I only eat rice when I eat Asian food.
Pasta is a favorite. Especially with salmon, dill and lemon juice as well as garlic. yum. Now I made myself hungry.

Well pasta, all the way a huge positive is that there are LOOOOOTS AND LOOOOTS of pastas, and nothing beats some spaghetti with tomato sauce and cheese

I had a cat many years ago who used to eat rice. Like, plain boiled rice with tomato sauce. The vet wouldn't believe me when I told him.

Rice with meat, yes (especially tinned one which contains additives to make it more appealing to cats), but plain rice they're supposed to walk away from it.

Suppose you had to do without one of them for the rest of your life. What would you rather live without? What could you not live without?
Personally, I have spent quite a few years in Italy and I think I have had enough pasta for the rest of my life. Plus I like rice salads better.
The only downside is that rice takes longer to cook.
