I do not want to point the finger at RazhGon47, but I will because rawr.
Site sometimes almost flooded with Bundles and promotional junk like "Hail to the icons".

Maybe block next Humble Bundle permanently? But people have already done the damage and bought the previous ones, why not let them gift them to people who want them for various reasons(don't have a credit card, didn't know about the bundle at the time etc)? It's better than them selling them.

We haven't had much of a problem with the Frozen Synapse Bundle with the new rules, especially after waiting until they were no longer on sale. These giveaways are moderated pretty well for the most part. I contact just about every member that submits a Humble Bundle to make sure they are submitting unused gift URLs. Giveaways that are keys will always be removed.
Most of the people on the top contributors page have been submitting Humble Bundles as private giveaways, which are treated differently than public giveaways. Private giveaways also do not generate points.

Are you able to define/clarify "treated differently"? Because the way you wrote it seems like it's conveying "not really governed by the rules at large because... well, they're private".

I'm sure a lot of people won't agree with me when I say this, but I think that buying the bundles for 1 cent CAN be beneficial to the developers. Think about it, it's kind of like free advertisement for the developers. They didn't necessarily make a profit, but now someone who may not have played their game for whatever reasons is, and if they like it, they'll tell their friends about it, who'll probably pay full price for the game. At the very least, when someone pays 1 cent for a bundle, it's practically free advertising for the developer, who most likely can't afford to put up commercials or ads about their game.

They'll probably try and find an exploited key to activate for themselves. There's nothing beneficial about the mass stockpiling of 1 cent keys.

Hey, what if people could still give them away but they also wouldn't show up in the person's profile? Like you make a giveaway for it, but it won't add to the value of giveaways nor would it add to "marked as received", and it also wouldn't show up as a giveaway in their list? It removes any self-benefit that someone might glean, but still allows them to gift it out of pure generosity and selflessness.

Okay. I'm going to let you understand something.
Humble Bundle is 'Pay what you want.'. Not 'Pay what you want, but pay enough to make others nod in approval.'.
This has been suggested before. Guess what. It hasn't happened. Know why? Because it's silly idea. My giveaway is just as valid as anyone else's. As long as what I'm giving is a Gift URL, it shouldn't matter how much I conceivably paid for it or not. Maybe I paid .01 for it. Maybe I paid 10.00 for it.
If you don't want it, don't enter it.
You can also download the Steamgifts Enhancement Suite and ignore all the Humble Bundles. You'll never see em again.

This is not about discussing the validness of the gifts. It's about morality, because as far as I know buying bundles for less than a dollar hurts both the cause and the Humble Bundle team.

Morality is Subjective.
They allowed the bundle to be bought for .01. Therefore, It's not wrong to buy it for 1 cent.

By crossing the street, pedestrians are allowing themselves to be run over. Therefore, it's not wrong to run people over. By not wearing bulletproof vests, people are allowing themselves to be shot. Therefore, it's not wrong to shoot people.

Why do the humblebundle 'charity' guys need millions for?
Comment has been collapsed.
But what if I paid 3-5 dollars for every purchase, then 2 purchases at 7-10 dollars each?
Which I did. I know a lot of people abuse the system, but there's not much you can do about it. The reason why I bought so many bundles, instead of dropping around 40-50 dollars on one bundle, is because I like having extra keys around to give to my friends (still have some spare keys I plan to give away).

The HumbleBundle-Team decied to give the Bundles away fo only one Penny, so we can buy the Bundle for only one Penny. Their decision. If they want to get enough Money for charity, they should activate a pay-minimum, but they don't. So it's no abuse, it's absolute legit.

From what I know, the staff and the moderation cares about moral values and decency around here. So it is more than a reason to block the HiBs.

If people paying 1 cent was hurting them so much, do you really think they would have done five of these by now without any kind of limit on the price you set? I agree, buying loads for 1 cent is kind of a dick move, but in the end they allow people to do so, and that's their problem.

Why not make it our problem? We don't have to live to the lowest common denominator of standards - we can go ahead and live to a higher law. If we all agree it is a dick move, why not put ourselves above that and say that we won't take part in any possible abuse of a charity system? Either ban the bundles or make it so the bundles don't add points to the community or value to gifter's profiles.

I also think SG should ban the HB. Whoever can't afford to pay, say US$5, to buy it, can pay a cent himself. Thus, I don't see a reason for it to be gifted to anyone (who owns a Steam account, like everyone in SG). Leaving it as it is now, it just gives a reason for hundreds to exploit the bundle.
I even think SG could put a banner for advertising HB. It would restore the visibility lost with the banning of the gifts, and it's for charity, anyway.

Having a HIB banner on a website like this would be implying something like "Hey buy a crapton of these and give them away here!"

Let's say 300 $0.01 Humble Frozen Synapse bundles are given away on this site. That would mean that this site would cause the Humble team to pay an extra $90 for transaction fees. Considering that they have to pay $70,000 overall I don't think this site is hurting them so badly that we have to ban the bundles here.

I think the block of Humble Bundle should be extended from when it's on sale to permanently. Now the block is over, it's clear lots of people abused the Humble Bundle offer and bought tons of them for only 1 cent.
Eg. some of the top "contributors" for this week looks fishy with a lot of giveaways for HIB's.
Humble Bundle exists because enough people don't abuse the system and want to support charity. This great site sadly gives some people with low morale an incentive to abuse the Humble Bundle deal and that just not fair to the humble bundle guys, plus it's not exactly great for SG's reputation either.
I know some people don't abuse it and have payed a fair price for it and there will always be people who will abuse the Humble Bundle deals. But sometimes you just have to do a sacrifice for "the greater good".
Cheers.
