I've never played a final fantasy game, but I love jrpgs. A friend of mine said 4 was the best one to start with the 2-D ones.

If you want to play classic FF games, just try FF 6. One of the best Final Fantasy games in 2D era.

Since no VI on Steam yet, the choice was obvious, XIII.

Kinda don't want to play this. XIII-2 genuinely had one of my favourite video game endings ever, and I just know it probably gets retconned hard in this one.

8 because 7 is overrated and i haven played 13 and above. I have played the 6 but never finished, jsut played the beginning so I can't vote for it

FF7 is not overrated. Every FF game has its own charm since besides gameplay they all have different storylines.

Why FF7 is popular is being released at Jan 1997 it transformed whole FF series from 2D to 3D for the first time with stunning cutscenes and animations for its time. If you had the game in latter years it would not have the same impact as it would have owning at that time.

FFVII is overrated because most people in the West met that one first and still say it was the best in all regards. It was a great game and a good Final Fantasy, but nowhere near the best of the series.

Too many FF games :<
Do you guys think they will ever be bundled ? :P

Very unlikely. But Steam packages exist, at least for the XIII games, so they may form some other. And if they do and sell keys to other sites, they can go on nice sales, like how Bethesda does its sales instead of bundles.

They are never discounted more than 50%. Maybe our grandchildren will see them in a bundle.

Can't say I'm excited at all after the disastrous XIII-2 port. I really don't understand what happened there, my setup ran XIII just fine and I get a sequel with the same engine and everything else (except for the story) but it was struggling to attain more than 15 fps on average. Not gonna get burned again, I'll wait for some reviews this time before rushing in.

The engine wasn't completely the same, and it had some problems even on X360. This is why many people are sceptical of XIII-3 now, because it ran the worst on X360, and the PC port was made from that.
