First of all, please don't insult whoever vote, or me. Everyone who voted was between 18 and 30 years old. That's hardly being a "kid", so please refrain from insulting whoever helped me. If you got any problem, please discuss it without insults.
Also, saying that I'm bribing someone is very serious! No one voted against their will, I didn't bribe anyone! I hope you do understand this!
I was thinking about just asking for votes, but I felt like I needed to give something back in return, since the votes I got from here were the ones who got me on the Top 5 of the contest. I see nothing wrong about making a giveaway.
And yes, I am advertising. There's no other way to ask for votes without advertising.
Now, listen here. What's so wrong about helping someone do what they love the most? This past year I've shot a documentary all by myself, making ZERO money out of it. I eventually got invited to film a Jazz Tour because of that same documentary, and do you know how much I got paid for 6 months filming that tour? ZERO. Why did I accepted it? Because I want to learn more while I can, and I'm not a money hungry guy. I also spent part of 2012 filming cultural events (once again, for FREE) because I want to promote these events, and inspire people to give life to their own ideas.
I want to keep doing what I love the most, which is making films. I know that I'll probably won't make a living without making commercial jobs, but that's how life is.
As long as I have an opportunity to make films, either making a profit out of them or not, I take it. And this opportunity is really huge for me right now. I would get your frustration if this was some frag movie champ asking for money for his next "edit", but for a guy asking for a simple click and that same guy gives everyone a chance to win a game at the end?
Wow, just wow.
Thanks for your insight on the subject though.

It might seem that I'm trying to "buy" votes with a game, but I just felt that if I made a post like this, it would be rude to ask for such a favour without giving anything in return, right? It's the least I can do, if all these votes get me in the Top 100.
Since you seem to be a nice guy, I'll include you in the giveaway aswell. But sometimes it's just good to hear words of encouragement, you know?
Take my first documentary as an example. I had no money to buy my current sound equipment for the documentary, aswell no budget to pay for the trips I made for all those villages (and don't even get me started on the lodging prices, those are insane, I even considered sleeping on my car, just to make the documentary). So, instead of giving up, I made a Crowdfunding campaign, and asked for 1560€ (this only covered the equipment price, I still had to pay for all the other expenses). Many of my friends and contacts on Facebook said I was crazy, no one would support a project like this, no matter how interesting it was. The truth is, after 4 months, I raised 1600€ (minus taxes). During all this, I grabbed the attention of the organization that promotes tourism on those kind of villages (Schist Villages), and they called me for a meeting. I got on my car, drove for 2h, and walked out of the meeting with the promisse of free lodging and 500€ for extra expenses (food, fuel, etc).
I'm not the kind of guy that gives up, and certainly doesn't lose. If the documentary could be better than it is? I have no doubt about that, specially since I had to learn how to use the sound equipment by myself, from square one. The first week of shooting was a mess, the sound was horrible and I was afraid that I couldn't do it. Then I took a 3 day break, started reading as most as I could about sound, and my equipment, and after 3 days of testing I had enough know-how to work with the microphone I had.
So don't take me wrong, but sometimes... all this negativity just feel annoying. Now I can proudly said that I made a 36 minute documentary all by myself, and that I was (most likely) the first person in my country to fund my documentary via Crowdfunding.
Sorry for the long post, I just can't help myself. Have a great day and sorry if I sent the wrong message with this post. I have no intention of scamming or bribing anyone. Given my education, if I ask a favour, it's rude not to give something in return. It's the least I can do.

In case you didn't notice, I made a new video, TOTALLY IN ENGLISH, because people said they couldn't understand the previous video.
Why do you have to be such a negative person? Have you got no passion for anything in your life? If I were to listen to everyone who says I can't do this, can't do that, I wouldn't be standing here today with a film of my own already.
I apologized for not having subtitles for my documentary, but I finished it two weeks ago. I'm pretty sure you can imagine that subtitling a 40 minute documentary takes quite a bit of effort.
I'm glad most of the people that commented here can relate to my passion and commitment to my work. I wish you all the best, but try to do something with your life besides taking down your frustrations in someone else.
If you could, just for a second, imagine how important this is to my career and work, you wouldn't say I'm trying to scam people.

