Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen [ENDED]
Sadly, in trying to find out what country restrictions this key might have, I inadvertently activated the key on my account. As Waxworm noted, I now not only have the game (which I already owned), I now also have a Japanese language pack for the game. My apologies to all. [sigh].
As soon as I notice that I have at least 10 entries, I will randomly select a winner.
Based upon issues with other allegedly global keys for this game that I have had, this key might have serious area restrictions. That is the reason I am afraid to put it into a regular giveaway. Should the winner here not be able to activate, I will keep trying until hopefully someone can activate it. I am mostly patient, but if we get to 10 winners each unable to activate, I will admit defeat and toss the key into the wild.

I already own the game so I could find out, which exact sub the key is for and tell you the exact restrictions. Or you can do it yourself since you also already own it.
You just need to install the SteamDB extension and then try to redeem the key on https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey. It will show you the name and link to the exact sub on SteamDB.
The key will only get used if you don't already own everything in the according sub and if you're eligible to redeem it. So as long as you don't happen to have one of the pre-order keys, the key should still be good afterwards.

Why thank you my friend. I have the SteamDB extension installed but deactivated because I don't like how it renames the games (adding unwanted information) when I activate a new game. And I am so forgetful these days that I will probably be left needing help in the future. I will do the leg work myself to learn and see if it sticks this time. :)

And.... what the heck! it ACTIVATED on my account?!!!
I have had Dragon's Dogma filed as active on my account. You apparently just saw it in my account as active. But it just activated and as Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen without the sub information... I bet I had managed to turn that info off).
And so I am left wondering if I am wrong. I put in my original key and got the message that it is already active on my account. How can I tell if that original key is still valid?

You definitely had the game in your library beforehand. If the new key also activated, it must contain something different from your old one. Could be some extra DLC or something. You can still turn on the extension and try to redeem the keys again on https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey to see what subs they were for. If you can't get it to work, hit me up and I can do it for you.
If you login to SteamDB with your Steam account, the subs you own will also be highlighted green here:
https://steamdb.info/app/367500/subs/
You should own at least two different subs there now.

:(
In this case, the difference between the two lies in the depots. The first one (and presumably the one you redeemed today) includes the depot "DUNE_DEPOT_Jap" which probably includes Japanese language files. Which is kinda funny because the according sub is being sold in most of SEA but not in Japan. Japan has its own sub which also includes said language depot.
I'm sorry that I made you try to check the key that way. It doesn't happen too often that you can activate a key for a game you already own but it is always a risk unfortunately.

It's come with the territory, Waxworm! :) It sure would be nice if developers and platforms made it less obtuse for their paying clients to figure what the key they have is actually for etc. so that we did not have to take a stab using 3rd party apps which exist due to this issue.

This giveaway unfortunately is now ended without a successful winner. 😥

They key has been ninja'd by the way.
And you shouldn't post links to grey market sites here.
Reselling keys and links to reseller stores. Do not use our site to resell keys, and do not post offers from stores which allow third parties to resell their keys or gifts. For example, do not ask others if they are interested in buying your leftover keys from a recent bundle purchase, or link to keys for sale on sites such as Kinguin, G2A, or Eneba.
