Hello, does someone know of a good earth colonialism game? Not space exploration please. I already have Colonization and its remake, Alpha Centauri and its expansion, Civilization IV and V with expansions, Europa Universalis III and expansions, Victoria II, Crusader Kings 2, Port Royale 2, Patrician III/IV and Imperialism II. I know some of those games don't have aspects of colonialism but they have some aspects of cultural colonialism.

I really want to play a game where I explore not only the American continents but also Africa, Asia and Oceania. Establish colonies, forts and trading posts, create chartered companies, privateering, controlling sea and land trade/exploration routes and so on.

I know of Expeditions Conquistador but I prefer a managerial type of game like Europa Universalis III and Victoria II, please don't recommend me the Nitro Games like Commander and East India Company because I've already tried those and they're to shallow/combat oriented. There's not exploration.

I would be very good to have a game like Pioneers but in a grand strategy scale like Europa Universalis/Victoria (I really want to play Europa Universalis IV). link to the official game site of the Pioneers game - they're stuck to the Build 5 since some time

The Settlers online is a nice one, I believe it's free as well. Me and my father played it together for some time when it was new, it's rather addicting but well made.

But that's not a colonialism game.. It's a settlement creation game.

I second Anno 2070. One of my favorite 4X games. Civ V is also really fun, though you have that already :P

Empire Total War isn't a colonialism game.
Anno 2070 it's a settlement creation game.
Tropico 4 it's a settlement creation game. I've already all the Tropico game by the way. Sorry didn't recalled that. I also already played very much Anno 1404 to inform you of that so no Anno series.

Sid Meier's Pirates!?

A good game but it's a pirate managerial game. It lacks the other aspects of colonialism like creating trading posts and colonies. It would be awesome if it was more complex by the way.

I just don't think you can really have any kind of civilization/exploration game without having combat represent a chunk of the gameplay. Its just too unrealistic and simplistic.

No I don't ask a game without it but a game that's not centered on it. I want to see my ships coming in the port, unloading goods, landing crews, building facilities for my city/colony/trading post. I big map with streets with natives, merchants, pilgrims, soldiers, rebels, pirates, beautifully rendered with forests, rivers, lakes, mountains, verdant landscapes and so on.

Oh, so you want more like a modern version of Transport Tycoon. It was a great game and it was fun watching the cities develop and technologies advance.

Maybe more like Railroad Tycoon but yeah like that. It would be ok even with a 2D map like Port Royale 2 but with more detail and interactive not a simple image.

Transport Tycoon was awesome, though! I think I'd get too bored with just trains, but managing a state's worth of buses, trucks, airplanes, boats, and trains, as well as the infrastructure for it, was amazing. Even stranger was the fact that I started playing it in a language I didn't really understand.

Yes I agree but sorry didn't mention it, I was only talking about the style. I prefer 19th/early 20th century (1800-1900) style both graphical both historical. It would be awesome if Cities in Motion would be like Transport Tycoon mixed with A-Train. A-Train abandonia game page

+1. Not involving colonization, but it's a rather interesting series. Do save frequently and in multiple files though, The Guild 2 is notoriously buggy.

make your own!
yey!
but seriously if you already have most of modern colonization games than there is no much choice ahead of you :/ You can try stuff like SPORE but I don't think it will that kind of colonization which you are looking after...
you can try look on kickstarter after some game projects... maybe something will fits your needs? ;]

and if by any chance you would like to try space-themed colonization - try Master of Orion :] for that colonization need third part would be probably best one...

Yes I know, in fact I'm in the process of creating one, I'm calling it Heart of Darkness like the Conrad novel. But I'm a very inexperienced programmer with C/C++. So I choose Visual C++ and C# to begin writing its code but I'm still inexperienced so it would be still many years to complete it lol. But one day I will sail with my caravel or merchantman to the uncharted shores of the new world and set the first stone of my new settlements called "Yeah, sure, in your dreams." lol. : P

the story of "how I became programmer" ;]
If you are just a starting your adventure with programming I strongly suggest to check game named "Stars". It will probably not suits your needs but it is great example of game which graphical side is... almost nonexistent (even moder MS Excel looks better) but still one can play it for hours :) - so do not try to make "beautiful 3d awesome game which is graphically realistic like FarCry3", but make something what will simulate areas which you desire from game :) .... even if your games is going to be forms based it does not matter as long as it is fun to make/play :]

No, no, I really prefer 2D graphics, pixel art and simple hybrid 2D/3D graphics a la Railroad Tycoon 2, Tropico, Soulbringer, Revenant, Nox and games like that. Because it gave you more possibilities, much more detail and more ease with controlling your tasks.
In fact I earlier linked a game with a 2D graphic style with only 4 colours called Pioneers

That doesn't involve what he's looking for, sadly. It had some good ideas, but in the end it looks like the devs were trying to draw the AoE crowd rather than make something unique.

Yes, I quote this too. Already played that also when I was searching for a colonisation game. Too bad its playing formulae was too simple and generic. Good idea, simple implementations.

You have a pretty definitive list there. I can't think of any other games that involve colonization, sadly.

(Also, I like your taste in games!)

Edit: Reading your comments, I LOVE your taste in games!

Actually, make sure to get the Heart of Darkness expansion for Victoria II, if you haven't already.

Edit: Also, if you're really desperate, you could try the Westward series.

Yes, I knew already I known every game or near every game like the one I'm searching but I was desperate lol. I didn't knew about the Westward series. They're interesting from the images I saw but they remind me more of Towns, Harvest Moon and such games. Another game I know is Merchant Prince but sadly it's pretty limited gameplay system too. : P

AoE 3 was really disappointing. With the railroads, I was hoping they'd made a game with cool features. Something like a more combat-oriented and way more refined version of Railroad Pioneer. But nope, it's just a fancy skin over standard AoE gameplay.

Edit: That reminds me - Railroad Pioneer. Not a particularly good game at all, but if you're desperate, why not give it a try.

Yes, I really prefer AoE 2 for that reason. But I think everyone prefer AoE 2 and that's the reason they made AoE 2 HD. Yes Railroad Pioneer I remember it, it's interesting, I also remember they used the Arcanum world map in a screenshot but maybe I'm confusing myself with a similar russian game.
