SteamGifts Tools is a tool in a form of a website that lets you do some interesting checks to steamgifts mechanics:

Link www.sgtools.info

Themes

  1. SG Dark Grey Userstyle by SquishedPotatoe thread
  2. Old (deprecated) ones:

User Scripts

  1. SGTools Helper: Help you create giveaways with SGTools typical options and marks protected giveaways on steamgifts giveaway page
  2. Links to user profile: Awesome userscript made by SilentGuy that adds links to the common sgtools checks on a user profile. See his thread
  3. Links on giveaway's winners page. The script will add a sgtools.info link next to each winner's 'Request New Winner' link in your giveaway's winners list, so that you can easily check them for non-activated and multiple wins
  4. ESGST: An all-in-one script to rock your Steamgifts experience. It integrates to and gives quick access to several SGT functionality from inside steamgifts website.

Tools

  1. Check real cv value (as we had in steamgifts v1) and it's level translation with a detailed log of every game contribution and how they add up to the final number.
  2. Check real cv for your won gifts, so you can compare with your send gifts.
  3. Check if a user has activated all his gifts, useful if you want to check a little bit the winners of your giveaways.
  4. Multiple Wins. Checks if a user has won and marked as received the same game more than once
  5. Last Bunled Games. List new additions to the bundle list of the last 7 days with a minimum of 50 entries, showing the game (with a link to steam), the date since the game is considered bundled and the date when it was added to the bundle list.
  6. Create, manage and enter giveaways with more advanced and complex filters than the ones in steamgifts.
  7. Deals and their bundle status

Limitations

  1. Since CG don’t give us an open API, all requests have to parse your full profile to check your sent games, this will take some seconds (more if you gave away tons of games!), so please be patient.
  2. The site uses a cached bundle list, so if you find a recent bundle game that gives you a full value instead of the 15% one, just wait until the next cached bundle list is ready. Cached Bundle list auto-updates itself every 6 hours starting at 3:00AM GMT (3am, 9am, 3pm, 9pm).
  3. The tool will search steam API to get the real cost for packages that has its point value truncated to 50 in steamgifts, but if the package is no longer available the tool will use the points as CV (50$).
  4. It may sound obvious, but the tool can't check not activated gifts if the profile is private.

It was 10h before - Maybe there is a bug with the sgtool at the moment. Can a won game (i dont have got the key yet) also make such troubles? Without the kay i cant activate it on my account - but i think sgtool should check this. But i had the same troubles before i won my last game.

SGTools should not know about any giveaway that you have not marked as either received or not-received. Your profile does not show Won giveaways until they are marked.

I suggest waiting and trying again later.

I've encountered a giveaway in the dashboard under finished which is still running. Upon closer examination the end date is shown as just one minute after creation time, while in reality it's 3 days+
Don't want to disclose the link here, as it was hidden in a thread. Could point it out via Steam itself or after it's over late tonight.

Might be user specific as I found another user (both are from Germany) were the end dates are around 3 days off. (Other GA from other users from Germany show the correct dates.)

My wild guess is that the giveaway was added to sgtools before it begin so instead of having "end time" it had something like "begins in 1 minute".

Hi knsys. Thank you for making the very useful SteamGifts Tools.

Today I seem to be having a perplexing false positive problem which might be a bug. If I press the "Check Requirements" button on a giveaway I get the message

Your account is flagged as having some unactivated Wins or your profile is Private.

My account is usually private, but is public at the moment. If I go to check my own profile for nonactivated games it has no problem reading my profile and reports that I have no wins unactivated.

It does have win listed as Games that are well-known false positives and have been whitelisted in the tool, which is, in fact, activated
20 wins listed under DLCs Wins that appears as not activated (probably activated) which are all activated
and 1 win listed under Games no longer in steamAPI to check (Warlock - Master of the Arcane: Master of Artifacts), also activated

Could the Games no longer in steamAPI to check be what is suddenly causing my account to be treated as having an unactivated win? If it's not too much trouble would you be able to look into this when you get the chance?

The problem is that when you renewed the cache, your profile was set to private or friends only. This cache only affects giveaway section, that's why you see normal results in "not activated" section.

There has been a thread about this some days ago, you may want to read a little but of it.

8 years ago

I wonder what caused the cache to be renewed. Maybe somebody else tried to check my profile. Odd that it affects the /giveaways/[...]/check service but not the /nonactivated/[...] page. Oh well - any ETA on when the cache expires? (Sorry if this has already been answered, but I can't find any thread related to this)

I'll wait a few more hours and try again. Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

Only you are able to check a giveaway and therefore renew the cache.

It could be based on the RAW SG values displayed next to the number of gifts

One thing that was catching me out was that I would try to enter a giveaway while my profile was non-public and it would fail due to the recent anti-cheat change to sgtools (which itself is fine, as it was unable to determine that I could meet the requirements), then I'd go and open my profile and try again, only for the cacheing to trip me up. Later (presumably after the cache had expired, though I didn't know how long that had to be), I'd try again, once more neglecting to open my profile briefly beforehand, and so on.

What I didn't realise until recently was that I didn't need to keep my profile public until the cache expired, so long as I remembered to re-open it before I tried again after the expiry. That, I can deal with quite happily now that I'm aware of it (even if there was a flash giveaway shorter than the duration of the cache expiry, that's just tough on me for forgetting).

That may all have been obvious to those familiar with how sgtools worked, but if someone had actually pointed that out to me while I was asking about it, I would have posted a simple informational tip to help others avoid falling for the same trap, rather than my rather more bleak WARNING thread...

