For the people that want to buy the complete Watch Dogs collection, don't buy the Watch_Dogs Bundle ($13,47)! If you want all the complete editions, get the Watch Dogs Legion Gold or Ultimate Editions! These come with the Complete Edition of the first game, and you can get the second game seperately.

WD2: https://store.steampowered.com/app/447040/Watch_Dogs_2/

You are getting two complete edition games with the Watch Dogs Legion Gold or Ultimate Edition, so that seems like a really good deal, if you like Watch Dogs.

Are the games on the deep discounts page supposed to change? It's been the same set of three games ever since the sale started.

Seems really weird to me to promote deep discounts and then only push three games the entire time....

You can go to https://store.steampowered.com/sale/special_deals to see them all.
While many hoped it would be refreshed daily (not only preview, but whole page), Steam never stated that.
Also it only shows up on your store main page if you miss at least 3 games.

Or I am getting old or the sales are not good enough

I found many nice deals, though I mostly compare the prices to my (expected) enjoyment and the length- and type of the game, not historical lows. Though it can be very genre-dependant

you have over 2k games, of course it would be hard to find something new at a good sale that you dont already own

Good point, maybe I worded it wrong, I found some game which I want to buy, but its just not good discounts for me

Yep. sales used to be so much better. And it doesn't matter if you own 2k games, steam store sells over 110k games. So yeah, you can expect to easily find something good on sale that you don't already own if the discounts were just as good as they used to be 8 years ago.
Pointing out the number of games you own to disqualify how feel is petty and makes him look envious of you.

I have no idea how that would be the case, it's pretty clear it was said in a positive manner, to say, hey, you have so much good stuff already, ofc its harder to find more.

The sales have always been the same outside of two differences: no flash sales and no Steam sponsored Indie bundles. The percentages are more or less the same. At least in the thirteen years I've had my account.

I'd also say a user's library count definitely does factor into whether you are finding more or less games of interest. Especially if you also have specific discount percentages in mind and/or care about historic lows. That is subjective though and not Steam specific.

Nope, years ago the sales were so much better. Games were cheaper and most games got 85-90% off. You could easily buy 50 games in a single sale. Now we are lucky if we get to buy 5. I haven't bought 50 games in the last 2 years combined.
Now if a game gets 70% off it's still pretty expensive. They also barely follow regional prices anymore. Maybe it doesn't make much difference to you since you live in USA, but in many countries games have become overpriced. So in the end sales are really not that great anymore. 4 games I wanted only got 30% off. They are older games that recently got their price doubled. Nothing justifies that.

Discounts are still fine. Could be better, but could also be worse. The worst thing are the regional prices now. Most games doubled the prices in my country.

You must have lived in some parallel universe because this certainly never was true in this reality. πŸ˜„

They are older games that recently got their price doubled. Nothing justifies that.

There are actually two things that justify that: Inflation and cheap bastards abusing regional pricing.

Or you just don't remember how sales used to be.

Or you dug yourself so deep into "everything used to be much better" that your nostalgia completely turned into an imaginative tale.

And that I'm right I can easily prove, as there are multiple options to check previous sales.

I remember and they weren't like that. Golwar is correct. Inasmuch as some games go on sale for 80% or more, than definitely happens still (I bought several myself during this just ended sale), and it's no more or less than before. The sales events were more fun, but the sales themselves remain the same as they ever were, and Steam doesn't control what is discounted anyway. The developers make their own determination as far as discounts they think they can afford to offer.

DEAD RISING LEGACY PACK - 30% off for all games in Dead Rising series, except for the first one cause it's getting remastered. The pack was created 12 days ago, so it's a special offer for this summer sale. Will it stay after sale's end? I don't know this, but "DEAD RISING HALLOWEEN PACK" in 2023 ended with Halloween sale.

Comment has been collapsed.

Is the plan to eventually remaster all of the games?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm pretty sure they will make their decision based on sales. But it's a pretty interesting case, cause it's not a "remaster" (2016 steam version is already that) it's a "Deluxe remaster". They transferred the whole game to a new engine but kept all old mechanics. It's probably some AI voodoo and the result is not certain. Will it be optimized? Will the whole effort be worth it? Literally will it be worth 50$? But also conceptually: in the end old games are old not only graphically. If not for nostalgia many of them are better appreciated from memory.

And anyway from what I heard Dead Rising series is a diminishing returns thing. Any next entry is worse than previous one (though some would call DR2 the best) with Dead Rising 4 ultimately killing the franchise. So there is also that.

Is there any point in buying 2 considering I own 2: Off the Record?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

My friend played both games and he says it's essentially the same but "Off the Record" has more content and some improvements. Plot-wise, of course, it has more noticeable difference, but it's all non-sensical farce in the end. DR2 is cannon, OTR is retcon and that's very rare not only in games but anywhere. It's interesting study in that regard, I guess.

I think I'm done with the sale, I got what I wanted, Baldur's Gate 3 at a decent discount :)
And threw in some additions today in the Crysis Remastered bundle, Gedonia (90%), and the Scorchers DLC for Rage (oldie).

Tempted to buy Arma III, but when if ever would I play it? :-P
Also DLC for Euro and American Truck Sim are tempting, but the prizes for those are always the same for every sale, so no rush.

The prices for ETS2 and ATS DLCs are quite often the same but I bought Iberia for ETS 2 and I am playing it again after 2 years.
Let me say, itΒ΄s awesome :D

Yeah, I think those map extensions are value for money, but with BG3 and CP77 taking up my gametime...there's no rush.
But yeah, I don't doubt you. And they keep adding new ones, Greece upcoming, and ATS has a lot of territory...

With BG3 and CP77 you should have plenty of game to play^^
For now I like some mindless gaming and ETS 2 fits just fine. The DLC wasnΒ΄t necessary since there is still a lot of main game and other DLC content for me to play and discover but it was a good invitation to get back into the game.

PS: I also bought ATS :D for €1,99 itΒ΄s a steal, especially if the base games are always €4,99 on sales and I donΒ΄t think €1,99 will be the new sale standard.

I wouldn't call it mindless, more like...relaxing :)
Put on some decent music or pod, and roam with your truck(s).
The DLC probably isn't "necessary", but its an incentive to play the game as you say, and its the type of DLC that's welcome so many years after initial release.

How are you finding ATS? I would imagine there's more driving time with, potentially, longer distances to go, but probably not an issue?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Relaxing is a better word for it, yes! Especially with your own music :D
I never finished the base game 100% and started with DLCs already when I got the game. So basically, the DLCs where never "necessary" in the first place.
This time around I try to tackle achievements and get more variation in the missions I take.

To be honest, I am not going to try ATS very soon, since I just started ETS 2 again. Buying it was more of a safety measure in case the game will not go this cheap again^^

I played the original ETS, which is more bare bones, which had no DLC, but the towns was samey.
ETS2 has the whole business aspect to it, hire other drivers etc, but that doesn't really appeal much to me, I just want to explore and do challenges/achievements :-P
But I get that more drivers means more income, hence better trucks, more bases for practicality etc.

Ah I get you, but its pretty safe to say that the base game will be cheap, DLCs...will take longer.
Tempted to get the North-East bundle, but it can wait.
