I won that. I didn't look at bundle, i thought from name, that it's game+dlcs. I think SG should check that.

Yes it was confusing but 5 min of research could have stopped that. /shrug, it's up to the mods now.

with just 2 clicks from the giveaway page, you'll land at the store page and see that it's all dlc

usually generous ppl who make giveaways post info for dlcs in description, especially when SG let enter giveaway without owning base game

it's not the giver's burden to provide you with the info.
they can't spoon feed you everything.

90% of the DLC doesn't allow you to. I blame CG for not correcting it and the user for not verifying before entering.

Pretty sure this is a reason for suspension so make a support ticket for it.

I didnt think that was possible? It says Base Game is required and won't let people enter it doesn't it? It's something SG checks before entry.

Anyways if someone does win it, prehaps they are planning to purchase/trade/win the base game as well?

Steam doesn't properly classify all DLC and thus SG isn't always able to read whether something actually requires a base game. Due to that inconsistency, that's why I'd have to say I'm against auto-suspending.

As for your second statement, that is against the SG Rules.

Fair enough, I was just wondering why they would bother enter it, if they didn't want the original game. Maybe a mistake for some?

Possibly. I know I entered a Retribution Warpack giveaway without realizing it was DLC, but when I figured it out, I removed my entry. Some of them simply aren't easy to tell and I thought it was simply Retribution with DLC. Can't speak for everyone though...I'm sure there are plenty of people that enter them purposefully and don't give a shit about the rules.

I won both of them. No description. It didn't say missing base game so i thought its base game. Why should i get suspension for that? Not gonna be douche and say you should but that on description or wtf why reroll. I know that was my fault but still...

I agree that you shouldn't be suspended for it, but asking for a reroll is not only valid, but required. The SG Rules state that you MUST own the base game. Even if you weren't aware that this was DLC that required a base game doesn't make the rule any less enforceable.

Agreed with this. No suspension, but where do you get the idea that you're entitled to extra content that you cannot even use? There are players who DO have the game and that WILL play it the content. Not rerolling would be wasting the codes...

Maybe it's my bad english but i didn't say i should get the DLC. I know SG rules say you have to own base game.

DLC giveaways are easy to identify. They have a purple stripe in the upper left corner that says DLC.

As has been stated several times before, not all DLC is actually labeled properly and that includes the purple ribbon. In fact, the DLC that prompted the OP's post does not have the purple ribbon.

Doesn't one of the Serious Sam games show a purple ribbon even though it is supposed to be a standalone game?

Ah, alright. The "wtf why reroll" part made me think you disagreed with the giver's decision to reroll it

New idea: I don't know how the rerolling works, but if there are multiple categories for it, why not create a new "Winner does not have the base game for this DLC" one? Rather than support checking these requests before pushing them through, let the reroll be instant. Still put it in the queue and have support check the legitimacy of the claim - if the category is abused (used on an actual game, winner DOES have base game but you don't like his/her avatar, whatever the reason may be...) suspend the person who abused it instead.

Saves everybody a bit of time without punishing the ignorant too often

The issue is that the ignorant are the problem and not punishing it makes the problem grow. That thing cg is working on to check libraries for received games will help a lot.

Problem is that there is a balance to be struck between punishing and forgiving. There is a reason the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world.

I don't see how checking for activated games is relevant to rerolling DLC. Both are problems, but separate issues. Both have active threads atm.

It already will get you suspended for 5 days, so everyone that thinks it should be implemented rejoice. Not only has support answered your pleas, they've managed to do so before you wanted them to. If you had any idea how much bandwidth time travel uses...

They should implement this for all games: some of the DLC giveaways don't allow you to wnter if you don't have the base game but some of the rest don't have this so the system is uncomplete.

the problem is on steams end if you can enter without owning the base game or not. Would be a lot of manual work with all the DLCs out there to set it straight for CG
