I have got to admit, after watching KBS World (Korean Broadcasting Service) for 3 years now, that some KPop songs are catchy.

What are your thoughts on it? Outdated? Different, but still alright? Let's hear it!

P.S. Gangnam Style doesn't count!

EDIT: Great comments so far, but be more specific! If you like Kpop, why an what are some of you're favorite Kpop groups and songs. If not, what kind of music genre you prefer?

It depends on a song. As an otaku, i ve heard a lot of (especially J-pop) songs, and through some catchy openings I got to some pretty interesting songs. But what I really love is Touhou metal, its just so catchy :D

Not really interested in K-POP, I am much more of a fan for Vocaloid/J-Pop.

I mostly hear kpop music on korean sc2 streams, but apart from a noteworthy exception that managed to drill its way into my head (the gg song), I don't really like them as they feel dated and boring.

As a non otaku-anime lover, I can say that I don't like J-Pop and K-Pop. Tbh I don't even like music in my native language (spanish) except some indie groups. I'm more of a british alternative music groups boy.

A love of how you weren't ashamed to admit you like SNSD and 2NE1. Most non-Korean guys are...Next question: what's your favorite song from those two bands?

Man, you just listed my favorites 2NE1 songs, except Lonely, Can't Nobody and Try To Follow. Wanna start a Steam KPop group together!? xD

Check out their latest singles. Sound more mainstream, but I like them both:

Falling in Love

Do You Love Me

She's my favorite from the group. In "Ugly", that part when she removes the mask, my heart just about stopped!

From KPop bands I like BigBang (TOP especially), also a couple of songs from Nassun and Hyori. I think that my interest for KPop grew as I started learning Korean on my own. GD from BigBang has become quite unbearable lately so he is probably the one from BB I do not like that much. :D

P.S. Other than that, my fav genre is Trance, Prog House, Techno but I tend to listen to songs from almost all genres (except Country).

I've heard BigBang are kinda like the male 2NE1, so I think I'll give them a try. Ugghhh, I hate Country except for classic Shania Twain and some Taylor Swift...(I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22!)

I liked some J-pop and J-rock for quite a while(savage genius, Aya Kamiki, Jyukai/樹海, Kuroki Meisa, Aya Matsuura), but I mainly stuck to free "samplers" that I got off Last.fm(樹海 has a pretty nice selection that I would recommend) because the stuff I did like was ridiculously expensive to buy on CD. I listened to a couple of Kpop girl bands/singers(SNSD namely, but also T-ARA), but like with the J-pop it's no longer on my "regular listening" list.

I aren't really a "pop person", I mainly like my alternative (rock), indie, melodic metal and as of late particularly Scandinavian music.

I haven't listened to K-Pop. I'll try listening to a few songs.

First song I'm listening to: HERE
Catchy and great singers. Sounds better than US pop groups.

I loathe Kpop, but i'm pretty lucky that i don't see it everyday. Favorite genre? Prog Rock, Psyche Rock, Jazz, the many genres of Heavy Metal and lotta Neil Young.

oh and for those who said you want to try out new music, Kpop being the case in this instance, you wouldn't want to once you lived in Asia.

That is definitely Japanese. Some of the words are less common so I can't understand it completely though. I didn't learn Japanese properly, unfortunately. I learned through watching anime. Apparently, a lot of people learn that way.

I was actually saying that I hoped that it didn't turn violent or something. It doesn't seem like it will be going that way though. I've watched the first three so far. The 4th wouldn't load for some reason.

Some songs are good and the melody is catchy (and unique), but they seem to be focusing more on the dances aspect instead of the actual lyrics/music/song. It seems like the whole thing is directing towards using sexuality and not really "talent"

Some are catchy, but KPop is too noisy for me in general. I listen to like, 5 KPop songs that are on my iPod - 5 songs among the 1500 songs I have on there.

I like KPOP that isn't influenced by western rap. I'm talking ones that don't mimic early noughties' music and music videos.

SNSD and KARA would be my favourites. I am aware some of their songs are purely what I said I didn't like. Some of them.

Considering I had to google (and Youtube) kpop to actually know what you were talking about, I'd say I don't really have an opinion about the genre at this time. I found songs that sounded like bad rehashes of Gangnam Style and others that sounded like Britney Spears singing in Korean. I saw good and bad (to my taste) songs supposedly part of the genre, so I could say I like SOME of it. I kinda like pop music in general but not all of it, so I could probably enjoy it.

I like K-pop.. I listen to quite a lot of different artists. I was first introduced Super Junior a few years ago by this Korean kid who had just recently moved to Australia and was obsessed with them. lol.
