What is better?
Animals are literally my job, as i work in a zoo as a zookeeper. I have taken care of already a great variety of animals, like lion, wolf, bear, otter, orang outang...
I prefer dog in my private life, but can't have one unfortunately, as i live in a really small appartement (really really, more like a room size), anyway, i spend my days with animals, so i don't feel much like i would need one at home anyway. It would be more like extra work lol.

This is my beautiful pup, Ruckli. She's a Bernese Mountain Dog. (3yrs old now) I've had pets all my life.. I think I prefer dogs now though. In addition to dogs, I've had rabbits, cats, gerbils, budgies and fish. I think deep down I prefer birds... but I just feel terrible about keeping them in cages. So I stopped buying them. I have a second Bernese, however I don't seem to have a picture of her laying around. Shes's three months younger then Ruckers. Cheers!

I had a dog 11 years ago named Sheba, who was a black Labrador at my grandparents' house. According to my dad, who grew up with Sheba, the dog was very obedient and never bit anyone - family member or stranger. She died of old age and it happened while I was at school. I don't know where she is buried but I think my dad or grandpa dug a hole in the backyard. Sheba lived with my grandparents since she was a puppy. 3 years later after her death, 2008, my aunt gave my grandparents a new dog named Lucky. However, Lucky was everything but her name because she was very on edge when strangers are close(barking wildly, teeth showing, etc.), bit my uncle on the right arm, and a month later she ran away. After Lucky escaped I never had a dog but I am considering about a corgi the future.

Because different breeds have different temperaments and requirements. For example, a jack russell terrier is a small dog, but needs to live in a big house or apartment because it loves to run around all day. A ridgeback, on the other hand, is huge, but could easily fit in a small apartment, because they're couch potatoes.
Newfoundlands are gorgeous dogs, but need to be near water to be happy, and will make your house a mess. Papillion is not for active people. Shar Pei has a tendency for violence because they were bred for dog fighting. Chihuahuas belong to one owner, and one owner only, of whom they're very protective (i.e. not for someone with a big family). Great danes are gentle creatures, great for big kids, but not little ones, because a single tail swipe can knock a toddler over. Corgis have a tendency to nip, which again makes them inappropriate for many owners/situations.
The list goes on and on. Until not too long ago, dogs were bred for a particular purpose, and you ought to keep that in mind. If the original purpose is amenable to your way of life, great. If not, there's a pretty good chance you'll make each other miserable.

get a dog if you have the time for it. might be hard in the beginning, puppys can be a pain in the *** xD but its worth it. i love to see my dog sleeping next to my 10week old babyboy :))

I used to have 7 Hamsters, 2 rabbits, 1 guinea pig, 5 cats, 1 dog and 2 canary birds (not all at the same time). But they are all gone now, currently I just have two cats.
My favorite of those was the german shepperd. She was a wonderful companion. Could go hiking with her, even do ski-tours. I simply took her everywhere. =)

i couldn't bear to loose one again. we had to put our dog down 'cause of cancer. Those dogs are really beautiful, but also very overbred (dunno if that's the correct english term) and that often causes diseases which reduce their lifespan drastically. Our dog only got 5 years old, while they usually live for more than 10.
It also takes much more time to keep a dog busy (go on walks several times a day, teach him, etc) and you also can't go on every vacation trip with him.
But one day, I want one again. Just not atm.

I used to have a lot of different rodents. My first pets were two Syrian hamsters (both girls, and of course they fought constantly - because one shouldn't keep hamsters of the same sex together; that's how stupid I was back then. Oh, well, I was maybe 8 or 9). Then there was an adorable Campbell's dwarf hamster named Mathilda. Then came one of the harshest experiences of my early teen years: rats are extremely clever and likable, and I got attached my black rat Mulder (well, actually he was blue) like you get attached to a cat or a dog; he died of pneumonia when he was only a year old. Then - a couple of North African gerbils; unfortunately, the girl was sickly, so they didn't have any babies. Then there was a long period of spiny mice: they bred, and bred, and bred (this time my mother was the crazy one)). Several hundreds of them came through our house, but I remember only a couple of them: the foremother, Grusha (it means "pear" in Russian: she usually gave birth to 5 little mice instead of 1-3 average for spieces and acqured the shape of a pear in the late term of pregnancy), forefather, Mysh, and one of their descendants, Husqvarna (very few of them got names, but that guy was special). Then there was a really long gap, and then there was an Angora Syrian hamster Oleander, he actually had a pedegree chart. That poor guy had cancer, but we actually won, although he had his leg amputated - but he adapted brilliantly. Anyway, finally he died as well, and that's it for now.
Also there was a period when I has a red-eared terrapin named Gryabushka. That ended badly, she somehow managed to get to the balcony that was in the dire need of repair and fell down from the third floor.
But the most important pet and, well, one of the best friends i ever had was my cat, her name was Koshka (in English it would be The Cat, because she was the one). She'd been with me since I was 9 till I turned 29 - basically, for all of my life. She had perfectly black fur, the most silky I've ever touched, she was smart as hell (also neurotic - an ideal match for me)), totally crazy - and also my fan, of course. I miss her, and I think several more years should pass before I'll be ready to adopt a new cat. Or maybe it'll be a dog - generally I'm a cat lover, but have nothing against these guys as well.

I have three dogs right now, I used to have another one that passed away :'( but these are the three I currently have: two chihuahua named gabi and daisy, and a third named sammy (who we got from a place called Big Dog Rescue Ranch not too long ago). I'll upload a picture of all of them (assuming I can figure out how to post images correctly).

Bunny ! My evil guy is in my icon. He sits in my lap and tries to destroy my headset, sleeps at my feet. He terrorizes me and rips stuff apart when he doesn't get his way. He makes amazing art collages from magazines, where he's artfully removed eyeballs and stuff. I've kept a few.
Being attacked by a rabbit might sound horrible, but the relationship works. I need a pet who can get my attention. A goldfish would suffer in my presence since it couldn't bark, meow, or scratch at me to let me know it was time to do its bidding.

But... but... cats are everything! :D
More seriously, I've had dogs, cats and turtles in my life. Been pet-less for a few years already, sadly. I would say that I love animals in general but I'm definitely a crazy cat lady. I love all thing cats. The Maine Coon is my favorite domestic breed and if I could have a wild one, I'd go for a Siberian tiger. So big. So much fluff. :3
Oh, and I think that slow lorises are super cute too. but the pet trade around them makes me sick

I'm a bird person myself, and specially birds of prey. I like to go out into nature and enjoy their sights. But the garden is fun as well. I have a great tit making it's nest now. So I hope to see a lot of activity this season. At this point i hate cats, because they can ruin the nest-making.
Besides i'm fascinated by wolves and bears. But never encountered them in the wild. Still on my bucketlist
