I haven't played a good game in awhile, and the summer break is ending soon. That being said, I'd like to play a good game before going back to college and work. So please, if you could tell me of a game with a really good storyline, please do. ( For the record, I really enjoyed the Mass Effect Trilogy, even with the original ending; Mention: The game has to be available on PC )

How can someone like both Spec Ops The Line and CoD? Isn't the whole point of SO The Line's story to show how rediculous millitary shooters are?

I didn't get your point. OP asked for good storylines and SO and Modern Warfare are, imo, great storylines.

The Witcher 1 and 2 for sure. Games with Geralt and Shepard were two most enjoyable experiences on PC ever if it's about storyline and world of the game.

If you do not mind playing older games, here are some FANTASTIC examples of storylines (or storytelling, which is not quite the same) in PC gaming:

  1. System Shock (VERY OLD!!!)
  2. The Last Express
  3. Planescape: Torment (1999 RPG)
  4. Psychonauts
  5. Grim Fandango
  6. Soul Reaver 2 (well, the whole "Legacy of Kain" series, really)
  7. Bioshock
  8. The Longest Journey
  9. Knights of the Old Republic
  10. Day of the Tentacle (VERY OLD!!!)

The Walking Dead, Planescape Torment, Monkey Island series, Grim Fandango, The Last Express, To the Moon, Mother 3, Final Fantasy 6 (aka 3), Thomas Was Alone, Bioshock series (2 has the best story), System Shock 1 and 2, Deus Ex, Portal 1 and 2, Max Payne (especially 3.)

Well, that depends on what kind of story telling you ar einterested in and what kind of stories.

Half-Life saga has a good story but you should play at least HL1, 2, 2 EP1 and 2 EP 2 and we are still waiting for EP 3.

Alan Wake has a cool way to tell the story because of this writter theme.

Bioshock 1 the main story is quite generic but the world is quite enjoyable, the characters are interesting and you wnat to know more.

Deus Ex/Deus Ex Human Revolution have nice stories and great gameplay.

The Longest journey is a great point and click with a great story and world.

The Witcher series are cool too, only played the first one for the moment though.

Metal Gear Solid (for Playstation 1 or the PC version) has one of my favorite stories, great and interesting charaters.

I know i am missing some games but i can´t remember them :/

My all time favourite is Soul Reaver 2 and the rest of the series.
Silent hill 2 and 3 had awesome storylines.
System shock 2, bioshock series, alter ego, pretty much all the Telltale games, eschalon is pretty good, syberia is good but some main character desicions looks dumb.
All i can remember atm.

This one.
Didnt expect anything special when i won it here (thanks Jatan11t), but i was surprised how well its done. Atmosphere is great, kinda noir or how will you call it and the story is very interesting and has it's twists.

Dead Space trilogy (though, I haven't played 3 yet). The story is pretty fetching with a mix between Aliens+The Thing. Borderlands series, the game can be quick if you rush it, but you can easily sink hours into it doing the side quests that reveal more about what's happening and how it's effecting everyone. Dishonored, quite frankly I luved this game, aside from the shooting mechanics which I feel hindered the game, the melee-FPS combat was fresh and gruesome, and the story and questing were unique amongst the avid shooters, especially since there were many ways to approach every quest.
