Which one do you like better?
I like spaghetti with just unsalted butter and either Parmesan or Cheddar, but I really loathe that brand, Barilla :O
At least it was awful years ago when I lived in Italy (they don't sell it here, so I can't really tell if it got better).

Risotto is lush! Many years ago I had been taught by a real milanese how to make authentic milanese risotto, and it's truly delicious...
But it takes half a day to prepare...

Come to the rice side, man! Just think about Rice Krispies!

Bump. I was a NHA (nursing home administrator) and I have had enough rice to last me two lifetimes.

I live without neither so I'm good :D couldn't live without potatoes though. I fucking love potatoes :>

I have deliberately excluded potatoes because they are obviously too good to do without ;)

I have cooked a lot of pasta and rice in recent years and prefer pasta....although sometimes a decent quality rice cooked perfectly (not easy) can win out sometimes.
Although big bag of rice is so cheap and compact for the amount of sustenance it gives so that is...cool.

Oh yeah, that's my issue with it :(

Also 100% agreed, half-decent pasta costs a limb here!

Interesting combo there! I remember watching a Filipino movie years ago and I could almost understand what they were saying sometimes :O It sounded like a combination of Spanish, Italian, French, English and some Asian languages I can't identify.
Anyway, I like sinangag! I do it myself sometimes for breakfast.

Had no idea what it was until a minute ago! Looks nice, but... why ruin it with sour cream? :(
Open to trying it though. I'll have to ask my Russian coworkers, maybe they can tell me where I can find some around here.

Risotto is lush!
I used to do a decent one with spinach, but my favourite is with saffron. Both take a lot of time and effort to prepare :(

I love every kind of risotto ;3 but I think my 2 fav ones are quattro formaggi and wild mushroom risottos :> And I don't mind it taking a lot of time to prepare - I love cooking, it's relaxing for me so I can spend even half a day in kitchen and it will be fine ;p

Suppose you had to do without one of them for the rest of your life. What would you rather live without? What could you not live without?
Personally, I have spent quite a few years in Italy and I think I have had enough pasta for the rest of my life. Plus I like rice salads better.
The only downside is that rice takes longer to cook.
And of course there are unrelated giveaways to be found here:
Pasta (OVER)
Rice (OVER)
