A trade made using Steam Trader Matcher was confirmed by the other guy 9th dic, when the escrow was active and give us a HOLD of 3 days, but later i made a trade with a friend and only recived a HOLD of 24 hs. That made me happy, but i wonder why one of the trade recived 3 days and other 24hs, i pressumed is something related with friendlist, since que user from the 24 hold trade was on my friend list since long time ago.

Fun fact: I get the 24h hold even though both accounts activated the stupid app in November.. both can use the market without any waiting time, but trading is held off :/ Anyone else got that problem?
Thanks Gaben!

I signed up for it with my phone, got the code, and then immediately went in and switch it back to email verification.
Hasn't bothered me since. Email works fine and is just about a secure as a secondary recovery device. Adding in your phone will not help.

So you're saying you're not getting any Escrow on your traded items even now. Basically all you need is to activate the apps once and wait 7 days, even if you switch back to the e-mail method they won't bother you with a 3-day escrow on every trade?

I just tried it, since I don't make trades very often.
It looks like email trade confirmations come with a 24-hour wait time, and unless you log in with the mobile authentication at lease once every 7 days, the wait time happens by default.
This is pretty dumb. At least it stopped spamming me with sign-up requests.

20 minutes later, I still haven't gotten the text with the code. I am guessing the are overloaded.

Ah bollocks, never knew you needed trade notifications turned on. I thought it was just enough to have the authenticator for at least 7 days. Might well be missing something, but I don't see why it wouldn't have been enough seeing as to even log in to my account before making a trade, a hacker or phisher would have needed to go through the authenticator once already.
Turned notifications on for future trades, but I still don't get that.

Here is the reasoning directly from Valve: http://store.steampowered.com/news/19618/
And new malware https://blog.malwarebytes.org/online-security/2015/12/malware-targeting-steam-traders-banks-on-new-escrow-system

Email option is still good, but have to wait 3 days to confirm the trade...oh shit!
You have a windows phone?

understandable but to some one who actually got his account hijacked this is a blessing in disguise, may be valve should devise a official desktop authenticator, trust me emails aren't prone to hackers attack, the hacker who hacked my account first got access to my email and then requested a password reset and steam code, now im using microsoft account app too.

well my point is that if you have 2step sms verification in your email, steam guard enabled(email) + phone added on steam(that works similar like 2 step sms verification) your account will be extremely secure.we don't really need that app to secure our accounts but i understand of course that steam had to take actions about security and that app will fix most of the issues.

Derp. Options for me are: not having absolutely nothing or having Steam Desktop Authenticator, which in case of pc hacking it can only see the codes you would get in the phone, there no way my email is in jeopardy because it is not linked to that app in any way, and like i said in the OP ,i hold no responsibility, that is an option for people who need it and cant have due or not having a smartphone or having a smartphone without ios or android.
I'M NOT MAKING SOMEONE DO THAT AGAINST THEIR WILL.

Just download and install Bluestacks. It's an android emulator. I've been using it for weeks already.