That's completely beside the point. This is simply the wrong place to self-advertise.
I'm sure that musicians begging in the subway, who are sticking their instruments in my face against my will, are also very passionate about their art. And I'm also sure that it's of vital importance to them that they get the money they need. It's still not cool to abuse the rules just because they get away with it.
I stand by calling this campaign a scam, no matter how important your video might be to you or anyone else.
I won't be commenting on this any more, as I don't want to bump this thread even further.
You are an abusive scammer and I'm shocked that other people here just let it slide.

That's your view on the subject, and I have to respect that. I do disagree with you though. If I'm advertising my project? Of course I am, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get votes. But this is hardly a scam.
If you said I was a spammer, I might agree with you on that, I overdid this whole thread a bit, but scam? No. Never.
No one in here is doing something that they're not aware of. The goal is pretty clear, it's pretty self-explanatory. I exposed the situation clearly and no one, except the two people talking here, confused this with a scam.
So my guess is that you're either not getting the point of the contest, or you just want to dump your frustrations on someone who's trying to do follow their dreams. Do you also go to the musicians on the subway and call them scammers for asking money to the people passing by? Because that's exactly what you just did, twice.
Have a good day!
PS: If I do happen to win the contest, I'll come back to Steamgifts and post the ENTIRE documentary (with subtitles) so you can watch it, like everyone else that helped me (that might take a couple of months though, production takes quite a while, specially if you work alone, like me).
PS2: Post says that if you're voting, you're helping me get to the TOP 100 most voted projects on this contest. If I do win, I'll receive 5000€ to finance my project, which is a new documentary about young portuguese artists. Also, regardless if I win or not, I'll still make a videogame giveaway for everyone who voted and helped me on Steamgifts. I hope this clears whatever doubts you have. I feel very insulted for being called a scammer. I never intented to fool anyone in here, and I always answered every questions everyone had. I'm shocked you took your time to insult me like that.

I invited everyone who voted for me and wrote a comment here about it. There were one or two persons that I couldn't invite, but I added them as my friends, so I can add them to the group later. I'll make a poll to choose the game of the giveaway when the contest ends (around 14 OCT). Meanwhile, if you have friends between 18 and 30 years old, tell them about this contest and help me reach the 300 votes.
Thank you very much for your help!

So, I made this video (now in ENGLISH) so that everyone can understand it and see a brief video of what've been doing the last year. I hope you enjoy it (and forgive me for the horrible color and text at the end, I just couldn've find a decent way to put the instructions on how to vote).
Thanks guys!

Hello everyone! Since there's less than a week for the voting to end, I need just another 50 votes to reach 300 votes. Meanwhile, I re-edited my promotional video and made it a short-film. All footage was shot by me (and of course edited too), the music is by Foxes In Fiction (which has given me permission to use his work in my projects): Short Film 00:01:00
Have fun!

Hi everyone! I figured we'd play a game, since this is steamgifts after all.
I'm a young filmmaker and I just finished my first HUGE project. It was a documentary about the everyday life on Schist villages in Portugal (you can see the trailers and whatsoever in here, here, here, and here). I produced, edited, filmed, and directed this 36 minute documentary all by myself (I apologize for not having subtitles, but all of my current work finishing the color correction on the documentary, plus writing my thesis, as you can imagine, takes all the time I have left).
Now I find myself looking forward a more "urbanish" project. I was thinking about making a new documentary about young artists, that such as myself, keep working on new ideas and projects. So far I've determined I'm going to follow the steps of a bboy/bgirl, a musician, and an illustrator. But for such a project, funding is always needed. For my last documentary, I managed to get 1600€ from a Crowdfunding campaign. This time I don't want to ask people for money again, I want to try something new.
So this is where you come in. I entered for the Benetton "Unemployee of the year" contest, which gives 5000€ to finance the winners project. The top 100 projects with more votes get the prize.
All you have to do is vote here: Our Artists Project (it's a temporary title, don't worry).
You have to click on "Connect with Facebook", and then there should be a button on the bottom of the page with "Aprecciate it" written on, and you can login with Facebook to register your vote, so it's a fairly simple process.
Everyone who votes for this project, please comment here. I'll do a group at the end of the contest, and everyone who voted for me will be invited to this group and get the chance to win a game of their choice (I'll make a poll and you'll vote for the game you want).
Seems fair enough?
Thanks everyone!
PS: I made a new promotional video in ENGLISH for you guys! Check the video out! Thank you!
PS2: If anyone has any doubts about how the contest works, what's the documentary about, what I've been working until now, etc., just ask me. I'll try to answer to every doubts you guys might have! Thanks for helping me so far!
