Could you please be a bit more specific? I think I know which post you are talking about but I would like to be sure.
Because technically, I guess coupon codes are often promotional (from the original author). I have posted a LOT of these, but none of them were for my own benefit or the authors or sites benefit. So to me it is kinda like posting a link to a free game on humblebundle for example.
Me and others just post links to courses and study material purely to advance our study and not for promotional purposes or advertisement.
Most of the study material that has been posted are udemy courses, but there are also links to free ebooks, unreal engine assets, youtube courses and a few other study websites. (all legal and not pirated)
To give a more straight forward question. Are we allowed to post study material/these links if it is not promotional for our self?

Looking over this thread, my impression was that everything in it was permissible up until this point. I would like it to remain so. There are a lot of links to other sites, many of them to the same site (udemy), some of them for YouTube videos which are most likely monetized. In the interests of keeping this thread "within bounds" and not having to police it all the time, I issued a reminder to those posting. Specifically, "Avoid posts that appear to be redirects for the benefit of the poster or another site."
As long as you guys are trying to avoid promoting other sites, everything should be fine. If a specific post seems a bit too much like promotion, Support will ask you to change or remove it.

I noticed yesterday that Packt free books given for the past few months are only readable online and don't come with PDF/Mobi/ePub versions. I'm guessing that came about around the time the mobile app was released.
Just a heads up for those like me who don't regularly download what the get and haven't noticed this.

I don't think it was ever very active. There are periods when there are more free courses or books, so I guess that affects it. Also depends on the people who track this. The only thing I personally follow is the free Packt books, and even that not every day.
