So back in 2013 I bought a physical copy of Skyrim Legendary Edition. I've been mostly pirating games up to that point (Skyrim included) but the whole modding community and the sheer amount of enjoyment I got out of the game convinced me to buy a legit copy of it.

Never looked back since, I bought almost all games I enjoyed playing before and never felt the need to pirate a game again.

Now that this Skyrim paid modding controversy is over it is only fitting to give away a copy of Skyrim Legendary Edition.

The giveaway is for whitelisted people only, however I'd be more than happy to add more people to my list. Just leave a comment and I'll get back to you if I decided to add you to my whitelist.

[Update] I'm trying to skim through the comments every now and then and whitelist people. If I just comment "whitelisted" or sth without a meaningful reply is not because I don't care about what your saying in your comment, I'm just simply way too tired to respond properly. (woke up at 3.30am today after 2 hours of sleep etc)

There is also a giveaway for Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins for the rest of you, so that you don't miss out. (both are excellent games, dare to say much much better than an un-modded Skyrim).

Without further ado:

The Elder Scrolls Skyrim Legendary Edition

Mass Effect 2

Dragon Age: Origins

We have brightly coloured money too! Although we no longer have a penny... which is kind of weird.

I pirated everything too but then i found out that on steam games are dirt cheap (compared to real games shop) and actually working properly (mostly) and include online/lan/co-op features.

Same happened with me. Played a lot of pirated games. Later i bought the game on Steam that i played the most even though i'm not playing it anymore. It was Counter-Strike. Played hundreds of hours on hungarian servers prior to the purchase and bought it even though i knew i was not going to start playing it again after the more then a year long hiatus.
I'm collecting the games i cared about and replaying as much as i can.

I've played Morrowind a lot, but never felt the need to try Skyrim. It just looks so time-consuming. :S
Got ME2 & DA:O from HB, and am definately going to play them one day.

Also, like you, I've used to pirate most (new) games as I was only interested in singleplayer games with a decent story. And my earlier games were pretty much all pre-2004. My first game I got on steam was Dark Souls 2 then, and I don't regret any hour spent with its awesome multiplayer techniques.

Well, thanks if you decide to add me to your list.

Is there a way to check which game(s) have been in your library the longest?
I cannot remember what game it was. I was most likely drunk when I added it.
Thanks for Skyrim and the other two, I know I have them though, I just checked.
I should play them sometime. Just as soon as I get a $400 CS:GO knife.

Portal was my first game.

Cheers.

Morrowind was one of the first games I ever bought. Then I bought it again when Tribunal came out. And then again with Bloodmoon. And then I learned about Steam and starting building a library there so I bought it yet again. I also bought Oblivion twice, once boxed vanilla and then the Deluxe edition on Steam.
Then I got wise (finally) to Bethesda methods and waited and waited on Skyrim GOTY. But I ended up winning vanilla here on SG. I got to level 60 something and the game got increasingly easier and I couldn't find a challenge so I quit. I want to start over with the full game and some challenging mods or at least no enchanting/no stealth. Just something to make it harder after level 30-40 or so. I mean I was one or two shotting Thalmor guards. Blood dragons were swatted away with ease. I was way overpowered and while that is fun to a point, it got boring and I couldn't keep playing that way.

I don't remember the first game I bought on Steam... but I can tell you that I've bought Skyrim LE out of guilt. I've put 50-70 hours on (pirated) vanilla Skyrim and, well, I just thought that I should get the real thing so when I saw the Legendary Edition on sale, I though "why not?". I have yet to install it though. Hopefully I will be able to import my saved character because there's no way I'm gonna start over again. >.<

So... are you saying that we should absolutely use mods for Skyrim LE? Which ones? I don't mod my games much... lately, I've only added mods for Thief Gold, but just because they add nicer graphics. (played the original version aeons ago, thankwhatevetgods for mods)

The first game I ever got on Steam was Portal 1. I bought it off the shelf at Future Shop (now called Best Buy) and thought I would be able to play it just like that but it turned out it was more or less a Steam key in a box with a CD that pretty much just installed the Steam client (out dated so had to download updates anyway).... I hated the idea of not having physical media so I held off as long as I could.... I still prefer physical but more often then not, they are just Steam keys or some other client keys in a box now....

Yup the same happened to me with Skyrim. I haven't heard much about Steam before (been living under a rock I guess). I was like "oh well" Christmas sale came not so long after, picked up a few games like Witcher 1 etc. Now here I am with 800+ games lol.

For a while I tried to keep buying retail Steam keys so I had the box to sit on my shelf... but then the Humble Bundle launched... and well bundle obsession kicked in... I finally managed to kick that.... sort of... relapses happen. Now I buy Steam games because of the Workshop's easy modding. Then the whole Skyrim thing went paid mod and I started feeling like I should go back to attempting to just do the DRM-Free thing again.. then it went away... and I was left befuddled. Starting to think DRM-less copies are better again.

I don't see the point of DRM in 2015. Literally everything gets pirated now regardless of the level of DRM it has. Remember Tages or SecuROM? Heck pirating was actually better for your system than buying a legit copy.

I never used the workshop for Skyrim. Skyrim has a reputation for being easy to mod but when I think about all the custom INIs, SKSE script extender, SSME, BOSS/LOOT, TESVEdit, Wrye Bash, NMM, Unofficial patches and the Creation Kit then I realize that the workshop doesn't have a fraction of the tools you need to properly mod Skyrim. Still I've been modding Total War games for a while now, and they really are a pain in the butt to work with. I use the workshop for Civilization V (although I started to create my own re-balancing, enhancing mods to spice up the gameplay a bit), and Age of Mythology just to get some texture packs etc. Not really impressed with the feature.

Sounds rather like my own checkered past, albeit I "pirated" Super Nintendo ROMs in lieu of PC games. In time I came to adore certain titles so greatly that I tracked down a couple functional cartridges, ripped the ROM for safekeeping via emulation with the help of a Retrode and never looked back... also had the chance to buy Yasumi Matsuno a drink once at the TGS, which I did with fanboyish glee!

I'd appreciate the opportunity to join your whitelist, but am otherwise glad to participate in the Mass Effect 2 giveaway.
Very generous of you, mate.

Haha sounds like you were a pirate mechanic lol. I remember having a friend who was selling copies of games on floppy disks on the black market. He had his own stall and chair making good money. It was 15-18 years ago I was a wee kid. Piracy back then was a bit harder.

Also welcome to my whitelist :)
