It's finally here!

You're able to purchase it as a gift, even if you have an active HB subscription. Just immediately claim it and it gives you additional monthly credits on top of whatever plan you have now. I believe claiming the gift link will immediately charge you with 1 credit for the current month (if you have not yet purchased it) so wait until there's a month you plan on purchasing before claiming. Gift links supposedly last forever and you can stack up to 24 months worth of credit at a time. (Don't quote me on the "last forever" bit)

If you really want to take it now, I can buy another copy as a gift and send it to you.
I put aside 100 USD for the winter sale and I can help you with this money now, and you just transfer it to my Steam account balance a little later (the main thing is before the winter sale).

I thank you for your offer, but wouldn't we have currency differences?

I asked my mom (which i really am starting to feel bad about, so constantly) and one time she can immediately send it, and the other she lets me wait, so i don't know right now and worse case i probably can wait till christmas if they do it again (it used to be the case the previous years if i am not mistaken?) The worse thing that could happen is i take a 16 euro or so extra hit.

To be honest, I didn't think about such a pitfall, since in my country and in the countries around it, all foreign transactions are calculated in dollars. The euro is extremely unpopular here. And if you top up your Steam balance in dollars, then Steam automatically converts these dollars into my regional currency.

Comment has been collapsed.

Well i don't know what country you are from but i thought you even had your own currency beside dollars even.
I know a friend in the US and we gave eachother a lot of games, i even let him borrow enough for a steamdeck last year, years ago euro/dollar was pretty much 1:1 but now it's more like 2:1, can't blame it that the euro is unpopular many people in many european countries never wanted it to begin with (we had a referendum and said no but our government decided yes).

I renewed HB Choice last december by mistake. I was going to cancel it but I said "well, I'll at least have a few games every month". That was when I was going to commit to stop spending so much money on games and be happy with what I have. Until this november actually I did pretty good.
But sadly I'm not renewing HB Choice again. Not because I don't like it, not because I can't afford it. Just because I'm going mad at me for this months excesses, I have to go back to that commitment.
Damn I was just going to say "nice offer but I think I'll not renew". And as always I end telling everyone about my whole life. "One dark, stormy thursday night in 1972..."

The J stands for a musician, the M for a film director, and the other M for a writer.

And if you believe that, I can sell you the Eiffel Tower for cheap. Just reselling as scrap will give you benefits - I don't do it myself because I'm busy "making business" with other gullible people.

(I hope everyone got that it's a joke.)

It's a very smart choice. It's better to be passionate about one game that you're truly interested in rather than having a bunch of games in bulk and letting them rot in your library. Good job. (But I think I'll buy it lol)

Yes, if you redeem it now the months will just add to what you have left, double check that it's still paused and doesn't resumes automatically and thats it.

You can also save the mail and redeem when you want, but i won't trust that much.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, it says "Plan begins when redeemed. Cannot be used to obtain previous months. Must be redeemed on a new or compatible membership plan."

So I'll keep the mail and redeem it when I decide to unpause.

Its just 12 month claims so you can pause as much as you want.

This is literally my question, for example could I like use only 3 months per year making this subscription last 4 years?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes, (provided the service continues that long), nothing is stopping you from pausing, canceling, and so on with this. Other than losing the store benefit that I have never once made use of.

I have 3 months leftover right now from previously skipping some months in the past, so the gift I bought today will have to sit in my email for a few months. Here's a visual from my billing history to give you an actual example. Although I haven't paused anytime this current year so I went back to the 2022-2023 period.

HB is so clueless. I've been telling them for years - let me sync my steam account (owned games and wishlist) and let me browse the games on the store that I don't own and/or actually want. My account was connected to hb anyway, because it used to be how the keys were redeemed (oauth). But no, they never did it and eventually I stopped even looking at their store, because why would I? Always the same deals on the same games that I already have. Waste of time. So yeah, couldn't care less about the choice discount either.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They do have a weird we hate money and customers energy despite being owned by a corporate monolith. Suppose some people might find it charming.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

haha my reason is less grand. I just either rarely buy new games that the discount would matter or am waiting for something to show up in a bundle, so their store doesn't win for me.

That and the fact that if it is a rare time that I do go for a new game, chances are it is close to cheap on another store that doesn't require me to stay loyal for a year. Like when KH INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE released for Steam a few months ago, GMG had it for like $56.57 if you were an XP member. Humble store's lowest is what it is right now, $64.99, and with a fully unlocked bonus, it's $60.12. I'd save more if I simply skipped redeeming a month.

I'll still give humble credit, $4.51 of that 60.12 on the store would go to a charity, so that's nice. Yet if I had that as a main factor, I could have still bought from GMG and donated the money to a charity of my choice and still broke even.

Overall, I like humble choice in general, it's just the store bonus that's lost on me.

For comparison here are the "Black Friday" offers for the annual Choice membership for EUR for previous years:

2020 - €83 AND a free extra month bonus, so that's €83/13months = €6.40/month (or €6.92 + 1 month free)
2021 - €86, no free extra month = €7.17/month
2022 - €87, no free extra month = €7.25/month
2023 - €93, no free extra month = €7.75/month
2024 - €93, no free extra month = €7.75/month

Probably a consequence of EURUSD currency decline.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Back in 2021, I believe US was $89 for the Black Friday annual deal. Humble Choice was different back in those days with this annual plan (unless you were on Classic) that only limited you to pick 3 games from the month I believe rather than the all 10 we have now.

And, you know, five years of rampant inflation. Looking back am a bit annoyed I spent the year boycotting them (not sulking at all, honest) over that Whitethorn bundle, even the games seem to have been better this year.

Understandable, it's ridiculous what they do with the keys. So I always pay attention to give absolute minimum to Humble, claim my keys immediately, and store them in a spreadsheet. They can't be trusted with things like that...

In USD, I think it's been $99 since they started doing black friday deals on it (not positive), so that's probably the "base price" and they adjust from there

Choose the option to buy it as a gift. It will ask you for an email address to send the gift to.
Then you will get an email with a redemption link - which you can use later when you want to.

Thank you, just bought it using this. Didn't redeem yet, will wait the 6 months for $8 coupon to end. Also, I didn't see the gift link anywhere in the site - is it available only in the email???

Comment has been collapsed.

It's less attractive than it used to be when you were giving more discounts on subscriptions, but I think it's worth buying because you have almost no waiting rewards, like the recent pause discount on Humble Choice. Looking at the Choice thread, I can barely see any comments about blindly waiting for a $6 subscription now.

Also, to be honest - not having to juggle pauses, hoping for a coupon, then ending up getting a bundle where 1-2-3 games are already out of keys by the end of the month.

Hello, I've got a little question. My situation: I still have my last Humble Choice cheap month to consume 6.49€. I may buy this offer of 93€. How should I do it if I want to take profit of my last remaining cheap month and this new offer?

I have understood I should buy this offer with an alternative account and send it to my main account as a gift after I have redeemed the last cheap month with my main account. That means, on December 2nd I will see the new Choice, decide if I get it and buy this offer with my alternative account as a gift. Am I correct?
