I tend to prefer guys that play games because it's something fun we can both share our interest in, but I certainly don't have a rule that I would only date gamer guys. They don't have to be really into it, I've dated both guys that I guess I would call hardcore gamers, and guys that own an Xbox and pick it up to play Halo sometimes without being really super invested in games. My most recent partner has Steam but never uses it, and pretty much all the games he plays on Xbox or PC are ones I'm not interested in, but we still managed to share our excitement over new hardware, game trailers, advancements in the industry etc.
Finding girls that game is like finding guys that read or transvestites that go bird watching - they don't particularly hang out anywhere specific. Besides the telltale Minecraft shirt, you probably won't know one til you ask. I would just aim to meet girls in general, then just drop it into conversation. You don't have to be creepy about it, just ask what their interests are, and if they don't list games, ask them if they are into any games. But like with meeting anyone, you won't know who's worth your time til you try to get to know them. I see a lot of girls who make a point of announcing to the world every time they play Halo, they're probably not the type of person you're looking for haha.
Also, I promise I'm not an FBI agent although I think I'd make a pretty badass one with the black shades and unnecessary catsuit. And the cake is a lie DUH!! XD lolol omg im a nerd yoloswag~

The whole idea of a girl gamer is to emphasize that someone is a girl. That means anyone who self-identifies that way wants to draw attention to their gender, and anyone who uses that label on someone else is doing the same by focusing in on gender.
Stop being obsessed with gender, either because you're a horny guy or because you're a girl wanting something out of it. Alright? You're all to blame for that label and the drama which surrounds it.
For the most part, GENDER DOES NOT MATTER ON THE INTERNET. It's moot. The sooner you realize this, the better off you'll be. Unless you're using sex to sell something, gender is a non-issue. You're creating your own fantasy world if you think it counts for anything.

GENDER DOES NOT MATTER ON THE INTERNET because everyone auto assumes everyone else to be male, and as such, it is a one-gender Internet. Bearing in mind that most gender differences are physical, I quite like this alternate outlook. However, the de-anonymization of online activities could change this paradigm...

Yeah... This isn't about internet (or any other kind of) gender politics. It's about his horniness, and his intent on meeting (specifically!) a GIRL to date/make miserable with his horniness.

There's no such thing as a girl gamer. They're a myth. Whatever girl gamer you happen to find is actually just a crossdresser who likes to pretend.

The moment you stop hunting girls like a freak, is when you might actually find someone. Sure, go ahead and register on some dating website and try to flirt with someone, but I don't see the point in making a thread like this. Stating that you are "forever alone" is just another sign on that you are just another, extremely desperate, teen or virgin or whatever. Good luck with your life, and don't get too obsessed with finding girls. I was once a bit like you, desperate to find someone, I am no longer that. If you want "tips" or whatever, feel free to add me on steam, and I will torture you with such a big wall of text it will make your eyes bleed if you try to read it. Jokes aside, I just write a lot.

To be honest i dont hunt girls. I was homeschooled then moved around to various places and am finally more or less settled. Have my own place and stuff. Never had any real serious relationship before. Just worked went home played video games read books watched tv went to bed and repeated. I never looked. I waited. And so far thats gotten me nothing. Anyways i got good stuff going for me. Next few years will be the best.

I and many others here, assumed that you were pretty young (since you didn't say anything about your age). Nontheless, register on some dating-website, or if you like going out to bars and whatever, do that... I wouldn't limit myself to someone who is interested in gaming, I for one would be able to live with someone that "accepts" that I like games, even if they don't. Of course, it might be very very important for you to be able to play games WITH her... So, well, that's just, harder to find I guess. Good luck.

I don't know what's worse; that you were dumb enough to reply to that post or that you actually counted the loaves of bread.

Gamer girls (or women) is more common than you think. We are not so special ;)

Lots of ladies play games. They are everywhere, the thing about picking up a girl with interests in games is its random. People like different things. Your chances of finding a girl that loves gaming is about the same as finding a girl that loves hockey. However, ALL the females in my life, whether they be sisters, girlfriends, friends or nieces play some games. (even my mom)
Treat them the same way you'd treat any other person, and ignore the lulz, im a gurl type people and they'll come out in droves. The only time where its important to be not be completely anonymous online is in this sort of topic, where the gender is required for experience.

Pretty much this.
Treating girls like they are humans beings (because woa they're people too) instead of getting 'omg ur a girl woa' is honestly the best thing you'll be doing to yourself if you actually want to get close to a girl.

"If you were to date a guy, would he have to be a gamer or would a non gamer suit you" Ask yourself the same question. if you were to date a girl, would she have to be a gamer or non gamer would suit you as well. I would say that being a gamer is a huge plus (as with any similar hobbies or interests you might share), but what really matters is whether you like the other person or not.

I'd prefer that then be forced to go on shopping sprees. Tolerating the other person's hobbies and interests was always an obstacle in relationships. XD

I don't think Steam is that far from that, soon we'll be buying groceries and cloths from Steam!

Part of me hates the idea, but the other part would really want it. XD

If you wish to bake a cake from scratch, you must first invent the universe...

Well, i'd guess the best place to find a gamer girl is the internets... since you can't tell the difference in RL (unless you ask them one by one, but that's inefficient and time consuming) O.o
Ultima Online private shards were a great place to meet girls, years ago... nowadays, i don't really know :P

Depends on the girl really. I'm the type who wouldn't get with someone who isn't like me, so obviously I had to get a gamer boyfriend. How we did it? We both felt the same way so nobody acted creepy. You know, if your goal is finding legit girls who play games, search Tumblr or Facebook for RP and fandom communities, there are plenty of girls there who have better things to do than pretend they are girls to get free games.

Ok so after everyone insight here i decided to edit my post. My question then is how prevalent are girl gamers. By girl gamer i am referring to a girl who play all types and genres of games and enjoy them. And would it be something you look for in a guy. Would it be an important part of your relationship or would it make no difference if he almost never plays a game. Also why is the rum always gone?
