Number 3 has been modified with added clarification that will help in this discussion.
No. 3-- All submissions must be completed using the original dot-to-dot picture. (no freehand drawings, different views etc.) Original lines must be kept in the final submission. Dots and numbers, however, may be kept or deleted from final submission.
NOTE: Because it was unclear we will accept submissions this week but future weeks must retain all original lines.

Thanks for entering!
Actually the fact that you colored this using paint is impressing me. I have zero skills when it comes to paint. The only thing I can do with it is resizing an image.

Thanks. I have an extremely limited skill set to work with. :-3

Thanks for participating :) I start to see a very personal style with your submissions (I love rainbows :) )

It really is unique, and with that on-going factor, you can even see changes for yourself if you go with a few years of interval between the visits. Truly fascinating.
And sorry if the challenge itself is too manual :( You can also do it with any image editing program if that's what you mean by too manual?

Well it looks close enough ;p The outside always gave me a creepy feeling when i was a kid, while the inside is so pretty and colorful.

Spreading the work over days, I think I might finish Sagrada today, if not, definitely tomorrow.
Only once that is finished, I will start the square.

It was to make it less of a massive block of text for people who don't care about the details!

It did really took a lot of time and craftsmanship to build that one. And to think that it would have taken even way more time if they hadn't started using computers 30+ years ago (a tool that didn't even exist when the construction started) is kind of astonishing.

Indeed!
I'm always thinking about that when I visit those kind of monuments (I'm not into the religious part of it but I love architecture) and it's always even more impressive when you take time to think about the means they had at the time the building was made compared to now.

Thanks for the links, I had heard about the one of the cathedral in madrid, but not the one of the road. For some reason, even if it took it "less" time, I'm even more impressed about the case of the road through the mountain, which benefited a whole community (and will benefits many more generations to come).

Yeah let me put mine under that of Jeff's
5 year old drawing

If you mean the 2 monuments of week 1, sadly not, the voting has started already. It should be no big deal though, keep going next week ;)

Nice, I can't wait to see your colored version. Sleep tight in the meanwhile ;)

I think Tree means transparency for the background. Which works fine if the background of is light but probably makes his outline disappear if the background is black

You should give it a try, you can even just do the connect the dot part, but even a few spots of color count for the paint part ;) and thanks for the bump, I appreciate it a lot :)

Haha I love yours. I was going more or less that way too. The benches in Park Guell (your second photo) are from the same architect, so it's a great idea :D. Thanks for your submission.

I didn't remember it was from Gaudi as well, but it was kind of expected it had to be his as well, seeing as so many things are his in Barcelona. :P
I went there in my last year in high school(around 8 years ago), they were working on the inside of the cathedral then,if I remember correctly, so that was a bit less.

There's so many of his amazing work to see around Barcelona Do i sound too much like a fangirl?, my favorites are both the park Guell and the Casa Batllo (which i'm trying to color my entry for this week to look like, see attached photo) but the sagrada familia is growing on me the more i look at the glass art.
As for what you say, it's totally possible, I wouldn't be able to tell when what was done, but since it's perpetually in works. I can't wait for it to be completed and go see the result.

Let's keep it at passionate.
It does look familiar, if it is publicly accessible, I might have entered that one.

It's on one of the main avenue of Barcelona, and you can visit it I think (but I think you need to pay a ticket entrance). I've always wanted to go inside but everytime I went the line was so huge with groups of tourists that I never did.

Thanks.
It had better be, it took a long time drawing all the pieces. :D

Nice! I love how it looks without the lines too, but I assume you need them. Thanks for your submission :D

Note: So far there are 30 GA's for the first week... each week we will try to keep it at 30 GAs. This doesn't include future GAs for leaderboard winners!! (We only had about 35 participants in first week so chances of winning a GA is VERY HIGH!)

I was thinking in the stained glass direction at first too. :)

The SAGRADA FAMILIA Challenge !
Where: Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain
What: The most visited monument in Spain.
Interesting facts
It's been in construction for more than a century and is still not done. Started in 1882, the construction of the Sagrada Familia has been going ever since. It's been recently announced it's expected to be finished in 2026, for the centennial of Gaudí’s death. It would have taken even longer without the use of computers starting in the 1980s. In comparaison, the Great Pyramid only took 20 years to build.
The architect, Antoni Gaudi (whose amazing work can be seen all over Barcelona), dedicated 40 years of his life to it. Even though he knew he wouldn't see the completion of his biggest project during his lifetime, only 25% of the church was completed when he passed. Only one of the towers was erected at the time and one of the 3 facades was completed.
In 1926, Gaudi was hit by a tram on his way to his daily visit to the church for his prayer and confession. He lost consciousness and because of his clothing and lack of papers, he was assumed to be a beggar, and as such he didn't receive immediate help. He was brought to the hospital but only received rudimentary care. By the time he was recognized on the following day, it was too late for anything to be done as his condition was too deteriorated. He died 3 days after his accident, on June 10, at the age of 73. He's buried in the crypt of the Sagrada Familia.
When completed, it will be the tallest religious building in all of Europe. The central tower in the middle will reach 170 meters high. Though, that number is no coincidence. Gaudi, who was a very pious man, believed no man-made structure should be higher than God's work. Montjuïc, Barcelona's highest point, is 1m higher than the Sagrada Familia's final size.
The final design includes 18 towers, even if for now only 8 are finished. They will represent the 12 apostles, the 4 evangelists, the virgin Mary and finally, the central tower would represent Jesus.
Most of Gaudi's original plans and models have been destroyed during the civil war in 1936 when anarchists set fire to the crypt. Thankfully, enough could be saved and pieced together, even though many people argue the final building will be far away from Gaudi's style and vision.
The inside is even more amazing than the outside. You can argue it's my personal opinion, but once you step inside the Sagrada Familia, it's hard to not be impressed by the interior's stunning design. (Please check the photos below for a view at some of the stained glass artwork.)
Everything has a hidden symbolism. One of my favorite part are the interior pillars which are designed to look like trees when you look up at them. One pillar has a turtle at its base, and another a tortoise to show the balance between land and sea. (All of Gaudi's work was heavily influenced by nature)
The money of your ticket will keep the building going as the project is not funded either by the state or the church, but by private funds and the admissions/donations of the visitors.
And to conclude this (long, sorry) list of facts, if you ever go to Barcelona, I'd highly recommend taking time to visit the Sagrada Familia. Thanks for reading if you reached this, I hope you enjoyed the trip.
GOOD LUCK on the challenge! Create some breath-taking Sagrada Familia for some awesome GA wins!
PS: Today (Sept 11th) happens to be Catalonia's national day so happy national day to any catalan on SG!