I plan to go back and edit my original posting to make this clear, for those who happen upon that thread in the future.

Would it be possible to add a little bit of informative text for giveaway entrants to make sure that their profile is public (for a short duration only) before pressing "Check requirements" (or whatever the button actually says, I can't remember)? That may help others avoid this issue.

8 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh I thought that the fact that the cache was renewing when a user tried to enter a giveaway was obvious, maybe I have to word it somewhere just to be clear.

I hope that soon enough support will solve a ticket I have opened to let you sync whenever you want (with a decent cheat detection mechanism).

And indeed, you can wait for your cache to expire and renew the cache with a public profile. Once it's renewed you can go back to private.

Hi!

there is a problem with http://store.steampowered.com/sub/80341/ giveaways

  • i won the older package, from era before SG4 game of the century edition and before the "gat out of hell" was added to this franshise pack. I activated it http://screenshot.sh/m7sIn2et7kFrp but do not have "gat out of hell" :/

I know , that there were possible choice for giveaway maker of 2 packages (one for 50 points (without gat out of hell and second for 55 points (with gat out) ) but now its only this one which is in steamstore.

I have a question about "Minimum Ratio for number of Sent/Won Giveaways". So far I wasn't using this filter, because I was under the impression that it blocks out Level 0 users, which isn't something I want to do. Just to make sure - if I set the value 0.1 it means that users can enter if they won up to 10 times more than they gave? Now what if they didn't give anything (yet)? I still want them to be able to enter the giveaway.

If the above is true, how about defining the same limit as for Level 1 users (in this case, it would mean Level 0 users can enter if they won up to 10 games). I don't see a drawback here, because giveaway creators can always block Level 0 users by defining the giveaway as Level 1+.

8 years ago*
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

"Minimum Ratio for number of Sent/Won Giveaways" works as follow:

ratio = num_Sent / num_Won

From the simple formula we can deduce that if num_sent is 0, ratio will be 0 (because 0 / something is always 0 if "something" is not a 0).

8 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So it's indeed as I expected.

Any thoughts about the enhancement I suggest? I think that other than the implementation effort, it would only be beneficial, allowing ratio to be used without completely blocking out Level 0 users (which I believe include many kids who simply cannot give (yet) even if they want to).

8 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The problem of ratios are that they are unfair by nature. In my opinion ratios are rules that should be used with caution since they tend to produce all kind of inconsistent situations.

There should be a better approximation to that problem without really using ratios.

8 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Other than using ratios, how would you suggest to give everyone access (including Level 0 users) except those who won far more than they gave?

The only thing that comes to mind is to create two SGTools filters - one for Level 0 users only without ratio restriction, and another for Level 1+ with it. The obvious disadvantage (other than the extra effort required to create 2 filters) is that the Invalid Entries report of each becomes cluttered with all the entries from the other filter.

Here's my attempt at achieving this with two SGTools filters. Let's see how it turns out :-)

It doesn't seem to have a simple solution without using a custom rule.

Your approach seems to be the closest thing to what you are trying to archive.

You are fast :D

With this you'll have all the power you need :)
Now it'll only be a matter of adding variables with data so you all can do the requirements as complex as you want.

Btw looking at your custom rule, you can use the "old rules" too in addition to the new ones, so the marked as received can be done with old style and the other more complex and fine grained rules with the new one.

Many people set rules for unactivated wins for verifying and entering GAs and this system is flawed. SG has a flaw in detecting accurately DLCs in different packs. In one cd key or gift pack full of base games and DLCs at times SG thinks the account 'probably' has activated DLCs and this irrational doubt prevents really activated accounts from taking part in GAs.

Probably

New Infraction system.
Infractions replaces bans on "entered sgtools protected giveaway without a valid entry" cases. This new system will use a strikes based calculations to ensure that a user is really aware of those infractions before being permanently denied of getting thought sgtools giveaways.

Strike system details:
1. First Strike -> 1 month
2. Second Strike -> 3 months
3. Third Strike -> 6 months
4. Forth+ Strike -> 3000 years (aka perma infraction).

Users currently serving an infraction will see a red bar on the top of every giveaway-related page informing of the time it'll expire. They can do every operation on sgtools apart from qualifying for giveaways and getting the url.

There is still permabans in place (currently only 5), for the following cases:
* Users that misuse giveaway feedback to bypass giveaway rules
* Giveaway url leakers
* Trying to exploit in any other way the system

I tried again, but to no avail. I also tried to enter on an incognito window, in case it was something cached on my end after first erroneous check, but it still didn't help. Maybe the result is cached server-side, don't know. If the algorithm is the same in this check and in the separate rules breaking checks, then I should be able to enter. However, if there are differences, maybe the fact that I have two wins of the same game (albeit one not activated as requested by the support) is the reason this is happening.

8 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The giveaway part uses a server side cache, so if you checked back when you had multiwins, you won't pass the multi activation rule until the cache refreshes.

8 years ago
Permalink

I had those for like 2 months now, because the creator did not reroll me. I think the actual problem was a connection error the first time I checked. How long do you hold server-side cache? One day?

8 years ago

Your connection shouldn't have had an effect. It is knsys' server that needs to connect to Valve (though your post was just a couple minutes after Valve's regular Tuesday afternoon maintenance shutdown.) If that was the case, the error message that popped up should have mentioned that your profile was unavailable or private.
