All this talk about net neutrality has got me thinking about how much a free market actually does to keep price competitive, especially with all the monopolies that telecommunication companies have all over the world.

I currently pay $40 USD a month for 200Mbps fibre internet, home line with free local calls and a "slightly" unreliable IPTV. And more for cable TV obviously. I could have 1 Gbps for the same price without IPTV but no switching mobile phones every year. So how much do you pay for your internet? I live in Singapore BTW and I feel so bad about complaining right now...

Actually I just want to give away a copy of Contrast but need a reason to open a thread. LVL 1 and above only though.

my isp is named VMedia and they are rogers and bell resellers. i pay $64.xx for 40/4 connection with no limit. i dont have tv but pay around 55/mo for my cell through telus

I get my internet for free from the university. It's not incredibly fast, but enough to play online with, so I'm glad.
EDIT: I just tested, I get 7Mb/s down and 10Mb/s up.

I currently pay $45 for 2mbps internet + cable TV, without cable it would be 5mbps... really expensive here.

It is 34 Euros/Month for:

  • 30 mbps download and 2 upload
  • 1500 Minutes for local calls
  • 150 minutes for local cell phones

I am more than pleased with the speed, i never reach the 1500 minutes of local calls and neither do i reach the 150 of cell phones. Besides, my household uses these services for 16 hours a day so based on the calculations i pay 16x30=480 hours and 34/480=0.07 Eurocents per hour. Not bad at all! (The truth is that this price has been cut to half due to the fact that i belong to a special category, normal price is 75 per month!).

I pay around 9.11 USD for 50 Mbps, but in almost every case i use it, i get around 100 Mbps of speed.

Around 20 USD/month for 10Mbps. But I think that also includes calls.
The best I can get here is around 16Mbps. And 20~25Mbps if I move to downtown.

25 € for (see below), but it's limited to 100 GB per month. I live in the deepest countryside of Germany, I feel blessed ;P

Oh and yeah, countrywide landline calls flatrate included.

~18USD for 100/100 Mbps fibre connection, without TV, no limits. ISP is Polish Netia.

Plus 21.5USD for mobile phone with free SMS, phone-talks and 3Gb internet per month, but it's a package with smartphone as well, so that's why it's so costly ;p
