no reason to award CV and levels for group, whitelist or phony regional giveaways. I have no objection to these types of GAs - I do plenty of them myself - but I don't see them as a contribution to the community at large, so why should they earn us entry into higher level public GAs?
Some kind of modest reward system for playing wins might be interesting. Of course I have no idea how to go about this, but I think it could be fun and possibly make both winners and gifters happy.

but reading your comment made me thinking the fact that, for these GA's, you have to have 5 entries to get CV. wouldn't be simpler -and maybe fairer- raising it to 10-25-...50 entries?

A similarly drastic increase of minimum entries to worth CV would be pretty reasonable imo. There are big groups like PA that can generate hundreds of entries, it wouldn't affect it really. But it could deal with the game-trading ratio groups and the CV inflation it causes, while being as far from public and free as possible

There is, for example, an excellent group that doesn't allow bundled game giveaways and has minimum game giveaway requirements and minimum wishlist requirements attached to that, but also fairly small membership numbers. Groups like that would be impacted by such a rule change potentially.

It's trading in the group, not with a person. When technically the rules are "if you win a giveaway, you have to create a giveaway" then it's like a barter-trade, item for item. You just don'g know upfront you'll get it.
Again, it's not an issue, but especially if the group has a no bundled rule, a very closed and small group can generate a LOT of CV for its members, while not even being connected to the public.

It would fall into the category of trading due to the win/loss ratios factoring into the group requirements I think. If you win, you're also required to match that with a g/a. It's a good system, but as Adam says, it's difficult to justify SG rewarding that when it really only benefits a select few.
Thst said, the same logic also applies to higher level giveaways. My giveaways had the least participation when I locked them to level 8 or 9 (of course), for example (back when I was leveled up lol). In a very real way, the system encourages exclusionary giveaways, so that would be something the site would need to reflect on when considering adopting a stricter standard to gain points and levels.

I'm not sure the same logic applies to very high level public giveaways. Considering the enormous amount of time and money that would be spent to get to public only level 10 and the rarity of high level GAs, that would be a miniscule return on investment. In other words, the system might actually work fairly.

While I agree that there would be no real benefit to leveling without leveling benefits, the fact still stands that only a limited amount of users benefit from gated giveaways, which is not really any different than group or whitelist giveaways, in practice. Philosophically it is different, but as far as the actual giveaways are concerned, a gated giveaway is a gated giveaway regardless of the reason.
As Maya mentioned earlier, leveling is often a facet of income and budget rather than desire or lack thereof.
Anyway, targeting one example of gating while ignoring the others seems like a thing the site would want to avoid. Perhaps a better idea is to find/offer other benefits to offer higher level participants. Or simply eliminating the group and whitelist giveaways completely and continue as always with level gating.
This is all an exercise in musing however since none of the proposed changes here are in fact policy. But, an interesting conversation regardless.

As TacoDave said. Mandatory giveaways, keeping a created/won ratio - basically leave a giveaway, take a giveaway. These groups usually incentivise winning whatever too, because if you enter, you have to create giveaways, and if you're picky about what you enter, you'll end up at a loss. I have no problem with such groups existing, been a member of two more leisure ones, but there should be no CV awarded for a 30-member group having less than a dozen entries for most giveaways.

No doubt that would help a bit, but there are lots of private groups with 100+ members and many of them are not exclusive and allow multi group plus whitelist giveaways - it's an easy way to raise entries without sharing with the community. So when you raise that limit, most groups will find a way around it.
You're clearly a very generous gifter and you don't use group mechanics in the same way that most people do, but you are the exception, not the rule. Most people take advantage of the "trading" aspect of group GAs, you don't.
I very much doubt you would be level 2, considering you have made 3,500 public giveaways. You probably would not even lose a level :)

Allow modifications to existing giveaways.
for example:
add additional copies to a giveaway. - Sometimes you have a gambling addiction and buy to many mystery bundles or more people were entering a GA than you expected and you want to add more copies to a GA you created to give higher odds of winning to those that entered without needing to spend more points. - only allow adding, not removing.
add additional groups to a giveaway that has at least 24 hours remaining, if it has less than 24 adjust end time to be 24 hours remaining. Sometimes you decide you want to share a GA with another group other than the one you initially created it for and don't want to delete it).

Add ability to create giveaways depending on two factors:
- allowing only users that have the game on their wishlist
- the total amount of games they have on their wishlist (would help to prevent abuse of people having thousands of games on their wishlist)
for example: creating a giveaway for game X, where only users who have it on their wishlist can join and these users must have less than 250 (number should be customizable maybe only 100/250/500 for less complexity) games on their wishlist
