There is a version with renewed graphics, but you have to get the original first if I remember well...

GMDX or Deus Ex Revision should do the trick. I'm currently playing them in parallel with the original.

Theres a fantastic mod for this game called Revision

5 minutes lol. Impossible? There are many games with pixel graphics nowadays and Deus Ex looks better than all of them :P
Seriously I don't think it's that bad even today, compared to Quake 1-2 or (Half Life 1 for example). Unreal engine 1 was a miracle back then and it aged well.
But come on, this game is a classic, you can't miss it.

Mmmm, may I suggest something that might help?
Well, this video (possible spoilers, I don't remember tbh) convinced me to finally play that game. The graphics and the gameplay both scared me off a few times, but once you get used to them, they (for me at least) start looking kind of cool actually :D

this guide is pretty good https://steamcommunity.com/app/6910/discussions/0/613936673444809191/
you will still need to install manually and search for some stuff.
sweetfx or reshade are also a nice extra for graphics.

Have you tried Deus Ex: Revision by any chance? As someone who never played the original Deus Ex, I'm wondering if I should mod the GOTY version or just go with the Revision.

You may want to consider going with GMDX first, see https://www.reddit.com/r/Deusex/comments/5lur5v/gmdx_vs_deus_ex_revision/

Playing it at the moment for the very first time with GMDX mod. For some reason I've missed the franchise in my childhood and told myself I can't play Human revolution without giving the classic a try before. Sio far it's quite good, still at the beginning. Feels fair in difficulty and the variety how to approach things is kinda enjoyable. Reminds me of my first Thief playthroughs. I can imagine how much of an impact it had when it was released. And honestly graphics look way better than expected.
Btw. your question confused me at first, saying the game is 'worth less than a Dollar' with 'HELL YES!!' as positive answer sounded like a kind of an insult. Then I got it ^^ Sure it's a diamond!

you're in for one hell of a ride! don't discount the other ones that came after because of reviews..they really arent bad at all

I admit I only ever put much time into the PS2 version of the original (keyboard controls can be painful with my joints) which had some changes and enhancements, but I do think this is a great game even now.
Shame I don't own IW for XBox so I can play that (as poorly rated as it is).

Well.. I might be too young to enjoy game like this..
I do enjoy playing some of the old games I played when I was kid that had horrible graphics..
But for me, at this point in my life, graphics are as important to me as is storyline and physics..

is it worth less than a Dollar?
That question can be understood in a lot of ways. For example, people who think the game is worthless would also, quite literally, think it is worth 'less than a dollar'. While you probably mean if it's worth to buy when the price is already less than a dollar.
I bet many people who like the game would say 'no, it's worth more than a dollar'.

Tried it. Don't care about the graphics (damn, I still play PS1 games). I couldn't get into it. Maybe I don't have time to invest. Maybe it isn't my type of game. Don't know. Will probably give it one more shot at some time.

I was the same. Tried it a few years ago. Couldn't... Just couldn't... But I've learned that I should give a second chance to games/movies, especially if I initially tried them out/watched them while being tired.

Oh, the original Deus Ex :) I see a lot of commenters think it's a shitty game, that genuinely surprises me O.o In my opinion, it might be the best game in the DE series (although yes, it has its flaws).

Oh please... THIS is the greatest game gaming industry ever made in our entire timespan as human species http://store.steampowered.com/app/359050/Shower_With_Your_Dad_Simulator_2015_Do_You_Still_Shower_With_Your_Dad/
Still, Deus Ex remains a masterpiece in every way you see it :P

I don't need a PC for that my N64 is still set up with the OoT cartridge in ready for whenever I fancy another visit.

i wish they would take the best bits of the half life series and deus ex series engines and merge them

After playing it last year for the first time (unmodded as well), it is now one of my all time favorites. I really enjoyed it.

why is the greatest game ever made?
-GREAT story
-awesome main character
-different paths to take
-can finish the game withoutkilling anyone (even the bosses)
-this game grounds yyou with realism and events that happened for real or will happen in the future, and that is why i think this is a unique game
-AWESOME OST, one of the best out there
-interesting side characters
-different ways to appoach the mission (stealth through different tunnels or rampage)
-the graphics still look good for a 17 year old game
-difficult choice in the end
-there a 3 sides (or factions) and all 3 have different and interesting ideologies about this world
-good dialogue system
-grid system for the inventory
-you feel like a cyborg
-you can pick up bodies instead of dragging them like DE:HR and DE:MD
-theres no map (it can be given in certain missions) so you have to use your notes
-all computers can be accessed without hacking them but by finding clue or notes in hidden spots-
Huge maps to explore
